yave1964
Only a rumor so far, but as Colonel Hans Landa once said, "I love rumors!" Rumor is that several teams have reached out to GM Jeff Gorton asking about the availability of Carey Price. If Price were dealt his four remaining years of a 10.5 million dollar cap hit would have to be negotiated with the Habs having to eat at or near half his salary. One thing the Habs have going is they front loaded the paying of the contract and in actual cast it is only 7.5 million per season. Two teams are tied to the Price sweepstakes, Colorado and Edmonton. Colorado would be deja vu, remember Patrick Roy was traded to the 'Lanche a quarter of a century ago from the same Habs and won a couple of cups. Price in the Rockies would make them instantly the team to beat in the West. And the Avalanche have Pavel Francouz a solid goalie prospect to dangle going the other way. Edmonton does as well. Stuart Skinner with Jake Allen leaves Montreal in good shape in net and they should be able to squeeze additional pieces out. So Price to Edmonton? Price to the Avalanche? Or just a cold boring December day with a bunch of people reporting that it might happen. None are Elliot Friedman or anyone like that so take it with a grain of salt but he could significantly change the landscape in the west. Samifan
Maybe Price will get traded to the Sabres where his name will be spelled Pryse by some members of this forum Edited December 7, 2021 by Samifan 1
TropicalFruitGirl26
Honestly, though, with all the issues surrounding Price, the fact he hasn't done anything on the ice this season, and because he is on the wrong side of the 'aging meter'....will it really matter to a contender to get him now? Especially if a team like Colorado or Edmonton is in 'win now' mode? I just don't see Price magically becoming his former Vezina quality self, UNLESS, he isn't as bad off as we all believe and this is some elaborate ploy to get the hell out of Habs Land.

Probably not but it is out there right now, I cannot fathom anyone being willing ti take on his term but Price could turn a pretender into a contender.
