  1. The feelings thoughts and accusations made by unknown people on a hockey forum has no, ZERO, impact on those involved. No damage is occurring by what any of us think. The flyers have taken no action against Hart. So this is just an overly emotional response by you, because you want your star goalie back on the ice to your second statement, where you say you’ll wait before making accusations… I find it interesting how hard you are arguing on Harts behalf. It sounds an awful lot like your are accusing the victim in this case
  2. I mean, try reading it. There’s plenty of info out there
  3. hell Yes! Scott Laugthon is Jon SIms mentor
  4. Trade him now. His value will never be higher
  5. the Flyers are used to having players with that skill set
  6. Regardless of outcome, I hope the Flyers just move on. They have a team to build. The guy isn’t there. Next man up. If he gets cleared, and I have a feeling based on all that I’ve read that he won’t, they can try to move him for whatever he’s worth at the time
  7. The original hook up was consensual. It was the piling on by the 3 and 4th lines that caused the issue
  8. And he has questionable ethics when it comes to women……allegedly
  9. they need two weeks to figure out what to say about charges it took them five years to come up with? whos the chief up there, Chuck Fletcher? why do I hear "yakity sax" in the background?
  10. i went back and read again.... did I understand correctly that this has already been settled civilly for over 3 million dollars? And its after that, that these charges are being brought? That kind of shoots holes in the money grab argument
  11. this is factually not true. Don't ignore the facts just because they don't fit your narrative. The victim did not wait years. The years are the product of the investigative machine. Have you even considered that those in those crucial positions were trying to protect entitled athletes? Its at the least as plausible as your argument that its a money grab
  12. As they should, if they so choose. Collin Kapernick was cut and not signed because he was longer a good QB. He didnt start his social justice antics until after he found out no one wanted him Antonio Brown had his issues, and still teams signed him (TB, NE) Evander Kane was hardly impacted and has been playing since But you forgot about Kobe Bryant, who raped a girl, settled out of court, and is heralded as a hero. No way the Lakers would part with him. Or Ray Lewis who was "present" for a murder, only to go on to have a HOF career. Anyway, like I pointed out in a later post, the allegation appears to have been made shortly after the incident took place. Its not the victims fault if those tasked with investigating are incapable, or unwilling, to do their jobs I just think its a sad state of affairs when people put their own happiness, like rooting for a person who can deliver wins/championships, over common human decency
  13. If the allegation had come out 6 or 7 years later, I could understand the skepticism. But as I understand it, the allegation came pretty soon after the event. The investigation was closed a year later, then reopened two years after that. Somewhere in there was a settlement. It certainly sounds to me like efforts where made to handle the issue without too much damage. You wrote that we should not CANCEL Carter Hart based on an allegation of wrongdoing. Well I say let's not cancel the victim because you don't want your start goalie to be guilty
  14. I'm not sure what this even means. Professional sports team rarely cuts ties with a talented player over accusations. As for public opinion, who cares. It carries no weight. If he did something wrong, the court sytem is supposed to figure it out. If he is found guilty, public opinion will be the least of his worries If a person on here chooses to believe he is guilty without a tril, and chooses to hate on him, that's their choice. If someone chooses to give give him BOD, again, their choice I get what you are saying, but again, IT WILL play out. I imagine he will get his day in court to tell his side. But like you said, there's a lot of smoke, as far as pending charges and these leaves of absence. Personally, Im glad he is on this leave of absence. Guilty or not, playing hockey should be secondary. It also gives the Flyers the opportunity to focus on the play of their current goal-tending staff without the ongoing distraction
  15. Are you now saying the team is a contender?
  16. This is fair. Laughton can play any position in the offense. You can never have enough of those guys
  17. so what should they do, disregard the way they are playing and trade away pieces? What pieces do they trade, and for what? Im not saying "go for it". Im saying the current team is playing well and could make the playoffs. So don't turn over the apple-cart by chasing some high priced (over priced) talent that won't fit long term. If a trade is there that actually makes them better, of course you should take it. Don't mortgage the future for this though. I think they are laying the foundation for what will become a strong team in the next couple of seasons
  18. fair point. Let me ask you this question, what happens if they continue having success against the top teams in the league? Does that put them on the glide path or are they just a bunch of over achievers? I'm really taken aback, but damn, they are playing strong against some top tier teams
  19. good stuff right there. Solid post. The question in my mind is, what do yo do now? You can't make them tank. You could dismantle in hopes of sending them into a losing spiral, but what GM/Coach would do that? Is there a possibility of letting them go as far as they can, assess from there, and then decide if you have a strong enough nucleus to build a contender? Then maybe add top tier talent? Or is it best to ride the wave, make some moves you think are solid, and wait until.....IDK, some other time?
  20. I think the "plan" was and is, sound. Problem is, no one saw this team playing like this. I don't see how they can dismantle it, or parts of it, just to say they stuck to the plan. That's like the Eagles sticking to the pass because they are committed to Hurts. We saw the result. Okay, that apples and oranges, but I'm sure you get my point. I think the Flyers can do both. I take Torts' comments to mean, dont get over eager and sell the farm for some superstar who might be available. I don't see why they can't keep the roster in tact, with the intent to let them play it out, while keeping an eye on moves that might fit "the plan". What is so bad about this team making the playoffs? Doesnt it mean experience for these young guys? I think that is a valuable commodity for a young roster to mature. The current management team is not the same dumbasses who have been throwing away assets for the last 40 years. I dont think BD and KJ are sitting around thinking they are making the playoffs so lets go all in. Its prolly more like, "Holy Shidt, we might actually make the plyoffs. How cool is that?" Im looking at this team the same way I would an expansion team, a rag tag roster of youth and possibilites, with a few older guys. Expansion teams can surprise
  21. You’re prolly right, but currently they are decisively beating the Stars. They are currently a very good team. The fact that we all expect them to fall apart is speculation. I don’t know what they will be in 3 years, but tonight they are the 9th best team in the league, 4 in the conference and 2 in the division and Tippett is playing like a damn beast
  22. Let me start by saying Im coming late to the party. The Eagles debacle is over, I've recovered from my temporary Philly fan mental meltdown (by now many of us are used to it), and I hope to re-focus back to the latest version of the blue collar boys. I get what many are saying about future seasons and future plans. But what happens if this current group makes a deep playoff run? They weren't supposed to, so I imagine the "lightning in a bottle" rationale will be present. But do you not re-sign players after that based simply on the belief that they are incapable of doing it again? I mean, you didn't think they could to begin with. Right? And honestly, its no more accurate and risky then when you sign a young player based on what you think he will do. This thread is full of examples of players who were expected to be something, onlt to find out they were less than nothing. I agree with the premise of not chasing high price talent who are past their prime, at the cost of younger players who are achieving theirs. That has never worked. But it seems to me the major difference happening now is management. It certainly appears that the dinosaurs are actually extinct, and their is a new plan in place. If those guys are good at their job, and they see an exisitng opportunity to push for the prize, I hope they take it. I'd happily accept one cup in exchange for a decade a seasons without one
