why are people still talking about trading Giroux? You guys understand how absolutely stupid trading him would be, right?

Length of contract I'll concede, a bit long...but the money isnt much different that what he would have received as an FA. You cant look at it in a vaccuum, it has to be viewed through the lens of what was available on the market this year, whether you like it or not.

No other GM would have given MacDonald that deal? Did you see the insane crap the Caps GM pulled on july 1st? Care to revise your statement? IMO, I think AMac would have gotten a fairly similar deal on the open market. It was a weak crop of FA d-men this year.

1) This is the big question and considering the history of goalies in this org, its certainly a worry but....I dunno.....just a gut feeling, I dont see him regressing. Those columbus teams he was on in his early years were HORRIBLE. And he was asked to do far too much, far too soon. But if he doesnt work out, at least he isnt signed for the better part of a decade like Bryz was. 2) No I dont think Emery could really handle a full schedule, but he was the best of the available backups IMO, has been a starter before, so who knows. As long as his wires dont get crossed and he goes rogue and tries to punchify an opponents face, he would be somewhat serviceable. But losing mason would be a huge blow. 3) I dont think any of the prospects are anywhere near ready, but you never know.

I agree and can't believe someone actually suggested trading the face of the franchise over this incident. Just so I know.....is this kind of thing the norm here? Am I going to regret registering?
