  1. from my view they puck was going up the ice toward the d-zone with no whistle... kind of hard to go and get some when you need to keep the other guys from scoring. plus the hit was a little behind the play maybe the guys on the ice didn't see it... plus talbot was down and seemed to be really hurt, i think that has a way of changing the focus from retribution to concern for the fallen teammate.. i'd be willing to bet a lot of guys in the locker room are glad to have talbot on the team, where as miller was struggling when his play happened; and since he's a goaltender probably isn't the "best guy " in the room. i don't think guys on the flyers were glad to see 27 get his i think staios should keep his head up the next time the teams meet.
  2. Thus starteth the goalie controversy...for real :-(
  3. @aziz good points... full disclosure, i did a quick search for free agent defensmen and his name was on it, i thought he'd be intriguing to entertain his being a flyer, oh and my confidence for his improvement defensively rests sqarely on the chief craig berube . my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek as i type.
  4. @aziz i can only go by my limited sampling of watching him vs us and the caps, I don't notice him in the defensive zone so that tells me he's not awful back there, he's not passing the outlet to the tape of the opposition and stuff like that, so by my eyeball test he's looked okay to solid defensively. i also think he'll get better defensively he's still pretty young.
  5. the Ises are feeling pretty good about themselves after giving Detroit a real good beatdown on Tuesday.
  6. @flyerrod i wonder if we think he's an ass because he's not on our team.... i think like terp he's got a great skill set and is only going to improve , he has the skills to be a number 1 guy no question. I haven't heard anything about him being a bad teammate...and like a healthy sidney crosby , he's too good a player for me to say never because of his behavior. @terp I thought I saw Subban was going to be an RFA this year, his rookie deal is expiring.
  7. I think the price of either of those guys will be too steep for what i would want to pay, i think we've got a good young corps of players here that like playing together, i don't trade schenn or couturier for the right to try to sign one of these guys. those 2 will be ready for more minutes when Danny Briere's contract is up and the drop off from him to either of them might not be a drop off. i'd love to have either suter or weber , even pk subban for a long time and i'd be okay with spending only money and having a large portion of the cap tied up by them... i would hate to see us deal one of the prized centerman to land them.
  8. @RonJeremy In the last game versus the Pens , Schenn was out against Malkinstien and played him pretty well, he didn't get muscled out of the way and actually won several of their one on one battles. Plus Hartnell loves hitting that freak so, I'm just not seeing a pressing need to trade a guy so we bigger down the middle....I think we're good there. If we have to give up proven playoff production it needs to be to address the need for that top 3 defenseman . Jmo
  9. What did he give up for Versteeg ? A draft pick and what ? This team needs to address it's defense corps, JJ is a good player that should be considered in a straight up trade for JvR. There's no fleecing either way in my estimation . Both players have potential and address the trade partner's needs
  10. I like that someone actually choreographed a "sexy girl sheep" dance and found people to perform the "sexy girl sheep" dance. silly silly video thanks TedZep
  11. I'll bite, if there are no more injuries especially to the D-corps I sit tight this year and see what happens, I look for a serviceable 4-6 defenseman at the trade deadline if i can get one without doing a whole lot of damage to the room i make a deal....I do not trade schenn , monoboy, read, unless the deal knocks my socks off. then i go to the playoffs with what we've got & get these youngsters a taste of the tournament. in the offseason I find out what 20's situation is ... is he coming back will he retire ? once i have that answer, i throw chairman ed's money at shea weber, ryan suter, or pk subban. if they don't bite i throw less money at francois beauchamin and barrett jackman. i think in a year bryzgalov has figured out what he will need to do to be a good goalie again, and in 2013 we will be a tough out/contender.
  12. Toews 61 % on draws... damn. nice to see G in elite company
  13. yeah right, any deal for bobby ryan especially the one's put forth in this thread don't seem well thought out to me. i would however kick the tires on getzlaf...
  14. Couple of questions, does the Boston fanbase rag on Segiun ? just curious, when ever i see that kid he's blowing past our defensemen and ripping off a shot, am i basing my admiration of him from a limited sampling, does he have sh!tty games too , ones where he plays like a 22 year old ? we only see the shiny part of the penny ? JvR has so much ability, i think we all just hope he figures a way to combine it with effort so he can be a great player, the talent is there; he's got a great shot , is fing fast and will only get bigger once he gets his "man weight" on . the skill set to be one of the new breed of power forwards is in this kid, i think we're all afraid he'll wind up like JD Drew, or Sean Kemp.
  15. I was ticked about that goal too, but when i watched the replay, it reminded me of a "tweener" single through the infield that used to drive me crazy as a middle infielder i would see it, get to the spot to field the ball but it was between hops and would go through me, this would happen about once or twice a year... and my poor dads would have to hit a lot of grounders to me away from practice. .until i would be able to get over it, anyway sometimes you know you're there to make the play yet you don't.
  16. Try being over 40... I mean it beats the alternative but, crap. My pops bought me a 28 road sweater I'm good with that. Luckily my daughter out grew her Richards shirt
  17. Yes That's one game , when it turns into a month of score sheets that look like this and he's dominant on the ice like Tyler Seguin is then I'll reach my hand out to pull him from beneath the bus
  18. kind of , they were tough, but they had unreal goaltending from thomas and some really good luck when guys would hit desperate/diving defensemen instead of the rare open net. that bruins team is 1/3 as good without david krejci and he's not exactly hardnosed. you have to have a mix or skill and grit and voracek is a skill guy, he's big and tough on the puck, simmons is big and not a sissy and schenn is big and well i don't know, he took the body pretty well on malkenstien in pens game... i stand by the statement that simmonds schenn voracek could be a tough line to play against.
  19. @Hexy27 27 i really like the keystone patch for the "C's and A's" both those sweaters (Rangers too) looked really cool.
  20. @orange_crush he's stong on the puck and actually involves his linemates in the play, not everyone needs to run the fing goalie to be a player
  21. those are 3 big cats, if they can get some chemistry look out, that is a line that will wear a team out.
  22. I hope riding the pine today and for the foreseeable future does wake Bryzgalov up. Let's face it he's here for a long long time barring a miracle of the new CBA , & even if we get the one-time penalty free buy out , that should be used on #20, if Bryzgalov commits to being elite, i think he can do it, I really feel like he has misread the situation with this fanbase by underestimating our ability to be patient, with anything even claude fing giroux. i think he's feeling pressure to perform and has been unlucky with some deflections in the games, sometimes a trip to the pressbox can help when a player is pressing, so while he won't be in the pressbox, wearing the towel and touk may help the man to refocus we hosed ourselves with this deal though, because when i watch bob i feel like i'm seeing the real deal in the orange and black for the first time in a long time.

  24. @hf101 That fan base is easily the worst in the NHL. We have some good posters here that happen to be pens fans but for the most part those fans are out front pulling the bandwagon. When this current group of skilled players moves on that building will sit empty. Until they luck into another generational talent after 6 years of picking first. Then all of the sudden the rich tradition of penguins hockey will be back. it makes me crazy that they have more cups than us
  25. ding ding ding i liked how schenn took the body on malkenstien and out muscled him for the puck midway through the 1st and later he made a similar play on staal, whom i secretly love, i think schenn and couturier are going to fit because they are good enough to no matter where they wind up positionally, i was really pleased with the way those guys played last night.
