  1. Would you do Hartnell and Couts for Yandle? Or Hartnell and Schenn?

No never....Hartnell and maybe Gus or something like that....not Harts and Couts/Schenn....way too much.

I would wait until offseason and re-visit the Weber deal....I think the Preds would take Couts plus a few more pieces

  2. Huh he did say YES...it's Weber that said no!

You must be new around these parts!!!! <_<

Dude...You are DEAD wrong......I may be new around these parts, but been a Flyers fan since '70.....

Nashville"s GM asked for either Couts or Schenn, plus some goodies we could afford to throw in....and it would be a done deal.....Paulie nixed it...

Weber signed the monster offer sheet!!!!.......Duh.....he was pissed at going back to Nash.....

  3. I will be more pissed if we trade Couts for a Dman....after all...we would have Weber if Homer said yes....so I would rather keep him...Looking back.....we could have traded Schenn in the Weber deal....and kept JVR.......WOW.....if only we knew

  4. Part of the Flyers problem is expecting too much from the youngsters.....we should keep Danny n Timo for the vetern experience they bring....both shine in the playoffs....and no one is giving up first-rounders for them....and I doubt teams will give up major young talent.....all I hear is "We miss Prongs,we miss Jagr"....we cant gut the team of 2 more vets....Keep both of them!!

  5. Give the kid a chance to develop.....Lavy really has not given Schenn consistent linemates since we aquired him....kid has played center and both wings.....we need to give him steady linemates and a regular position and watch him grow into the good player that was predicted.....I think its great that the Schenn bros are ther top Flyers in "hits".....havent we recently complained that we had gotten too soft?

Lets be patient and let all of these talented kids grow together!

  6. Kimmo should learn from his goal last night......shoot the damn puck!!! All he does is keep trying to make the perfect pass....or set up G from the left circle...I know G has ripped a few from there, but c'min Kimmo....SHOOT the damn puck....especially from the center spot where he keeps receiving a great one timer pass from the corners......drives me nuts!!!!!

    SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. its all good. I like Mike as a person, leader and a player. I just think it is a Leclair-esque signing. Both players have the same attributes (ie. good person, leader and player). But both are similar in their time being up. Neither are a recchi / chelios type of player.

The money is fine and even if waived, will not have an adverse impact on our cap. What will matter is that if he is waived and goes plays for the Phantoms, he takes up a contract spot. I will be rooting for him to succeed because I always liked him and thought he was an upstanding guy. On the business / team side of things, I just do not get it. I would have just of signed Jagr again (still a bitter taste in my mouth after that).

On the a bit over-analytical part, just expressing my POV. Nothing more, nothing less. It is a discussion board after all.

    Cheers

I also am pissed big time about Jagr....btw he hurt his groin again last night....

    and u r rght it is a disscussion board after all.....cheers 2u

  8. They are not just vets, they are part of the leadership group. I am not poo - pooing Knuble as a leader, but I just don't see the need for that attribute alone. 8 weeks max of no hartnell sucks for sure, but it is not like he is not going to be around and vocal. What about Talbot?? My point was that there is plenty of veteran leadership on the team and that is not a need that we need to fill.

Ok....you mrntioned 3 leaders, not me.....Max is def one as well.......Coburn too!

Knuble on the PP is an attribute....Look, for the low cost of MK, I believe it was a decent pickup....anyone else(Arnott, etc) would have cost a heck of a lot more....it he really is washed up we can waive him as quick as we signed him.

Being a little over analytical VF of my thread....ya think?

  9. I have looked for the clip over 100 times. The greatest thing I ever witnessed with Lindros was against the pens at the Igloo in the playoffs. The flyers were winning 2-1 in the third. They were on the PP and lindros literally controlled the puck for almost 40 seconds. He had two d-men draped over him in the corner and behind the net. At one point, the one d-man slashed lindros stick out of his hands. Lindros strong arms both the d-man, while controlling the puck with his skates- picks up his stick and sends a one handed pass to Leclair in the slot unmarked. The pens goalie made the save, but to watch Lindros single handedly control the play for that amount of time was astonishing. The pitts announcers were gushing over how incredible it was.

Big E was unreal......thanks for the great reminder VF

  10. @Vegas Flyer

    Welcome Vegas to HockeyForums

There will be hockey. Maybe not till Nov- Dec. But I fully expect an agreement prior to the Winter Classic.

Thanks 101......Been a Flyer fan since day one.....season ticket holder from'70-'80....been in Vegas over 20 years....can't live without my Orange n Black!

Love the young guns...they will bring us a Cup soon....been too many years without it.

Hope you are right...I could wait till Nov...not long after Christmas.

  11. You don't strip a player of the captaincy due to an injury. Period. Regardless of whether he's never going to play again or not, you don't do it. It sends the wrong message to the players. Unless Pronger publicly steps down, saying the team should have a captain on the ice, he keeps the "C."

Second, there are leaders in the locker room. The guys know who they are. They don't need a letter on a teammate's sweater to tell them who to listen to. Three "A"s are fine when you're talking about dealing with the refs in game.

Totally Agree....go with the 3 A's for the year....Briere, Timmo, Harts, etc are leaders, plus some of the kids will step up, I might let Simmonds wear the A once in a while......Prongs prob will hang them up......then give the "C" to Giroux next year.
