  1. If Grossman gives the Flyers that presence in front of their own net they are looking for and if they are able to sign him to a reasonable extension, then they have not overpaid for him IMO. Yet to be seen obviously, but I will say that of the D-men they were rumored to be after, I was hoping they would land Grossman the most. Glad they didn't give up anyone on the roster to get him.
  2. Ok, so I wasn't the only one who thought Kronwall left his feet. I thought maybe I was just blinded by my anger. If it were up to me, neither hit would warrent a penalty, but since Rinaldo was called for "charging" I thought it only fair that Kronwall get the same call.
  3. Wasn't that infuriating? I had to mute those clowns when they were praising Kronwall for his hit!
  4. Am I just being a homer here or are these charging calls against Rinaldo getting ridiculous? The one tonight against the Red Wings was brutal in my opinion. Seemed that Rinaldo was punished because of how hard he hit him. The NBC announcers were saying that Rinaldo was clearly hunting for a hit. Isn't that what most big hitters are doing out there? I honestly hope Rinaldo does not stop hunting for big hits, so long as he does them within the rules of the game. I could not see how many strides he took to get to the guy, so if he took the 3 needed then I stand corrected. From what I saw, it looked like a great hit that was penalized either for the name on the back of the jersey or the crest on the front.
  5. Sunday is the day we take 2 points from the Rags! We break the losing streak against them and we start our march to the post season! The Rags begin their downward spiral and by the time the playoffs get here, the Flyers are hot and healthy and the Rags are ice cold! Mike Rupp won't be bailing them out with 2 soft goals this time! Bob or Bryz (whomever is in net) won't allow it this time! How ya likin all this optimisim???? haha It's friday and my month end close is over. Things are looking rosey at the moment.
  6. I couldn't care less if he talks to the press or not, so long as he stops allowing 3-4 goals a game. Play like he did today and this team becomes more dangerous.
  7. I really hope the HBO cameras caught the little confrontation with Lavi and Ott for next weeks episode. I love that Lavi just pushed his way through
  8. No one from MTL will give the Flyers what they need. HELL NO to Gomez or Kaberle! Both will just put this team deeper into cap hell, all while taking a valuable piece from the team. I really don't want Gill. Yes, he is a big man, but the last thing they need is a big slow d-man to serve as a scarecrow out there. It is freakin December and the team is playing well with some very big players out of the line up. This is the perfect opportunity to groom the young kids and give them the extra minutes that they normally would not get. Lets keep giving Bourdon and Marshall the opportunity to prove themselves. I don't anticipate that this team will play at this high a level all year long (I have a short memory from last year) but it is hard to tinker with a line up that is playing this well. It is hard to really determine the problem areas until they shine through. Hopefully that never happens and we just fill in the gaps when our injured players return. Id like to see this team be able to go through the deadline without feeling they have to add any pieces. We remember how well it turned out when we picked up Versteeg! New players in the system don't always help, though that team was going to free fall with our without Versteeg anyway.
  9. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/20111210_Flyers_Notes___Laviolette__Stall_tactics_may_return.html Sounds like Lavi is keeping the stall tactics as an option. I'm with you on this though, I liked that they did it last game to make a point. They showed the league how ridiculous their system is, but it did not get them a win. Tonight I hope to see them beat the system and take a lead. That will force Tampa to attack. The Flyers are a better team and they should be able to beat these gimmick systems.
  10. Thus the reason I pay very little attention to the all star game anymore. The system is a joke
  11. What really steamed me about this was when watching the replay, Edzo starts saying what a smart move it was on Gerbe's part! Yeah, so smart that Grebe may have a concussion from his own stupid actions. This is not letting Bourdon off the hook at all. He had time to pull off and not make that check, but for Gerbe look and then turn his back to the play is just stupid on his part. Getting plastered face first into the boards for a power play is not worth it. Either get ready to be hit or try to avoid the hit all together. That little hobbit gets no sympathy from me...he knew what he was doing. Bourdon just should not have hit him...stupid decision.
