  1. JVR can help someone and likely would love out. The Wild have kind of taken a step backward after looking like legit West contenders earlier. So it is possible this can happen. Both teams would walk away happy
  2. Well well. Some kid by the name of Stillman who has been playing 16 minutes pr game from the Canucks is now a Buffalo Sabre? I really believe this is all about defense and stay at home defense. We have Dahlin and Power who thinks he is a winger.
  3. I’ll pass on that. Nor Dahlin or Power. You guys all seem to be fine with the one inmate who is running the asylum. John freakin Tortorella!!! Are you kidding? He won a Calder cup here for our Amerks ages ago before he won with Lacavelier way back but just like Keenan who won in Rochester also, he is now half nuts
  4. Dont have the time to research it and they are non stop on the NFL most major networks. I do not even care about the NFL draft until I actually know who is picked. But if you are correct, it sounds like another McDavid and Eichel are available? If so, the Flyers will have a fair share of balls in the lottery machine. They should land a couple of good players. It seemed that Carter Hart was going to be their franchise goalie? Do you still think he is the guy? I am up in the air on Luukenen. I am a bit more for trying to get a guy that is established a bit. Do you have any idea what the Kings did with Peterson? I think he is gone? Because Quick is still there. I would have kept Peterson and dealt Quick, but they are winning much to my surprise. I think they may be the biggest surprise so far. And the Kracken.
  5. It’s not easy to sell. The goalie would likely have to be willing. Actually it’s pretty easy. The coach could do it all by himself
  6. I still believe they never should have traded Carter and more recently Schenn who I wish the Sabres had. The Blues are done for this year. I know Adams would never do it even if he was available
  7. I’d say maybe tank the rest of this season if they could get a high shot in draft lottery but I’m not familiar with this years draft class? We lost Eichel after all of it and I have no idea what I’ll do with his brand New Jersey. But I’d consider tanking after that Devils game. I don’t think they are near the bottom though. I think the Hawks are the worst team
  8. 7-4 as Sabres survive more bad goaltending with some good late. Light up the listless Caps in a game we sure needed. The schedule is not easy looking ahead. But we are in it for a change
  9. Favorite team none? No way are you getting away with that. .Its the Flyers. Hell, how does it feel to be bad like we have been for a long time. We are finally doing something. The Flyers will bounce back at some point. But where the hell are the loyal fans? The fair weather fans is what they wound up being. I have suffered through thick and thin with the Bills and Sabres. Some guys were posting in the football thread daily until that crap Super Bowl game. Now that is something to complain about. Zebras deciding the outcome. The Flyers are not good right now and I expect them to make trades. But the complete absense of a fan base on their own damn website is shameful.
  10. Grand Master?  LOL.  OK

  11. I totally agree but who in their right mind would want Comrie? Anderson? Maybe. I would ship Comrie first if I had the choice. Dahlin is missed more but like you said and I have heard the same, he is short term. I saw the hit he took. A dirty hit if there ever was one. . His head went off the damn cross bar. The guy got two freakin minutes. He should be suspended. Florida and Washington do not worry me one bit. I believe we are better than all of the teams we are battling. The Islanders do have better D and goaltending than us. But we can skate circles around them as far as scoring. Only Edmonton has more goals than the Sabres and they have played two more games. We have 5 games in hand on the Isles. We get Columbus tomorrow night but it wont be the easy walk in the park it would have been a month ago. They have played far better of late as has Montreal and Anaheim. Maybe its a case of teams taking them too lightly and them playing desperate? Columbus has been scoring goals. Ask JR and Edmonton. We just need to keep winning. At Boston Thursday looms a tall order. Especially since we beat them in there last time. Only thing going against them is they will just be returning from a West coast swing. That can really throw you off. Of course I think its tougher going back West after playing in the East because all of a sudden your playing games at 11 oclock EST and it must be exhausting after you were playing in the Eastern time zone.
  12. Loosing these guys in a playoff push is a nightmare. I feel like Dahlin may be the bigger of the two but maybe not because Power will get plenty of time. Quinn might be with Thompson and Skinner.
  13. An afternoon game I would like to see the Sabres start winning at home like they are on the road. They are one of the best road teams in the NHL. But at home, not so good lately. Earlier in the year they were great i the third period and that has pretty much been the case, but the bad starts have killed them at home. Yet here they sit, in a playoff position and that is a rare thing this late in the season. They have a real shot as they have many games in hand on some of their competition like the Islanders and Florida. I am not worried too much about Pittsburgh. Washington is the bo beigger concern. They ended a 6 game skid by beating the all of a sudden skidding Rangers, 6-3 in Ovy's return from Russia as his father passed away. The Sabres need to come out guns a blazing and forget where they are playing. Maybe the Rangers are catchable? Who knows. The 7 or 8 seed would be rewarded with a first round matchup with Boston or Carolina or Toronto. I hope its Carolina , because I hate them. And I do not see Boston going out in first round or maybe at all. Boston is the team to beat. So here is to the Sabres beating Wash today. This goalie merry go round is not likely to end. Luukenen needs to play well and right now. If not, he may be gone with the rest at end of season. I wish Adams would do something right now. Trade deadline. I would love to get my hands on Brayden Schenn. That guy is tremendous. But a goalie would be nice too. Is there any team that is out of the playoffs, that has a quality goalie they might consider moving? I have some trade bait to dangle but Adams is the guy with the power.
