Charging Penalties on Rinaldo

but to hear the tv guys shame Rinaldo, and then praise Kronwall for something similar was rather annoying.

That VS crew sucks. I can barely listen to them. I mute the tv a lot. Both hits were clean, but if you're going to penalize one you have to do both. Ericsson? Wake up. Don't play the puck and then stand still, you're in a freaking hockey game!

This sport is losing me anymore. The double standard, the inconsistent refereeing combined with the overall puss-ification of the sport while the most dry boring analysts worship teams like Boston, Detroit, New York, Pittsburgh, and Chicago and chastise the Flyers because once upon a time the Flyers were the Broad Street Bullies.

Its getting tougher to continue to support this NHL the way it is today. The shootouts alone make it difficult.

He left his feet on impact, not before. He's managed to figure out how to throw the hardest body checks around and still be within the rules.

the rules dont' make any particular distinction on that. kronwall's hits could, to a one, be called charging. honestly, i'm glad they aren't, dude is a force of nature out there and i love it, but there is no doubt in my mind he has somehow carved himself immunity for reasons other than the nature of his hits. in this hyper-suspension-happy era, the fact he has yet to sit for a single game is beyond weird.

lady byng nominees are getting suspended for having thier stick deflected into other guy's faces, and this didn't even warrant a review:

(feet off the ice before contact, btw)

A HUGE difference in the calls is that Kronwall went directly at Briere, while Rinaldo aimed for a spot to intercept Ericson. I thought it was bull s hit and inconsistent at the time, but in the heat of the play s hit happens. But for the league to review it and **** it up further is just WRONG.

I posted elsewhere that Kronwall is the best clean hitter in hockey, when you are carrying the puck with him and Stuart on the ice keep your head up or you are gonna be drilled. Good clean viscous hockey, well within Shannys new rules.

Rinaldo is a good, 1 goal- 150 penalty minutes this year, last year at adirondack he had three goals and 330 PIMs. Yeah, I know fun energy guy but this is a team that is terrible at killing penalties and he is wasting a roster spot for a real nhler. He pinballs around until he hits something and then gets mad when he gets a penalty. A bad team trying to enthuse up the fans can afford someone like him but a team hoping to contend for the cup needs to do better.
