  1. There has to be some kind of carrot that is dangling in front of Homer right now. Can we trade Walker while he is in the AHL? Maybe Homer is trying to free up another contract slot (this might be more valuable to him than the cap space)? I have no idea. Just trying to make some sense of this.
  2. I think it is way too early to call Schenn a NHL bust. I remember Giroux tearing up juniors and then falling completely flat in his first NHL camp (he was expected to make the team in his first camp). He spent half the year in the AHL and that was great for him. I think this is the path Schenn is taking. If he gets some consistent time on the Flyers with consistent linemates I think he will finally breakthrough.
  3. @Dynamo 47 I agree. Most young players need a season or two with consistent minutes in the NHL. Giroux struggled at first and now look at him!
  4. @DaGreatGazoo Ha! I wish I could!
  5. I don't believe he counts against the cap. He was moved to LTIR: http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nhl/Blair_Betts/1874692/betts-lower-body-has-been-moved-to-the-long-term-injured-reserve
  6. At the time I was kind of high on Harding. I probably would have been ok with this deal then but definitely not in hindsight! Glad it didn't go through.
  7. I agree! I purchased a WC Lindros jersey. I am that pumped to see him and LeClair involved with Flyers hockey again!
  8. I hate the OTL point. What other sport gives out a point for losing? If they are intent on keeping the shootout then they should get rid of the OTL point as there is a clear victor to the game. I would only be in favor of a tie point if they were to bring ties back.
  9. I really wish they could have done something to get Hextall in for the game. The goalie situation leaves alot to be desired...
  10. How did this interview go? Anyone want to recap? I hate Mikey Miss any time he tries to talk hockey. For the most part he is a hockey hater but talks about it because he knows people want to hear about it. He has little no clue about the game. When it comes to other sports I like listening to him.
  11. I'll try to summarize as best I can. Just as an FYI it will be available as a podcast later today/tonight. I was kind of surprised by the questions they asked him. They basically asked him the questions that we as fans wanted to hear the answers to. First they talked to him about Bob Clarke and asked him if there is any animosity left. Eric basically said the hatchet was buried a long time ago. The hosts mentioned that they are more excited about the alumni game than the actual WC because they are looking forward to seeing Eric and Clarke on the ice together. The one host (Nick) went off on a tangent at this point. He basically spoke about how much he hated that Lindros' name was taboo with the Flyers for so long. You basically couldn't go to that arena and mention Eric's name around the team. Lindros was pretty good about it and basically said something to the effect that he is glad they could all come together again. Next they asked him about the Stevens hit that ended his career here. They asked him what he remembers of it. Eric said that he remembers playing that night and waking up in a hospital but not much beyond that. Nick asked Eric if he had any regrets as a result of that hit. At this point Eric got a little choked up. He basically said that he is/was frustrated about the way things played out. He was very melancholy with his response and kind of sounded like he was choking back some emotion. They moved on to talk about the WC and the alumni game. Eric said that Renberg is still a possibility and that he (Eric) is working on getting him there. Basically Renberg is in western Canada doing TV for Juniors the week of the WC. Eric and Renberg are talking about it and looking into whether or not he can make it. Eric also spoke about a charity event he has with CHOP and John LeClair. Overall it was a great interview. Lindros sounded very happy to be back in Philly and it sounds like the hatchet between he and the Flyers is officially buried. The part of the talk that was emotional was the talk about Scott Stevens. He says he is over it but I believe he still has quite a ways to go to get over that. He says he still has some concussion symptoms from time to time but he has learned to deal with them.
  12. He's on right now for anyone that wants to tune in.
  13. I think Winnipeg will work out in the long run. If I remember correctly the Jets originally left because of the small arena and the weak Canadian dollar. They had decent attendance it was just that their arena/market was too small. If you sort that list by average attendance all of a sudden Winnipeg falls to 23rd in the league (even with 100% attendance).
  14. Winnipeg seems to be doing pretty well attendance wise: http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/sort/homePct They may have a smaller arena but they are definitely getting more fans to each game.
  15. Brindy is retired but if this were a couple of years ago I would be right there with you. I never liked seeing him in another uniform.
  16. I'd like to second Zubrus. He isn't an elite player but he is good and consistent. It's always bothered me that we never stuck it out with him.
  17. What about Seattle? I think it would be great to add a team to the northwest and you don't get into another cross conference re-alignment situation.
  18. I don't think they are going to go for the easy route (even though it makes sense). I've been reading that there are too many teams in the west wanting into the east so they can generate more revenue. The thing is if they fragment the eastern conference teams too much the league may end up losing more rather than gaining.
  19. I don't think the league needs any more rules that are up to the judgement of the officials. There are already way too many questionable calls as it is.
  20. @DaGreatGazoo Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to have a sharpie and a camera just in case!
  21. So I won some club box seats in an office pool. I checked the site below: http://www.mypremiumtix.com/club-boxes.aspx It lists a private bar service. Does that mean drinks are included? I only ever sat in a club box once before and it was so long ago I can barely remember it.
  22. I agree but imo there shouldn't have been another 27 after Hextall. He deserves to get his jersey retired!
  23. I second a Hextall nomination and would add in Lindros as well. Seriously we won't ever see anyone else don 88 in the same way again.
  24. They really seem to drag their feet on retiring or honoring anyone who wasn't apart of the cup teams.
  25. A four conference setup? Do we really need four conferences? I kind of liked the idea of realigning some teams and going back to the two division conferences. One of the things they should do is bring back the traditional conference/division names.
