  1. The bottom 6 (NAK especially) have responded extremely well. Wouldn't kill us to add a piece to it. Just not for any great long term cost. Ghost plus the pro-rated cap hit likely gets it close enough to handle for this year. Next year gets tricky because you'd essentially need to dig up 2.5 million to keep him. Braun and Elliott are automatically up (though I see Fletch trying to bring them both back-Braun likely take a pay cut, Elliott likely stays at a similar range) Pitlick is also up and can likely get himself a job elsewhere for more cash (another reason Fletcher might be looking at Kase). I think the room can be made to keep him, it's just a matter of how much of a raise Myers is in line for and if Fletcher can move JVR at any point.
  2. Keane is the guy I was saying is actually pretty good, not Gautier. And I agree with you. I'm saying I'm not sure I'd have made this trade if I'm the Rangers. I certainly don't feel like we lost out as a Flyers fan.
  3. No I totally agree, I just thought Kase is a decent player. I agree on the center issue. The problem there right now feels like this: Any player that's actually an improvement at Center has a cap hit that requires trading Ghost AND is likely a rental. A player like Domi or Kapanen who is a definite improvement over a Pitlick or NAK (who are playing well) would likely be worth trading Ghost because they're under contract for a while and RFA... but are any of those teams likely to move those guys? No. We're talking about all this because Fletcher's talking to people and the deadline is next week, but increasingly, I'm just not feeling like the Flyers are going to make any deals. You might see one with a pick or prospect for a depth forward like Kase as an insurance policy heading into the stretch. That seems more like Fletch's style. Then again, if Toronto wants to trade Nylander for Ghost and a pick... bring it. But right now they're feeling like they're still in the hunt. Which they are because for some god forsaken reason, Carolina and Columbus are in our division. Side note: I just noticed that the Devils are the only team in the metro with a negative goal differential (and boy howdy is it negative). They're also the only team with a losing record. But that's kinda nuts.
  4. This would be a very good add for the Flyers, but it would likely mean bumping NAK who has been playing quite well lately.
  5. Can't imagine the Flyers are trading with most of those teams or that most of those teams are interested in trading with the Flyers right now. Most are probably assuming the BJ's with all their injuries are circling the drain on the 2019-2020 season. Still, the Habs being there... interesting possibilities.
  6. John Gilmour was Hartford's TJ Brennan. or would have been. Now he's Rochester's Brennan. Keane isn't even old enough to drink.
  7. There's a reason so many of them have beards. Of course, he doesn't look like he could grow one, but whatever. It would be cruel to do to Patty, but I'd be thrilled if Nylander became a Flyer.
  8. Yes, but this kid's actually just pretty good. He's also only 20 years old and just seeing his first taste of pro hockey. IMHO this is a pretty big gamble on the part of the Rangers who must be pretty secure in their D prospect pool to pull this deal.
  9. I would love to have him. we'll ugly him up fast enough.
  10. They are now our major competition. They're looking for pieces to help them beat us. It makes no sense to trade with a team who is focused on taking you and mostly only you out. Keane is like their Friedman. He's outscoring Friedman actually. Looking at the rangers, i have no idea why he wasn't up actually.
  11. You’re a flyers fan. How well does a good nucleus with one and a half d-men tend to work out? I’m saying they have this year if Reilly comes back strong and then they have work to do in the off season to maintain that window. If they get 2-3 Decent D-men, the.mn they’ve got a big window open. If not, then they’re still searching for the key.

  13. They’d be wise to consider Ghost (plus a pick for Kap) now or Hagg in the off season. they’ll want Myers or Sanheim, but that’s not happening. I’ll go a step further and say that if Fletcher should move Ghost now if he gets a good offer. Definitely in the off season if not. It’ll be increasingly hard to get much for him throughout next year and Then Seattle will draft him for nothing.
  14. The Flyers are manic depressive. They usually play a good second half, but can be awful in the first lately. The injuries may have the Flyers come out underestimating the remainder of the Jackets... though home ice is good the the Flyers this year.
  15. There are lots of medicines too, though I'm not sure the NHL allows them. These are... spotty at best from what I understand.
  16. Carter fits if Patrick can't go. That's about it. You don't have to trade JVR right now either, you would have to LTIR Ghost until I think the playoffs which isn't particularly good unless you plan to use for just fill in duty and hope he doesn't screw up too badly. All this said, I was far more interested in Toffoli than Carter. Now that's off the table (for less than I'd expected), I'm guessing this is a moot point.
  17. Yes, Hextall is with the Kings again. Bingo, and Hextall is notorious for making trades for things down the road (aka taking on 4 years of JVR in exchange for draft picks). Of course Hextall isn't the GM, but since the Kings are in a similar position to where the Flyers were 6 years ago, they may be more apt to listen to him. Long story short though this apparently wasn't for Toffoli who just want to Vancouver for jack and squat... er I mean a couple of prospects. The market for the rental player is clearly way down. I'd reiterate, I'm not terribly interested in Carter. I'd take him if Patrick couldn't go all year or next or whatever, but even so, I don't think there's an exchange that can make the cap room work. Even if you dropped Bunny (they'd have to) they'd still have to LTIR Ghost.
  18. Reilly's on LTIR and of the rest, only Sandin in under contract past this year. Reilly comes back in a month so that leaves about a month of the aforementioned squad together. That's not a huge window.
  19. I don't think their window is quite as open as it seemed last year. This sounds odd considering how good they are up front, but they really don't have much on defense and they don't have much help on the way. In the off season once they pull a D man or two in, Then it'll open back up again. They may squeak into the playoffs. I don't mean that their season's done, I just mean that despite all the amazing talent at forward, they're not a terribly complete team right now and they're about to have some huge question marks making that completion more in jeopardy.
  20. That means we can't get Kapanen or Johnson. Not good for us either.
  21. Folks in LA might be a little more used to young punks having more money and getting more **** than they do.
  22. Anyone see this last night? Apparently there are legit rumors about Toffoli and Carter. I'm not really interested in sending Ghost for either one, and if it ain't Ghost, it's JVR (who conveniently had another monster game) otherwise the cap won't work. Unless... maybe they LTIR Ghost for the year and bring him back for playoffs?
  23. I like how AV did this last night. He put out a scrub PP unit at the end of the game and just as JJ was calling it a "classy" move, they scored. It think they might as well keep trying it!
  24. I'll say this for Carter, he sure as hell started to hit for the Kings. Dude threw himself around to break up plays and create chaos entering the O-zone like a little tiny bit not unlike Lindros during both of their cup runs. It was impressive. Wish he could have done a little more of that here, but then again, that might be the difference between Sutter's approach and Stevens' & Laviolette's approaches. Stevens was all about shutting down passing lanes and Lavvy was all about forechecking pressure and both systems were monsters on the transition. Neither was very big on physicality.
  25. I never understood the partying thing. If it gets in the way of games or practice or their overall health, then the coach or management needed to step in, but otherwise, these are 20-something kids most of whom never went to college or lived in a city with any kind of a "scene". Showing up hung over all the time and hence reducing your efficacy was a player is a problem and if the team can't keep an eye on that or step in with corrective measures, then that's really on the organization IMHO. But people seem to get jealous that Richards and Carter got to party and get it on with attractive young women... which... come on, really?
