  1. With both Briere and Grossmann out of the lineup after a week off, I had a feeling a case of the Seth Jones Flu could have been released into the locker room by management. But apparently... "(Briere) was injured during Saturday's practice in Voorhees, crashing into the boards during a drill." http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inqflyersreport/Briere-has-concussion.html
  2. <<At least Grossmann still leads the league in blocked shots.... Nope, that's a Penguin now.>> According to www.capgeek.com the Flyers have the highest team salary in the NHL or rather the least amount of cap space - so there's that.
  3. Oh Ilya - You know it's bad when the guy in the sheer camouflage shirt is laughing at what YOU'RE wearing.
  4. Is the answer Chris Therien? Do I win? What do I win?!
  5. I think Shanahan uses the same method the US Gov't uses..... http://youtu.be/wz-PtEJEaqY
  6. If only Zolnierczyk had cross checked Lundin in the face like Alfredsson did to Rinaldo, he could have avoided suspension too. Remember that for next time, skip the bodycheck, cross check the face.
  7. "Take the shortest route to the puck carrier, and arrive in ill humor." - Fred Shero No conditions or exceptions.
  8. According to this TSN article, "Los Angeles will get a third-round pick if Philadelphia makes the playoffs or a fourth-round pick if the Flyers miss the post-season." http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=416897
  9. Nah, we Americans don't use guns for bass fishing - just dynamite.
  10. @Bertmega It also seemed odd to me that when Talbot received his delay of game penalty in the 3rd period for closing his hand on the puck, both refs missed the trip by Neal that sent him to the ice - landing him on top of the puck. But I also thought Fedotenko's "high stick" appeared to bop Neal on top of the helmet - I knew I must have seen it wrong when Neal grabbed his face and crumpled to the ice. (Sarcasm) Eh, whatever... Amazing game. I could watch that Rinaldo hit a hundred more times. He's really learning how to be a great pest out there.
  11. @Mad Dog I believe in adding Gervais and Foster Holmgren was simply trying to add right-handed depth defensemen. Right-handed D-men were noticeably absent last year's playoff run, I think Andrej Meszaros was the only RH D-man at the time. All defensemen added for this season (Schenn, Gervais and Foster) are RH. That said, is there anybody here who is both RH and can skate backwards?
  12. @Polaris922 Since your Pens have stockpiled young d-men prospects do you think you could make a phone call and have them send Olli Maatta our way? We'll owe you one
  13. Kind of glad Upshall got knocked out of action recently. He plays with an edge that puts his opponents health in jeopardy. Last thing Flyers need is to lose another body. Upshall injury: Upshall hit on poor Bartulis: http://youtu.be/7LMqknpgR60
  14. I like what I see from McGinn but like sekkes85 said, JVR has six goals though 10 games so far this season. That's twice as many goals as the Flyers top goal scorer. It would be nice to have that kind of production in the Flyers lineup. Here's the Flyers top goal scorers thru 10 gms: 1) Giroux - 3 2) Read - 3 3) Sestito - 2 4) Couturier - 2 5) Simmonds - 2 (no one else has more than one goal)
  15. If Leighton gets a few more starts that would take care of the "finishing last overall" part.
  16. @fishbulb Just looking at that '06 Draft - Boston had to have the best draft of any team that year: Bruins Round 1(5): Phil Kessel Round 2(37): Yuri Alexandrov Round 2(50): Milan Lucic Round 3(71): Brad Marchand - what a steal! Round 5(128): Andrew Bodnarchuk Round 6(158): Levi Nelson Then of course Boston flipped Kessel to Toronto for draft picks that ended up being Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton, and Jared Knight. Well done Boston. Homer, do that.
  17. Update: James van Riemsdyk scored two goals and added one assist to lead Toronto to a 5-2 victory over the Penguins Wednesday night. Also, Colton Orr and Derek Engelland mixed it up again. Can't wait to see what Mr. Engelland's eye looks like tomorrow:
  18. "Wellwood played in 11 playoff games for the Flyers last year but was a healthy scratch in the AHL during the lockout, as Phantoms coach Terry Murray said he arrived with a sense of entitlement." Eric Wellwood?...
  19. I read the topic title too quickly, thought this was going to be a list of current Flyers drafted in the 1st round. Flyers on current roster drafted in Round 1: DANNY BRIERE SEAN COUTURIER CLAUDE GIROUX SCOTT HARTNELL BRAYDEN SCHENN JAKUB VORACEK BRAYDON COBURN ANDREJ MESZAROS CHRIS PRONGER LUKE SCHENN Flyers picked two of those players, acquired the rest. Need better scouting, drafting, or player development.
  20. Really like Tootoo - hits everybody, fights anybody. Opposing players must always be aware of where Kronwall and Tootoo are on the ice or they will be in trouble.
  21. @pilldoc Defensemen sure did fly off the board. 8 of first 10 picks were D-Men, not what flyers wanted to see I'm sure.
  22. Just watched Carter raise the Cup - feel all dirty.
  23. But being pissed is a good thing! Showing passion is a reason the NHL has given in the past for NOT suspending players. Remember this one: Colin Campbell on this hit: "Every 5-minute major is not a suspension or a fine. There's gotta be a little bit of passion in the game." (full article - http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Campbell-explains-Burrows-fine-no-suspension-fo?urn=nhl,213626)
  24. I don't know how the ref missed it when Brodeur played the puck outside the trapezoid in the corner. It was 15 feet in front of him and he ignored it. That was the non-call that set Giroux off leading him to charge down the ice and check Zubrus, earning a "head contact" penalty.
