Somebody archived a terrific article from The Athletic from yesterday, outlining how Connor McDavid took last year's disappointment of the Play-In loss to Chicago, and used it as an opportunity to grow and try to become a complete hockey player. The article features numerous quotes from those involved, along with video clips to highlight examples.

Adds veteran winger Alex Chiasson: “When you’ve got the best player on your team — your captain — doing that stuff, it’s contagious.”

Exactly. Anything your captain does is contagious. Captains like McDavid make your team better. Some turn your team into a bunch of floaters.

He's easily the best player on the planet. And it's a breath of fresh air him not having the sense of entitlement Crosby had when he was. The face of the NHL shouldn't be a snivelling whiner. Guys been a class act since day one. Crosby eventually grew up. McDavid didn't have to.
