The “elite” snipers are not usually known for their defense ( to put it kindly). I guess if you can shoot like Kovalchuk or Ovechkin you’ll get ice time even if you never backcheck. Forester is doing things most goal-scorers never had to do - in Juniors, college wherever. Glad to see he’s got brains and isn’t recklessly blocking shots with his feet, legs, etc. (Tortorella loves his shot-blockers). Foerster gets position to use his stick instead, breaking up plays that way. Jeff Carter was good at this, but was vilified cause he didn't dive in front of shots and throw big checks.