  12. No, I never said 46 games are not important. Every game our team plays is important because obviously they are looking to get one of the top 4 records in their division. What we won't care about anymore will be the records of teams outside our division because their records have no bearing on the Flyers playoff chances. It does make the divisional games more interesting and more important then the out of division games in that they have a direct impact on wins and losses of teams within the division. I'm not defending the new system because I think it is fair or logical, rather playing devils advocate trying to find a reason to like it since it will be reality soon.
  13. As others have stated, I also do not like the idea of the top 4 teams in each division making the playoffs, as I don't see how it would be fair to allow a team in another division with a worse record to earn the right to play for the Cup while the team with the better record is setting their tee times. On the other hand, I see the intrigue that they are looking to create here. This set up will put much more focus on a teams individual division. Currently, you hope to win your division so that you get in as a top 3 seed, however, if you don't, then you are paying attention to all teams within the East to determine your seeding. Under this new system, you won't give a crap about what the teams outside your division are doing because they have no bearing on your playoff lives (until you have to play them in the playoffs). So this makes every single divisional game very important. Pens and Rags games will have even more meaning then they have now. They are trying to make the stakes of divisional games that much higher, thus exentuating the rivalries even more. It will make for some very interesting regular season hockey. The regular season will mean more then it does now. Is it fair, not at all (NHL never seems to care about fairness) but it will certainly make things interesting.
  14. Ah man, I wish I would have known he was in the area. Would love to see him live, especially rocking the Flyers jersey!
  15. I'd love to see them go back to the traditional division names.
  16. Hey, I never bought into the hype over him. I thought he was a good goalie, but I was not happy about the enormous contract. This thread is about holding Homer accountable for this move. He is paid as a goalie who is supposed to win games for this team even if they are not playing well. I really hope he even partially lives up to that status.
  17. ...because he appears to be lost in the woods again! A guy making the money he is making needs to come up with some of these saves. I'm trying not to kill him yet, but it is getting difficult. The team is not playing well in front of him lately, but he was supposed to be a goalie that will win games single handedly and carry the team through slumps. Hey, goalies are entitled to bad games, but he has already had his fair share so far this season.
  18. Don' t think it is real...the admin on that site usually has a little hammer after his name. Looks like Rick or some other off the wall person is just trying to stir the pot more over there. What an absolute waste land it is over there now! So nice to be settled in over here. "Welcom to Terra Nova...welcome home!" (Hopefully I'm not the only person who enjoys that show)
  19. I can't believe no one has stated the obvious 2 players Scottie Upshall and John Sim of course!
  20. And thats the biggest surprise to me, how much O this team has produced. I was not in too much of a panic about losing Carts and Richie, but I was concerned that goals would be harder to come by. I just kept saying how the D and goaltending would be good enough to overcome the drop in goals. Goaltending and D has not been brutal, but it has not been stellar by any stretch either.
  21. What I find particularly exciting is that they are in 1st place and I don't think this team has fully gotten it together yet! They are playing well, but there is potential for this team to be even better. I'm disappointed in the number of goals this team has given up. Too many boneheaded give aways and miscommunications has lead to goals against, but I am hoping that is still a product of this team working out the kinks.
  22. Before I read this, I was on the phone with the local Priest to get you in for an exorcism, because I was sure that you were possessed by Kuato! Phew!
  23. The more Rinaldo plays, the more I like him. He can hit, fight and has decent speed. It is amazing that he already seems to be getting a rep where all he has to do his cleanly hit a guy really hard and he is gone for charging. His AHL rep must have followed him up here. He may not be the typical heavy weight, but I think he will keep other teams in check if they fear he could line up one of their top players with a big hit.
  24. Sometimes these things happen away from the play, so it would be understandable if the refs just never saw it. In this instance, the play occurred where the puck was being played, so at least 1 of those officials had to be looking in that direction. It just shows the complete ineptitude of some of these officials, though I'm not at all shocked since Auger was one of the officials. He may be one of the worst ones in the NHL.
