  1. He knew the job was dangerous when he took it, it's said but I don't feel sad for him. It sucks, but he has to suck it up, and man up. Know your limitations and work within them. No visor...no problem. Guess what, I don't think the visor would of helped much if the stick is slanting in an upward motion, it still makes contact inside the visor. I thinks sports googles are better options for eye protection, the one with 170 degree peripheral vision. I hope the best for him and his recovery... It starts from the inside out.
  2. Ya and we had a chance to draft him next, but LA got to him first, still remember his goal and celebration afterward...it sure drew a spark to our crowd.
  3. damn you dirty frank: con los terrorristass...ta ta tastastasta tatatatatatatatatatatata....BOOOM!
  4. Looks like a jpeg just did the harlem shuffle on me
  5. Danny said in the video interview,(in his words) he does not want to move. He wants to stay a Flyer. Does he have any pride? Of course he does. But his pride is in check, he is a family man, when he was single it was different but as he being a parent he is looking out for his little morritos. Now if the media gets all TMZ'd out of control, than ya he will pick up tent and move to were he can have peace with his watoto. It is what it is, agree to disagree with a strawman and his crow(someone will eat crow if this don't stop) Riding on the train, riding on the L train... My brotha's from another motha's, can You dig it!
  6. Maa Booy, Ma Boy! Lil Lindros. Tiny Tocchett. Now you see him people...now you startin' to seee himm.... It's too bad I didn't....missed the game. Woke up this morning and said... Nah, don't wanna waste a couple hours of my day, when I could be doing other things, just like I missed last game. I gave my team no effort, in trying to watch the Panthers game, and they gave no effort either. I guess they showed up on us today, but I wasn't at the door today to see them. Come back next time and I'll be there to see you.... I showed up to see you and you guys never showed up. Glad to see you guys starting to take it for real. Lets Go Flyers. Lets get to .500!(.....wow!)
  7. I've always wanted to see Hartnell Briere Jake on the same line, Jake is better than Leino and that line was potent. Actually Simmer instead of Hartsy, but Hartnell has been playing big since last year.
  8. It's nice to hear other perspectives.......just another reason why we're here. GO FLYERS!
  9. The reason I put Schenn on the 4th line, is not because thats where he belongs. I would rather his line start a few times in the season as the first line and not label these groups as 1 - 4 but maybe label them as names. He is talented and we have enough centers to roll 4 high quality center lines with good defensive awareness. It seems all our players check, with the occasion of Danny B. once in a long while. Fedotenko - B.Schenn - Rinaldo McGinn - Giroux - Voracek Hartnell - Briere - Read Talbot - Couturier - Simmonds
  10. I remember a year when we rolled 4 lines like they were 3, non stop waves. Like soldiers jumping in and out of foxholes.
  11. Hartnell and Mez are nearing form to head back in the lineup. How does our lineup look to be setup? Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek Read - Briere - Simmonds McGinn - Couturier - Talbot Fedotenko- B.Schenn - Rinaldo I would probabely put it like this though: McGinn - Giroux - Voracek Hartnell - Briere - Read Talbot - Couturier - Simmonds Fedotenko - B.Schenn - Rinaldo We still have Knuble, Sestito, Wellwood, and Harry Z. I'm not too sure of 3rd and 4th line sets. But maybe there's a better line combo you guys can think of. On D. well we have: Braydon Coburn - Erik Gustafsson Luke Schenn - Kimmo Timonen Andrej Meszaros - Nicklas Grossmann Bruno Gervais Kurtis Foster
  12. Let's keep the back of the hairs from bristleing fellas, Polaris has his opinion on Timo, and to each his own. Timo is a wounded soldier. A dam good one. He has the heart of a Lion. Our Viking's ship is almost set to sail.......BUT NOT TODAY! he is wearing out, But IS NOT DONE! He is the most valuable defensemen in the free market that never was. Homer picked him up for another year at a respectable price. To the non capoligist, they scratch there heads saying it was too much. But the price is right. Am I happy he got that much yes and no. Yes because HE DESERVES IT. No because I would of liked for him to take less for the team to have more cap room available, but by no means am I disappointed he got what he got, it's fair market value. I don't agree he is not a top 4 defensemen, he is. His skills and experience say so, at all levels. He has been pacing himself five on five, he's smart that way, there's no need to kill himself on every shift. Though his heart is always in the hunt and will join the hunt because he is a warrior. His longevity does focus into play and therefore I see Polaris point, but at the same time, he has to understand that not every player is going to play big minutes, but smart minutes. When you go over the boards is just as important as how long you stay out on the other side. Timo's stamina index is alot less than before, so you play him within that spectrum and you will be fine, you push over it and that's when the problems will surface. His skills should shine more during the playoffs, and that's when it matters. And that's when you put him as your number 1-3 position. If you can afford to put him at 3 - 5 position you do it so he has enough left in the tank if you end up playing game 5 - 7 in the finals. Claude Lemieux was a monster in the playoffs.
