Morgan Frost is not  only showing geat skating and stick handling ability ,which was always in his scouting reports... but also an incredibly quick and accurate shot. He has scored a number of Rick MacLeish style goals cutting across the ice and blowing a deadly wrist shot by the goalie. Foerester and Tippet are also showing some tremendous shooting ability and we also have Brink coming along. So we are looking very promising in the shooting dept. We went from no snipers to having 3-4 and Gauthier us also known for a deadly shot.

 

Now we need a potential top line center or a scoring left wing and we have a shot at getting one of those in this year's draft. I'm hoping for a center since Coots is a long term ? and Gauthier will join the team after the college season is done.

 

Even though we had trouble scoring goals this year and people might think our offense is our weakest area, its not, its actually the defense. We have alot more young forwards breaking out and showing high skill levels than we do on defense and we have even more offensive potential In LHV as well.

 

The bigger problem is actually the defense 

which we need to address. We still lack a go to defenseman who can anchor the back line and lead by example. In the past we had at least one  guy like that  for example..Howe, Desjardins, Timmo, Pronger. We have some solid #3-6 guys but we have no legit #1 or #2. Attard and York are the best prospects we have but neither looks to be top pair guys. So somewhere down the road we need to find a top dman and you will see the whole defensive unit improve dramatically.

As for the D I also expect to see a few of them get back to where they were now that the Clueless One isn't running things anymore.

We can only hope that Andre of York turn into a # 2 but they don’t really project that high. We definitely need a top pair who can shutdown the other team and also provide offense. Remember when we used to play the Rangers and McDonough and Girardi would completely shut down the Legion of Doom line. We couldn’t get near the net and we never got off a second shot  and McDonough would also provide offense. We really need an all around defenseman who will lead the group. We need a modern day tandem like Howe and McCrimmon, finding that is like hitting the lotto.

This i wouldn't get to caught up in. No scout can determine your path. Your path is up to you.

 

The more work you put on your craft the higher you can rise. No one has the say over how high they can rise besides them.

 

Look no further than Emil's comp Kimmo Timonen a 10th round pick. Sometimes you just have to out work the competition.

 

Still too soon to call it on either kid. We will know in another 3 years.
