habsguy26
Okay.. so. With Pk trade rumours swirling, I have just thought of a decent trade proposal between these two teams. Marc Denis (yup, the retired goaltender now working with RDS) reported the Habs and Flyers were talking about a potential deal for P.K Subban all weekend.Reportedly, the deal starts off with either Brayden Schenn, once thought to be the NHL's top prospect, or Sean Couturier going to Montreal, while Subban and maybe another defenceman going back to Philly.Tonight, Denis reported this proposal from Philly to Montreal:To Montreal: Brayden Schenn, Andrei Mezaros (sp) and a 2013 1st round pick To Philadelphia:P.K Subban, Raphael Diaz, 2013 3rd round pickHm. Okay. A lot of you in the game chat didn't like that idea all too much. Some of you asked for a Diaz scouting report, so here it is: BiographyPosition: DefenceShoots: RightHeight: 5'11Weight: 194 lbsBirthday: January 9, 1986Hometown: Baar, SwitzerlandAcquired: Free Agency, 2011Draft Team: UndraftedDraft Year: N/ARound/Overall: N/ACap Hit: $1,225,000 Scouting ReportStrengths: A smooth skater and a smart shooter. Makes the most of his limited size by being in the right spot positionally.Weaknesses: Does not play a particularly physical game and while he makes the most of his size, he struggles somewhat when facing bigger players.Projected Role: 2nd pairing defencemanAlright now here is the proposal I would send back to Philadelphia from Montreal:To Philadelphia:P.K Subban, Raphael Diaz, 2013 2nd round pickTo Montreal:Brayden Schenn, M.A Bourdon, Nick Cousins, 2013 3rd round pick Why YOU'D be smart to accept this: Brayden Schenn would receive top line minutes in Montreal. He would grow to his full potential. But if he remains in Philadelphia, he is behind Briere, Vorachek and give or take Couturier on the depth chart. Bourdon, I think is a defenceman who could grow to be an NHL regular. He isn't Subban but he will replace a spot in the bottom 6. Cousins had his reputation damaged with legal issues a few months back. Great talent but he is going to have to work really hard at cracking an NHL line up. As for Subban. I know a lot of you aren't sold on him. Let me just say, that with age will come maturity. He has the TALENT to be a top 5 defenceman in the league. He has as good of offensive awareness as anyone in the league, past or present. He hits, he fights, sticks up for team mates, he chirps, he (occasionally) plays sound defence and he plays 20 minutes a night. I'll leave you to discuss this in the comments. Bertmega
PK is certainly a talent. Your proposal isn't bad either. I would rather keep Schenn being that I think he will play an important role for the Flyers in the next year or so, and send Voracek in his place. Digityman
To Montreal:Brayden Schenn, Andrei Mezaros (sp) and a 2013 1st round pickTo Philadelphia:P.K Subban, Raphael Diaz, 2013 3rd round pickIn my mindSubban = Schenn talent wise. Both will be top 20 players in their prime.Diaz < Meszaros. Meszaros is an established younger defenseman and Diaz is a undrafted small defenseman.1st Rd > 3rd Rd Obviously.Schenn is not behind Voracek or Briere. Centers on the Flyers after next year are:Giroux, Schenn, CouturierBriere will play wing and be a power play specialist. Voracek is a winger not a center. BearOnIce
Subban is a cancer. Sit tight. It is just one season. Homer always has something brewing
