  1. @galgonWild - agreed, the Wild have some great prospects - finally. If only they didn't suck so much now. On a personal matter, I know that you are prolly a 50 year old, balding, dude, but how big are your t!ts? jk - Flyer fan humour right there. Presumably, you`ll get used to it. With Love Pods
  2. Dryden is a wuss. I'm sorry, but I've read The Game, and he spends half of it trashing Clarke and the Flyers for being a bunch of cavemen, while he, the erudite scholar, pontificates on the game of hockey, as if he was the only one to ever play it. Well, I'm sorry Ken, but the game belongs to all players, even those who came from mining towns and working class families. They weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth, but that doesn't mean they don't care about the game as much as you. He's filth. /rant
  3. @flyercanuck I think you have just been watching too much Deadwood and have gotten mighty cantankerous. #Hater That is a critical distinction to make. Well said.
  4. @flyercanuck That was a helluva game! And what a way to win it. You could practically see Zibanejad's eyes bulging out of his head when he saw that puck along the boards and pounced. For any hockey fan, that was an absolute pleasure to watch.
  5. A certain part of it is made of Swiss cheese. Add some ham, some mustard and a pickle and you've got the start of something beautiful.
  6. I care so much @jammer2 that I've decided to go to the Theater tonite to see a play! I know, pretty shocking. For me, it's Gold or nothing. I hope that the boys don't share that view, but seeing as how millions of Canadians do, some of them likely also do. So, I'm prepared for a loss tonite, especially since we beat the Finns in game 1 and their goalie has been sensational....
  7. There is no evidence that Voracek really likes the physical play like that, I agree. He is too peripheral, in particular. However, he is young and has a competitive streak in him (I think he does at least). He appears to have a large asss on him, which he uses well to protect the puck (like Hossa, kind of, but Hossa has more grit and more experience). Anyway, this makes him an effective guy down low and on the cycle and it allows him to buy time, which for a playmaker like him is critical. I for one, am happy with his overall play. Sorry for the length, I know you prefer short sentences or grunts.
  8. Like I said @orange_crush, I'm thrilled you are here
  9. I think you're pretty safe with Giroux. As safe as it gets. Or maybe Bryzgalov, 'cause he ain't going anywhere
  10. Kunckledragger, I have missed you and glad you made your way over here. But seriously, what's wrong with you? Never mind that they aren't - remotely - similar hockey players for now. More importantly, presumably you know what the word "soft" means (see my comments on Hartnell's brain in another thread). And yet you use it all the time to describe all kinds of hockey players (see Carle, Matt). It makes me think you have never played hockey. Which is fine, but please shut up about stuff you don't know anything about. Or not. Kindest regards, Pods
  11. @Digityman: excellent comments. I agree it is the only way to go, but I don't know what it looks like. I think boards DO give, somewhat, but it varies by arenas. There should at least be a standard, which there isn't. Nor is there for glass, yet. That would be a start. But speaking of "softer," I'm reminded of a comment that Phil Esposito said a few years ago, viz. that back in his day, with rare exceptions (e.g Bobby Clarke who was a fitness fiend compared to most players) everybody was fat. When they got hit, the fat kind of absorbed the impact. Now think about the last time Hartnell was injured? He's very durable (80 or more GP 6 of his last 8 years). I think there is some truth to what Espo was saying. Some. EDIT: has Hartnell ever had a concussion? Prolly, but not a bad one I bet. Since his brain, which is a muscle, is also fat, he's got protection.
  12. Thanks @orange_crush. Classic Podein goal, one-handed garbage.
  13. You've been warned @Vincent05, is all I'm saying. They should trade him while his value is peaked. For a stud D-man, some grit and a goalie, apparently.
  14. Big mistake. He's too small, will never amount to anything.
  15. Exactly exact you evil bastard. Sounds like they were looking for trouble. Just sayin'
  16. I'm doing ok @AlaskaFlyerFan. Back at work after a restful holiday but super busy at work with some new responisbilities (much as I tried to keep my head down) and not as much time to devote to this forum or hockey in general. Tonite is a rare exception it seems, so catching up and watching the Jets-Habs game. What about you? What's new in your world? Go Flyers
  17. Are too! Ask anyone. For example, ask @JackStraw. He's as objective as it gets. Hell, ask his dog.
  18. Hey buddy @AlaskaFlyerFan, That link has been taken down. Sad story, I found this update: http://espn.go.com/high-school/story/_/id/7424789/paralyzed-minnesota-hockey-player-jack-jablonski-undergoes-surgery I wonder if he's any relation to Pat (?) Jablonski the goalie from the late 1980s/early 1990s?
  19. I'm sure you did @flyercanuck! Along with other notables like Sieve ViciousTM
  20. Maybe not, but you're a very disagreeable sort
  21. Yes, not the first time that Lavvy has been outcoached this year and wont be the last.
  22. This is true. I give the Rangers some credit for bottling up the neutral zone and making us look bad, but we could hardly pass a puck in the 3rd. Not just missing guys by a bit, we're talking 10 feet.
  23. Ha! Thanks to you (and Bryzgalov), I finally found my new nickname for him: Cosmic Thumbsucker Don't it just roll off the tongue?
  24. @jammer2 - have to feel bad for Murray. His first giveaway was boneheaded but talk about bad luck. Even the 5th goal was in his feet briefly in front there. What a bummer. And the Leafs won too! Christ almighty.I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue....
  25. Didn't know where to post this.... I'm sure most of you are familiar with this eclectic, often funny, long-suffering Leafs fan blogger. This one is pretty funny: http://www.downgoesbrown.com/2012/01/inside-gary-bettmans-new-years-eve.html
