  1. See, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, given what they gave up. You make a safe move that doesn’t cost anything, and if you make the playoffs it’s a bonus correct me if I’m wrong, but this is a business, right? If they make the playoffs that means more money for everyone, including the players. I would assume you’d have some pissed off guys in the coveted “room” we all talk about, if you just packed it in when they could get paid
  2. I’m still confused. I thought the concensus is that we want the Flyers to NOT make it
  3. After they traded Walker, with the injuries they had, someone had to play defense. I would’ve been fine if they didn’t make that trade, but I don’t see it as anything more than plugging a hole. Much ado about nothing
  4. We must be reading different posts then. I have read people who argue to keep a player or two as part of the future, but I don’t recall reading anyone saying not to rebuild, or that assets should be traded for a player or two to get this team into the playoffs
  5. Reports are that Torts will be back next season. I guess the Flyers think he is the right guy. It’s Funny how they always know what they want in spite of what we think
  6. And UFOs will be responsible for 80 foot waves off the coast of Africa there isn’t anyone on this forum that is against them rebuilding
  7. Tell me one time, just one, where an opposing player has had a career game against the Flyers …go ahead. I’m waiting ….. I dare ya
  8. comprehending things is difficult for you....like hyperbole for example
  9. also known as, "The day the Flyers were neutered". If more Flyers bytch slapped that little puss, the result wouldve been different
  10. disregard...i just re-read @radoran POV
  11. This is another one of those trick questions, although I doubt that was @icehole intent Considering the failures of this team over the decades, there is a pretty high percentage they will fail at whatever they do. So to say "yes" Torts was the wrong guy, is a safe play. Its highly probable, given how often this franchise fires coaches, that Torts will not succeed, with the SC being the benchmark. To say "no", he is the right choice, is akin to admitting who you will vote for in the next presidential election. You're going to catch schit no matter what, and going back to what I just said, he's probably going to get fired/promoted, sooner than later. To support the guy means it will most likely be thrown in your face that you were wrong, and an idiot for not being able to see it coming. That said, I love the guy and think he is the right choice. If left to do his job I think he can build a contender. I dont buy into this argument that he is too tough and the team "ran out of gas". So if he had eased up and given them nap time and safe rooms, what would that have brought? A playoff berth? more wins? Im pretty sure the consensus here is that the team shouldn't have accomplished either, since it is adverse to the coveted draft position. Personally, if professional athletes are complaining that its tough, and they can't meet the rigors of a full season, and what it takes to compete, I don't really need to watch or support the sport.
  12. Simply put, because there was a chance. A hope. and a lot of people are sports fans who are passionate and hopeful. There is nothing wrong with that. Any fan of the Flyers who hoped they would make the playoffs, or hoped they’d win a series, should not be brow beaten, insulted or shamed. It’s their right as a fan to root in any manner they see fit as far as I can tell, management didn’t abandon the rebuild to chase the playoffs. They held out hope because winning games for your fan base is the ultimate responsibility. I think they did both. And now, for obvious reasons, the team fell short. There will be a lot of off season changes to the lineup. The criticism however will continue. It’s as guaranteed as homer and his lackeys were clueless
  13. Ok. Let’s says that true (I believe it), what were they supposed to do, cut him? Bench him? And if they do, how do you explain that? What have they done that contradicts this? the team was playing well and winning. No one saw that coming. Should Danny call down to Torts and say “knock it off”?
  14. The assumption here is that they don’t do this. They kept X players for a playoff run, disregarding the rebuild. But we have no idea if they actually did this or not. Decades of watching an organization do this very thing can lead you to this logical conclusion. But why then trade arguably your best defenseman? That doesn’t fit the narrative personally I don’t think the market was there for the players the Flyers should have moved. And we know they overvalued Laughton, making him untradeable. In fact, it seems like he was the only player they willingly held onto for his value to the team. This does fit the narrative the Flyers hold no leverage. They don’t have veteran assets that are expendable and desired by other teams. No one really wants our junk. As it stands they are in a better position right now then they have been for many seasons. i don’t really care if they make the playoffs or not. I just want to see them work hard and continue to improve in all areas, including the front office
  15. @flyercanuck whats moves should they have made, or didn’t make, that have derailed the rebuild? seems to me they did what they could, and here we are, right where everyone wanted them to be
  16. There seems to be a lot of disappointment that they are crumbling and most likely out of the playoffs. i thought that’s what most here wanted somewhere in this thread someone was pointing out all the needs this team had in players, then suggested the Flyers didint fill those needs because they were going for the playoffs. I don’t get it. As far as I am aware the only player they didn’t move on from was SL. I thought everyone was happy about that? And if they had moved more players at the TD, for picks or prospects, they would be in the same spot they are now. And can someone please explain to me how Hart was their fault? you can’t hope for your team will suck, then get pissed when they don’t make the playoffs.
  17. its the Flyer way. He eventually becomes GM, Briere becomes president, Flyers dont win a cup, we all suffer its a proven formula
  18. They really the bed (again), re-signing this guy. Its beyond me why they chose to do it....in the middle of a rebuild
