I can go on and on and on... Obviously
Well, we'll see how it plays out. But, it's a great opportunity to get Weber. Defense wins.
-
Was it likely some kind of joke gone wrong? Yeah, probably. But, this is big money with big consequences. Big money means big responsibility, just like the ordinary person. I think he's a he'll of a player but I'm afraid he burned his last bridge. It seems to me that the captain should be held to higher standards and I don't think mgmt will accept this. So why not get the coveted defenseman?
-
Oh from a marketing standpoint, he might have opened up a whole new market segment. Could rainbow jerseys be next?
Haha, good point. And I meant to say stud defenceman, dam spell check.
-
I dunno maybe its just me, but aside from a never ending string of jokes, is this a huge deal? I don't know why he did what he did, but in the grand scheme of things....
I agree. But it's a marketing thing. You saw what happened to Richards and Carter and that was for things not plastered all over the media. Besides, we need a stud mean to build out from.
-
Let's face it, the broad street bullies will not want this stigma. Especially from the captain, no less.
-
Actually thanks to Holmgrown the Flyers can't afford it either.
Sure they can. Max contract for max contract.

Super far fetched. Nashville doesn't take that deal.
I don't think so. Both teams get what they really need at equal value

Not so far fetched now

He has to be banging his head against the wall though. First, he's been handed a salary cap nightmare and now his star player has embarrassed the team, not to mention himself.
-
What a coincidence. I was thinking just yesterday how much of a return we would get for Giroux? I don't see this team being playoff competitive for quite a while unless some major shakeup happens on defense. If that can't happen then it makes sense to trade Giroux for a fortune and rebuild with quality prospects timed with the arrival of our defensive prospects already in the system.

Very cool. Good luck Scott!
-
Nope. Morin would be untouchable IMO.

I'm very intrigued by Morin. Something tells me he's going to be an animal. I don't think I let him go.

haha, great movie. Haven't seen the TV show yet.
-
Yes, sign him. He can retrieve pucks after practice.
-
I agree. Combine Eckblad with Morin, Haag & Ghost and we could a very good back end in a couple years. It's worth a crack as long as the price is reasonable.
-
it may be feasible.
-
agreed... I am scared to think what Homer would do with those picks!
yeah, that's scary.
-
Has not worked out in the Oilers favor to date.
And shame on them. The GM that made all of those picks is no longer there.

I'm with you on Couturier. I'm not in a rush to get rid of him, but for the right deal, I absolutely move him. No hesitation.
I don't think you would get anything for him. All the other teams see the quicksand he skates in.
-
Yes. Let the rebuild begin. Let's take the lead of the Pens & Oilers and start tanking the next 2 or 3 seasons for high picks. I'm not sure there is any other choice? Obviously, there has been a gross misjudgement of talent on this team.
-
Yes, I would. Giroux isn't an elite stud, and is slowly piling up a history of injuries on a smaller frame. Weber on the other hand is a elite #1 defenseman. Weber is cheaper in cap hit too.
I realize the Flyers need scoring, but guys like Weber and Pronger don't come available often. Like now for instance, Weber isn't available.
Yep, that's how I feel about it. Well, it the Preds season ends up tanking, it may just become possible.
-
Would you do it? I think I would.
-
The next 5 games are Rangers, Isles, Ducks, Caps & Devils. If they are to show improvement they should come out of that 3-2. Anything less than that and the season is pretty much in the toilet and I consider beginning the fire sale and start all over. And that of course would include the GM.
The next 5 games will be the measuring stick, in my opinion.
