  1. @goalnut3133 Aww, thanks! I'm glad the Hawks could help ... Between Nashville and San Jose ... the Sharks are the better team, so this was a big win, which is good, but the Predators are in the Hawks' division, so that isn't so good. I think I will take the glass half-full approach and applaud the win! I hope your Canucks beat the Panthers! I wish they could've beaten Dallas last night, also. The ref should turn the forcefield off around your net. However, when our teams meet this Friday night, I'm going to have to turn the forcefield back on ...
  2. 2-1 Blackhawks after two Thanks to this game being "one of those great 6 o'clock starts" (as Pat Foley says), I will be able to watch all of it! Patrick Sharp made it 2-1 after Joe Pavelski tied it.
  3. Hawks lead 1-0 after 1st period on Brandon Pirri goal After last night's disaster, this one is getting off to a good start. It is important for the Hawks to strike first, as the Sharks are like quicksilver (I don't know if that really made sense, but it sounds cool ... ). If they were fast last season, they're even faster now ...
  4. @pilldoc Those wouldn't happen to be the Mighty Ducks, would they?
  5. "We won two; we need to win four. Two plus two equals four." Scotty Bowman in 1997 during the Western COnference Finals, Wings vs. Avs.
  6. I've been watching NBC Sports Networks' NHL RIvals and they recently had Flyers-Penguins ... it's amazing how that rivalry has flared up again in the "Sidney Crosby era". They will have Penguins-Capitals next. Although I'd like to see some Western Conference rivalries better represented (after the first installment, which was Hawks-Blues, it's been all Eastern Conference coverage since then), it will be interested gaining some more insight into all of the major rivalries and how they began ...
  7. I think the Nashville Predators are certainly in qualification for Blackhawks' nemesis this season, although one game is too early to tell. I did not see a 7-2 loss coming ...
  8. Yes, I hope both our teams will do well tonight! I think your team has the better chance, though ...
  9. @goalnut3133 I think it was a little bit of both ... Khabi got injured in the first period and Crow had to come in on what would've been a rest for him, but the way it went it wouldn't have mattered who we had in net. It looks like the Predators were determined to end their losing skid no matter what. We could've actually had a brick wall in net and the result would've been the same. I think maybe it is because it was a full moon and the stars were not aligned. I will be hoping your Canucks beat Dallas. Maybe in that game, the Stars will not be aligned ...
  10. One more note ... When I called my dad and brother in Michigan to tell them how it was going, I could hear my brother mocking me in the background ...
  11. It's the Hawks and the Shaaaaaaaarks ... I love the way Pat Foley says it. Given that my team just bombed in Nashville, 7-2 (Ouch!), I think this will be a really tough game. It will also be interesting to see how we will match up against former Hawk Antti Niemi.
  12. Well, this was unfortunate ... I know the Predators can be tough to play against, but a 7-2 loss?? If anyone would have told me that this is how it would end, I would have laughed ... Was Hornqvist a boulder in front of the Hawks' net or what?
  13. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Viktor Stahlberg just burned his former team! Darn it darn it ... how could you do this to us, Stahlie??
  14. There's still hope!! Brandon Pirri just scored! It's now 4-2! Brandon Saad and Hawks newcomer/oldcomer Kris Versteeg had a hand in this one ...
  15. @yave1964 Yeah, this one was a definite "What the heck?". Although ... you never known how it's going to go when the team is facing a goalie they've not met before. It's like that game vs. the Flames almost 2 weeks ago when Reto Berra came in and had a good game against the Blackhawks.
  16. Not looking good ... The Predators are still outshooting us and have increased their lead. Predators goalie Marek Mazanec, who was brought in for this game because of Pekka Rinne going down, is standing on his head. That's the thing about sports ... it can be so unpredictable ... UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Well, this isn't going as planned ... Nashville is leading after the first period, 2-0, so they scored as many goals this period as they did in their last 4 games. It looked like Nashville was in the Hawks' zone for the majority of the 1st period. To top that off, Nikolai Khabibulin left the game with an injury, so there'll be no break for Crow tonight after all.
  18. @yave1964 Sharp has been doing very well lately, scoring some key goals. I think your fantasy team will do well with Sharpie. Rinne has been, to quote Arturs Irbe "like wall" against the Hawks in the past, so him being out iis a game-changer.
  19. @yave1964 "The Oilers traded their best defenseman to the Flames, Ladislvav Smid." Not a good move by the Oilers IMO ... and I'm surprised they traded him to rival Calgary, of all teams. Although, trades between archrivals have happened before, just not often.
  20. Tough loss for the Wings. I did not get to see the game, but my dad told me about it this morning and was at a loss to figure out what is going wrong ...
  21. Hawks fans know Filpie well ... he is a Hawks killer. I swear, every time the Hawks faced Detroit, he would be involved in the scoring vs. the Hawks in some way ...
  22. This is the first meeting between these teams this season, so I am not quite sure how to guage this matchup. No matter what the Predators' won/loss record is, they always manage to play a tough game against the Hawks. It will be the first of back-to-back games for the Hawks (the second is against the Shaaaarks), so I hope it will be a solid win for Chicago.
  23. Hmm ... very interesting. Leave it to Stan Bowman to pull a move like this off.
  24. @yave1964 "Dino Cicarelli after the handshake line and shaking hands with Claude Lemieux, "I cant believe I shook his freaking hand." Fred Shero "Arrive at the net with the puck and in ill humor." Bobby Hull: "My ex-wife made me a millionaire. Of course I used to have three million." Wayne Gretzky "I don't play where the puck is, I play where the puck is going to be."" Those are all priceless!
