  1. There is a serious problem when educated fans know more than the guys being paid millions to make key decisions!! Just signing Montour or Savard could have avoided this whole mess. No attention paid at all to advanced stats? Who are the pro scouts saying this is a good move...I WANT NAMES!! DID CHUCK GO ROGUE???
  2. Corsi stats for career (cf%) Risto 46.0 Ghost 57.9 Hagg 42.3 LMAO!!
  3. HA! True enough...bring back the crazy ex goalie who was scared to trade!!
  4. Well, we should STRIVE to get it back. We have lost our way. This soft **** is not us. Go back to the roots within the present rules. Lance Pitlick, although a bottom six guy played good hard nosed Flyer hockey. You can target talented hard nosed players through the draft and trades. Get back to basics...make them bleed and win at the same time. Agreed 100%. Risto is dead from the neck up. The eye test and every advanced stat bare out this brutal, yet honest truth. As far as I can see, we are doomed until Flyer upper management realizes Chuck SUCKS!! That will be 2 years of dead time!!
  5. OK...you literally took the only slight positive I listed and ignored the context of the entire post. Flyer hockey is taking the shortest route to the puck and arriving in ill humor. A little blood does not hurt either. That has been the teams identity. We have lost our way. You do know you can be tough and talented at the same time (not saying Risto represents this either). We need to strive towards more Rick Tocchets and less Jake Voracheck.
  6. The only positive is he plays tough Flyer hockey. We all knew he hit hard though. Pairing this dude with Sanheim (who often looked LOST in his own end last year) makes the whole 2nd pairing a cluster****!! We would have been way better off just moving Ghost there...minus physicality but plus picks, cap space and flexibility...same negative defense.
  7. Some of the comments on hockeybuzz Kevin Adams = assassin Sabres fan: The stench of losing just came off our franchise! Yzerman just paid #52 for Leddy, who is better Sad day to be a Flyers fan. I hang my head in shame!!
  8. Just wait till he signs the huge extension...BEFORE he plays a single game for the Flyers. Fletcher will be hunted like a dog with rabies!!
  9. In the words of Metallica....Sad, but true!!
  10. Brad Marsh >>>>Risto. He couldn't move well, but he thought the game well. Risto has NOTHING between the ears!!
  11. Risto makes 5.5 mill on his last year. He will demand a raise, which Fletcher WILL HAVE TO GIVE HIM. Or, he stinks so bad we let him walk, sadly...this is the best outcome!@
  12. I booked a Vacation Day to watch this draft....F#$K YOU FLETCHER!!@#€$&&%
  13. Its truly disgusting. After signing this BUM to a long term deal, we can forget about having the 7 or 8 mill Coots will need. Cue up the funeral March... I truly believe Risto is one of the worst d men in the league. Myers has a WAY higher hockey IQ. ..
  14. We sent out Patrick, Myers,Ghost, Hagg, a 1st, 2 2nds, a 7th AND lost 3 mill in cap space for Ellis and Risto. Plus, 1 long term deal in Ellis and a 1 year deal for 5.5 that will be extended due to the price that was paid. Seeing this **** show Risto will get 7 years at 7 mill per...pffft...we are ****ed!!
  15. Well, for starters, Montour is WAY better than Risto, as is Savard and they are UFAs...only cap hit.
  16. This is flat out disgusting. We are the laughing stock of the league!! Any good will Fletch had in the Ellis deal is GONE!! One of the most wretched Flyer deals in recent history!! This is a GM killer...or we can hope!!
  17. Was actually expecting a much longer response...slipping in old age?? LOL...Dont think it had anything to do with blowback. Combo of injuries, lack of cap space and Ghosts propensity for ignoring the defensive zone ...all contributing factors in Ghost not getting claimed. We can agree to disagree...yes?
  18. Perfect summary of the context of this deal.
  19. Circumstances are different, but the teams holding the cards, or in this case cap space are not gonna care about extenuating circumstances ....the price is the price, which is the point I was making. Agreed though, Flyers are not one or two moves away. Perhaps the smart play was to keep Ghost, hope he plays well enough you can get a real return, or at least not get raped and pillaged....lol.
  20. Lets clarify first. You stated GMs don't make waiver claims. Then, you moved the bar tossing in the word "significant"...much like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown .... A list of waiver wire claims in the last few months of the regular season...Sami Vatanen, a fine top 4 d man, Victor Mete, young budding star for the Sens, Anton Forberg...some compare him to a young Hasek... Your wait is over fine Sir!! https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/hockey-player-news/
  21. It really does seem helpless, huh? Quite a pickle we are in...and we are not the worst off by a long shot. In this kind of environment, if teams that have a ton of cap space dont come out contenders, its gross mismanagement. Seems like Arizona and the NYI set the going rate, a few years of an underproducing, often injured Andrew Ladd at 5 mill+ was 2nd rounders...just wow. My estimates getting rid of Jake...are 1st, 2nd and Frost...or something very close. Much more if your dealing with the tight purse strings in Krackenville. Best I can see for Giroux is a 1 year deal at 2.5-3 mill. If that is not sufficient, bye. M
  22. Well, you can count actual offer sheets in the past decade on one hand. Waiver claims happen on weekly basis. Just because GMs perform both functions does not draw a valid correlation between the two.
  23. That appears to be the sad, accurate truth.
  24. I dont know what people expected?? Ghost was offered through the entire league...FOR FREE!! No takers! The 2nd rounder sucks but if your gonna free up cap space, its the cost of doing business in today's NHL. Glad it was 2022 and not this years 2nd. 2 players from the OHL ranked in the first 2 rounds means potential stars out there that scouts just did not get good enough looks at. Maybe a down year but this few rated picks translates into opportunity from where I sit.
  25. Just tossing Hall out there because he's listed as one of the top UFAs this year. Halls production, or lack of it are weird. He was much better in Boston but appears not interested at times. Guessing the MVP year was an anomaly although once GMs know its in there...
