Won't spent much time scouring for Weber trade details, but I've heard Preds wanted Couturier, Schenn and something else from Flyers. Ouch.

Flyers official press release:
Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
GM Paul Holmgren: #Flyers have signed restricted free agent (D) Shea Weber to an offer sheet. There will be no further comment at this time

Considering Nashville was going through trade scenarios, I wonder if Holmgren thought "Us, or Nashville" and worked out offer sheet...
So much goes into these situations it makes them really intriguing. It also means, the Preds were LIKELY shopping Weber /entertaining offers
-
Its going to be fascinating to see financial terms of Weber's offer sheet. Hearing in one calendar year, he could make $26 mil.

Let's not get too excited just yet...although its pretty effing hard not to.
I read this on HFboards, but this is a win-win for us
"As has been stated, we either get Weber our we prevent any rivals from getting him. This is actually a brilliant move. Plus, since we tend to do well every year, maybe some of those picks will mean less (and Homer then cannot trade our 2nds!!!)"

Just saw it on twitter. Had to look twice. Wow didn't think they would do it. Still think the Preds match it.
I hope he doesn't, but there's really no reason Nashville shouldn't match.
I'd throw Voracek their way if that would change their mind

It's almost as if he's using himself to pressure the team, NHL, or prospective buyers to get it done a.s.a.p. Like his loyalty is a bargaining chip.
I was in Pittsburgh the same time of the draft, but not for the draft. Don Maloney, Dave Tippett and much of the Coyotes front office and even a few draft picks were on the same flight back to Arizona, in coach. The draft picks were announced by the flight attendant.
I'm not sure how common that is, but it does say something when the team, decked out in Coyote Polos and bags, has to ride coach for almost 4 hours on a flight.

The #Flyers have signed D Bruno Gervais (2 years, $825,000 avg per season) and F Ruslan Fedotenko (1 year, $1.75 M)

A full season of Grossmann should make a huge difference.
He's a huge asset to this team now.

Me too. I think they need continuity more than a HUGE blow up right now. JVR trade was enough. Stand pat Homer!

Good and uh oh. I'm kind of souring on Parise and his potential contract to actual talent ratio. Phi, Min, and Det right?