  13. Signing Kimo to a short term contract is not bad. We can't argue about other players when the situation was different...we where getting Shea Weber remember? Also the two Minn. boys as well. Put this on another post, but for some reason didn't update. This is such a shortened season and several injuries to compound the situation, we can't honestly make an assessment on our young players. At the end of the season Anaheim has a few forward UFA's to complement our Centers. We do need to look at our Defense but in a patient way, we aren't reloading we ARE rebuilding, with that many rookies that played last year and so many young players now. We are in a rebuilding situation. We just happen to have the highest point production for rookies in the league last year. We have a few vets, but the core of our team is young. It's hard to be in this situation when we're use to having Pronger and Carle complement each other Coburn and Timo with Mez and his complement. That was solid D. We lost our High Mobility D in Carle and the calming Veteren leadership in Pronger. Those are big losses, two key positional Defensemen, and the trickle affect it caused we are witnessing. We did add toughness on D in Grossman and Luke Schenn. Mez is offensive minded so losing him bottlenecks our Defensive mobility as well. We just need a solid mobile defensemen that has good stickhandleing skills and we should be in a good position. Someone mentioned bringing back our Harvard grad forward back(Powe?) and putting him on Defense. I like that idea. We seem to pick solid forwards. What if we converted these Forward picks into Defensemen and tell them we have a spot for them on D. Imagine if B. Schenn or Coots were our D, imagine them joining the rush, they are Defensive minded with an eye for offense. In the event we were slim on our Forward corps. we could put these guys back on the Wing or Center and when we had our injured Forwards back, they could go back to playing Defense. This way we wouldn't have to trade away our talents, and when the market opened up for an All Star Defensemen we would be able to pick one up. Crazy thoughts on a crazy day. What's in your backpack?

  15. Post a reply from that computer when its online so that we cans all cheer.
  16. Just as ballet does a football player good. I think figure skating would do a defensemen good. The agility on some of those figureskaters would do some wonders on our D's reactionary positional skating. We can have our Coffey and drink it too.
  17. Finishing off the year on another Team, to then rejoin the Flyers after the summer isn't that bad after all. If that's what actually happens is OK, but in all honesty I don't know if the organization will resign the players after the season is over. I mean look at what happened to Carle(played the good soidler), look at Jagr(played the good soilder), to some extent Gagne. All these players never came back. Now you might say they went somewhere else where the money was greater, but in the beginning they all had good intentions with signing for the club and the club told them to please hold off til' later in the year. Same thing with Ville Lieno. It just ended up that all these players probabely felt snubbed to a lesser degree and said, "I need to find a job somewhere, I need my money and I need it now!"
  18. It seems like once you reach the top, you quit. Whatever happened to improving your weakness so that at least they are at a baseline level. When Jagr arrived it helped Hartnell wake up to the fact that he needed to improve his skating, and "Hartnell down" was not often seen as much after he worked on his skating. What does it take to look inside and say to yourself, "Damn I suck at this, but if I can just keep on practicing at least I'll be proficient enough at it that it will no longer be a weakness. Complacency, we all go through it, but when do you break through it. It's all easier said than done, that's for sure.
  19. All the rows were lined up before I hit the post button.....what a mess.

  21. What to do about the upcoming UFA's Any suggestions? This situation will be upon us soon What are your thoughts?
  22. @Vanflyer If we were not making the playoffs... I would only loan(last year of RFA players) our players out for high draft picks or good D prospects, as long as they would want to resign with us back for a few more years til they retire. At this point Timo deserves a cup in his waning career. I know it's unorthodox but if you think outside the box it could be a win/win situation. He comes back to our team and finishes his career here. If you think of our team as a business you look at the parts you can improve on and still try to retain your assets in the long term. I would loan a few assets if it would recoup us a good ROI (return on investment) and we get to still keep our mature assets next year.
  23. Maybe Coburn should shut one eye before he takes that slapshot. May be his dimensional vision will improve.
