radoran
http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/19635422/new-york-rangers-buying-defenseman-dan-girardi Quote Only goalie Henrik Lundqvist has been with the Rangers longer than the 33-year-old Girardi. The alternate captain has spent his entire 11-year career in New York. His cap hit was $5.5M a year and he had 4 goals, 11 assists last season. Capfriendly shows them with $12M in salary cap space with 17 players signed - including six defencemen. Rangres have six arbitration eligible RFAs on the roster as well. yave1964
The Rangers are shopping Derek Stepan for a top tier blueliner and with good reason, their defense was a mess last year and since then: Brendan Smith is an UFA, not very good to begin with the Rangers are prepared to back the truck up to his door and drop off a load of money but there is no guarantee he will return. Girardi absolutely hit the wall and is done. Kevin Klein, a usable warrior has broken down, plans on getting out of last year of his deal and going to Europe. Marc Staal, one of the most overrated players of this generation slipped to a career low in a full season of 10 points and has not scored more than 20 since 2010-11. His defense which has been his bread and butter is slipping badly. Thaty leaves Holden, an Avalanche reject, Mcdonough who can play but is fragile and Skjei who showed flashes last year. Even if they were to add a true number one this group could be in trouble.
