  1. Lavy has benched JvR on numerous occasions before with little or no results. I hope it sinks in this time, but my finger is starting to point towards Lavy with all his line juggling. He needs to keep the same guys together at all times barring injury.

And WTF he went with Simmonds on the shootout? That was the laziest attempt at a shoot out (From Simmonds) that I have ever witnessed. Maybe he should bench Simmonds before JvR. Wayne must be sick or something because he was get man handled big time yesterday.

Anyhow, the other night you could hear Berube and JvR going at it on the bench (the Vs mic feed was picking it up clear as day). I am starting to suspect that the contract that JvR was rewarded with last summer is going to his head. He (JvR) should be very careful because Holmgren has no problem sending a player off to the hockey gulags..... ask Jeff Carter.

In respect to the lines, I would like to see:

    Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr

    Simmonds-Briere-Voracek

    JvR-Couturie-Nodl

    Rinaldo-Talbot-Harry Z

Oh and if they can send Lilja back to Detroit that would be great.

Other than that, Lavy needs to simplify the breakouts because they are spending a lot of time back peddling in their own zone. Speaking as Lavy: "For every cross ice d-zone pass that I see there should be 20 lashings. And if you must pass the biscuit through the D Zone, you better put some damn heat on it." Well that is what I would say if I were Lavy.

  2. "Wow... Blocker is right"

    Jeez...Don't act so surprised.

    That came out wrong Blocker.

It was supposed to be like WOW....(the Flyers are bad at faceoffs)...... Blocker is right in the respect of getting somebody to teach these kids how to take a draw.

Hey their (Flyers) new thing is just falling on the puck during the faceoff.

  3. This forum is great. It crushes philly.com hands down. It's fast, easy to navigate and does not crash.

To me, even without the trolls, philly.com was getting worse than hockeytraderumors.com

    (if anybody ever posted there)

Good to see a lot of familiar peeps from the old boards and I looking forwards to discussing the season with you guys.

Anybody from clarkemustgo or hockeybuzz pre2007?

  4. Who was the Flyers last Faceoff Beast? Aside from Carter, I cannot remember one for the last 5 years or so. Brindy was good, Premeau?

Wow... Blocker is right, they can get an old Salt in there to teach these kids how to win a damn faceoff

  5. Yeah, that's the only way to do it NMX. Most boards are like this. The old Philly board was unique in that and many other ways.

Glad to see you here btw. I won't be going back to the other board. Made that decision. I won't give those a-holes the satisfaction.

Yeah I won't/ can't go back. I guess I am finally banned over there. Go figure, trashing a troll got me banned. That or pretending I was JMT_Admin, probably the later of the two.

Anyhow, this place is 1000x better.

  6. Meltzer over on Hockey Buzz is showing the lines like this:

    Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr

    JVR - Couturier - Voracek

    Nodl - Talbot - Simmonds

    Rinaldo - Holmstrom - Shelley/Zolnierczyk

I guess no Briere yet again. So much for a day-today injury

    • Yeah Voracek is not doing much. I think he needs to simplify his game and shoot the pill any chance he gets. There is being unslefish, than there is Voracek. Same thing with W Simmonds, he seems to be in a bad funk. Hartnell is on fire and Wayne is a ghost.

    • I wouldn't mind seeing a line of Simmonds-Cooter-Voracek.

    • While Couturier is making us all forget Carter, it would be nice if Voracek would help the matter, and Simmonds too (Richards). He's looked awful since coming out gangbusters in the first couple of games. Schenn gets the pass for now.

  7. Bob in Nyet? Interesting approach; however, I would go right back to Bryzgalov. He looked solid with the exception of a few fluky puck decisions; i.e., playing the puck casually while a Sabre was coming down fast on him.

I also question Mezaros with Lilja, but I guess there really is no other choice.

I like that Couturier is getting his props and being placed on the 2nd line.

This is kind of off topic, but Couturier really had some good bounces go his way this year. All things considered he is playing a much bigger role than most of us could have guessed. I honestly thought that he would be back in the Jr's now. The injuries really allowed him to showcase his talent.

I have all but forgoten who Jeff Carter was for the Flyers.

    GO FLYERS!!!

  8. You know, I changed it, but forgot that it takes like 24hrs to kick in.... Rookie move on my part becuase Rick is dumb enough to fall for it and I don't think the admin has been over there for about 2 months.

Oh well, I sealed my fate on that one and would suspect that I am banned or soon to be banned over there.

  9. The way I look at is, if Bryzgalov can put in a solid effort and the D is given a little clearance to push the trashmen out of the crease, I say we win it 5-3.

Now if we do win, and I hope that the Flyers do, who is going over to the land of the lost (philly.com) to break Ricky's balls?

Can I say balls on here?

  10. I would keep Schenn. His upside is too great to just let go after 2 games in the O&B.

I would like Sbisa, but not at the cost of Schenn. I would give them Read and our 2nd from LA for Sbisa. I doubt they would take it, but it seems fair.

Read has shown he is ready for the big time and the 2nd would probably be around 48-49th pick.

  11. Cool, thank you for the update HF. I was searching the net for a look as to what is going on with Danny B.

I actually like on this team too, a few years ago I couldn't stand him in the O&B, but after a few playoff runs he has grown on me.

Read alone will not get us much in my opinion. At least not a #1 or #2 D-man.

In any case, it is good to finally have the depth in the farm system to have call ups that can contribute.

  12. I am confused to the extent of their injuries. I am pretty sure I saw Read play up the the last minute of the Cains game. The thing that strike me more is that they waited till Tuesday evening to announce his injury.

I am not trying to make more out of it than I have to, but it just seems odd that they are both out especially since Briere's injury was not supposed to be longer then a game.

Do you have any further insight into their injuries?

The NHL is way too quiet on injuries to players....

On a side note (nothing but pure speculation on my end), would you move Briere and Read for a solid #1 or #2 Defensemen?

  13. I just wanted to take a minute to thank Digity for taking the time to create this forum. I hope that we can get a good group of hockey fans from the philly.com message board to post over here.

Again, thank you for taking the time to create this for us.