  14. Great! My memory failed me as I remember the Providence Reds, Springfield Kings, Cleveland Barons, Binghamton Whalers, etc. Dick Gamble played for Rochester and later for short time Rene Robert. The late Red Armstrong, who tragically died in a construction accident later in life. Very popular in Rochester, he was an enforcer.
  15. I feel pretty good about us taking down the Islanders with all these extra games. Even if the Red Wings hang around, and we own them head to head. Last night was a surprisingly great performance by Anderson and the Sabres did have a goal taken down by that sneaky little punk ass Maurice. Another one of those delayed offsides where the opposing coach just waits in the weeds to use it as ammo if your team scores and the Sabres scored a goal that looked very good. I hate the rule. If the refs cant call it right on the offsides and play continues, there should be a time limit on when they can challenge it. And I say the same had it gone the other way. Its BS. Remember when the RED LINE mattered? There was one painted . But it no longer matters. The old two line pass is gone. At Tampa the other night on the Sabres third goal, Skinner hit Thompson on a beauty of a pass sending him in on a breakaway and he scored. In the old days they would have calld it offsides. So that rule really has kept the play going. Far less whistles and more offense. Imagine Gretsky and Perrault if they played under those rules.
  16. Im unsure of the last year the Quebec Aces played? I suspect 1968? The first live hockey game I ever attended was a regular season finale between the Rochester Americans (my home city and team) and the then defending Calder Cup champs who had Don Cherry on their team), and the Quebec Aces. The final score? Quebec 8 Rochester 7. Tell me that would not excite a young hockey fan? Even though we lost the game, it was a shootout in my first ever live game. I was forever hooked. I do believe that may have been the last game that the Aces ever played?
  17. Jarry chased , 2 for McDavid as Edmonton puts a whipping on reeling Pens!!!
  18. After a bogus call on the Sabres after another , Tage Thompson and his hat trick performance and a huge short handed OT goal by Lebushkun. put down Tampa and now on to Miami to play the Panthers. A team far less quality on defense than Tampa but they arguably have a bit more offensive firepower. But so do the Sabres. Maybe another shootout. Hats off TFG for calling the 6-5 score last night. The goals against were in Comrie who thankfully I won’t have to see again any time soon. I’d gladly buy him a cargo seat on Greyhound one way to Rochester! What a game by Tage Thompson and what a pass by Skinner on the 3rd Buffalo goal! We have caught the Capitals and have Pittsburgh and Islanders on the ropes. We have 5 games in hand on Islanders.
  19. I do not like the passive approach by Granato. Lindy Ruff would have been screaming at the dumb ass’s. Thompson, Skinner and Olifsson all minus 2 yesterday . No goals against while Quinn or Paterka were on ice. Jokuharu minus 1 but I am going to recheck that. Dahlin -2 but I’ll forgive him. Power minus 1 and I’ll forgive him too. Skinner needs his ass chewed. As does Jokuharu who I would send to Rochester if it were up to me. They are better off in California
  20. Say it ain’t so! Hockey Guy, who I am now fed up with, has reported this. But he says Sammy Blais goes to Blues? Blais was a Blue on their Cup team? I have to research this Yes it’s true. Stupid ass Blues just made Rangers major contenders
  21. Ullmark is a present day Marty Biron or the other guy who was Millers backup I can’t bring to mind at this moment. Lehner I will never miss. Sucks on breakaways. You don’t mention Luukenen. I am not giving up on him. He was on fire and then that numbskull Adams sent him down for who knows why? Still believe Sabres played that Flyers game under protest of that crap. The shots on goal showed they went for a Sunday skate at the pond vs a not so scary defense
  22. I agree with JR. MAIN ISSUE IS GOALTENDING. I give Luukenen a shot of course rest of season, throwing the other two in on back to backs. But if things do not improve, I dump all 3 and go fishing. One thing we have always had in our history is good goaltending with the exception of the 1975 Finals when we were only 5 years into the league. But since then, Sauve, Edwards, Hasek , Miller. Now is it Luukenen He has shown signs of being the guy. But then he has also showed he needs more seasoning. I am not sure how long we wait. With decent goaltending we can take out the Penguins and Capitals right now with this young team. But time will tell. They have a ton of games in hand but must win them. It starts with improving at home. I am all in on the Cozens thing. We have to keep him obviously. Dahlin, Power, Tage Thompson, Olofsson, are for sure keepers. I also add Samuelson to that list and they agree as he was exteneded. I am not in agreement with Jokuharu I just a not high on him. If he gets a return, I trade him. Quinn and Paterka are keepers too.
  23. The Wild seem to have dropped off from their previous good play of earlier? Last night a beatdown in Dallas and tonight the Golden Knights and Eichel come in playing well. I have to take Vegas. I hope the Wild fix their problems. I think they are close to being able to take the West. But they likely need a trade.
