I was saying that AV didn't like Gostisbehere  because he evaluated him the way some here do - by his defensive game. I took some liberty obviously; I can't know for sure why AV soured on him. But Gostisbehere was sent to the doghouse pretty early in his comeback imho.

 

Maybe Gostisbehere encouraged his coaches and teammates to believe he was ready to go when he really wasn't. I don't know. He wouldn't be the first player to massage the facts about an injury. All I know is that if he's handled properly Shayne Gostisbehere is a valuable asset. My opinion, yes, but it's shared by plenty of hockey guys I read and hear.

 

The one thing I can understand about not wanting SG is that the Flyers weren't ready for him. Meaning their D corps was in trouble - still is thanks to Ellis staying hurt - and an offense-first D-man may not be the best bet going forward. It's debatable and I would've kept him, but I can see the other side too.
