  1. i'm gonna have to claim a half grunch here on this thread. i only got about half way through before the same ole theme kept repeating itself. the flyers are apparently deemed 'classless' here in this thread. i disagree. it IS a business and teams are in it to put the best team possible on the ice. that will seem cut throat if they're doing it right. if they're not... everyone's got fuzzy happy feelings ... and that's just great. especially if they can find a way to win as well. gagne should be smart enough to know that if there is no deal on paper, than there is nothing. if he really did shy away from negotiating with other teams, then he was negligent to himself. i cannot blame the flyers for any part of this gagne situation, but i can find a lot of blame for gags himself. he's a good player, i would have liked to have seen him back. it's unfortunate, but the flyers just don't see him in their plans. most likely because they want to see what Laughton can do. now... a common refrain of this board is that the flyers have, historically, had a problem with re-signing/signing aging veterans and not leaving enough roster spots for their emerging youth. well, as soon as the flyers appear to be listening to this type of logic, this board gets all fussy about exactly what we complain about most. it seems right here in this thread we can see the fickle nature of the philadelphia flyer's fan. stop signing aging veterans!! stop bringing back personnel based on loyalty!! oh.. wait.. that is until it's gagne! how dare they smite gagne! or the next player that you want them to bring back or resign.
  2. what? it's not like they told him to go out and get cancer!!!
  3. Please let me know what you find cannoli... Frickin twnyc
  4. I don't know if anyone did the yahoo league last short season... But I was wondering if there were any plans to run the league this year?
  5. oh timmy p... that great wealth of hockey knowledge and in depth analysis.
  6. simply put.. he's a gamer. the bigger the game, the bigger the player he is. i think he does make the team better... his contract? meh. the NMC is horrible and the money is probably too high. i'm less worried about the money, though, cause the cap is sure to balloon again.
  7. umm... how do you know they didn't? i haven't heard any complaints from gagne's camp yet and until then, i'll assume nothing was ever guaranteed as i would have expected from homer.
  8. detroit is apparently still in talks with cleary as well. so it's not like they don't want him anymore.
  9. hey Howie... greetings, i'm a bit confused... maybe i missed something. i thought mez was fully cleared just very recently.
  10. i'm not so sure about that jammer. he's had many knee injuries, but worse yet... concussions.
  11. am i the only one who HASN'T given up on Mez? he's 27 FCOL! yes, when he's healthy, he's great. and yes, he's had a bad run of injuries. BUT, IF he can stay healthy for a season and play as he's capable... he's better than any trade for a D man that we could realistically make. in other words, i think the upside to keeping him is much greater than the downside. maybe it is just me though.
  12. have to agree here. i don't know what the flyer's plans for him are, but if he's still got something left... he's been very effective boxing out the crease on the PK over his career. the flyer's haven't had that since pronger, so it's a hole. this is why i can understand the tryout as much as others really hate it. i don't think anything has been guaranteed here so it's a no lose situation. why all the negativity?
  13. <puts the burning stake and pitchfork down> well done homer!
  14. if its a 5 year deal, do we get out the pitchfork and torches and go for homer!? that would be a huge mistake.
  15. just as an aside... can we KEEP this thread in the Flyers forum? one thing i miss about the old forum is that we could talk about anything within our Flyer's forum. It's been kinda bummin me out about this new incantation of our beloved forum.
  16. Frank seems to be a narcissistic egoist. Is that redundant? I think so. Anyway, Frank likes to pick one focus on every story where he thinks he has an original genius idea, or outlook on, and then tries to run it out there like it's the holy grail of ideas. In other words... he's an imbecile.
  17. i do happen to think Read is the odd man out here. that's not to say that he's not a valuable winger. it's just that his impending UFA status next year and assumed raise are not within the Flyer's plans... or at least it would seem. he's a solid winger that could bring some good value in return in a trade, so I think that's what makes his departure likely. I'd like to hang on to him and see where we are next spring before I part ways because I think he could bring more in a trade deadline deal, but I can see the merit to swinging him this off-season to sweeten a deal for a solid D or G. We don't need to dump him for cap space this summer if we can deal one of Mez and/or Coby. We have Gagne waiting in the wings(no pun intended).. who I think will be a solid player for us this year if we can afford him. Lock him down to a 2 year deal on the cheap and i think he could possibly produce equal to that of Read.
  18. FWIW... pinochhio tweeted yesterday that homer said tomorrow will be 'crazy'. if homer says it will be crazy, we can't even begin to be able to handle it.
  19. Trade him now!!! His value will never be higher!
  20. Buncha Debbie downers here. Vinny is still a premier player in this league. Almost PPG with a good FO % these are both things the flyers gave struggled mightily with. At a $4.5 AAV... It's a good deal. Does it solve our more pressing issues!? Goal and D... Noooo, but this is not the end of the dealing... Obviously. So get your nanny pants changed and be patient.
  21. might be the first time teammates fight in a real game.
  22. that Morrissey kid looks pretty good... oh wait... we're supposed to be looking at Morin?
  23. Leafs fans are the most delusional fans of any sport... anywhere.
