yave1964
Two trades. One day. Undersized power play specialist Calen Addison was dealt to the Sharks by the Wild for a 5th rounder and non prospect Adam Faska. Shortly after the Wild added Zach Bogosian from the bolts s for a 7th rounder Addison can QB a power play very well but is an awful defender and in spite of offensive ability from the back end because of deficiencies could not stay in the lineup. The Sharks desperately needed a puck mover on the back end, they have literally been playing five forwards on the power play. Bogo has mostly been a healthy scratch, he is solid as a 7th blueliner, stay at home, plodding, no offense but can defend in his zone. The exact opposite of Addison in fact. So young maddeningly soft offensive blueliner dealt away to save the coaches sanity, a meh D plus prospect, a slight pick upgrade and a decent stay at home defender the return. Sharks get offense, Wild get decent return and Bolts help an old friend get a chance to keep playing. Good deal for all.
Icechipper
Wild give up on high-end 23-year-old for a steady 33-year-old rental. Do the Wild see something in Adam Raska's game that Sharks missed? Otherwise, Wild just got older. He hits a lot and fights a lot and is an okay 4th linee in the AHL but too small to play that role in the bigs with nowhere near the skill to move up to the third line. AHL fodder, probably good for half a dozen games a year in the bigs id injuries and desperation occur. Busts his tail, plays hard, just not a player.
TropicalFruitGirl26
Bolts keep peeling away from their winning combination....I get it...cap crunch and also trying to get a bit younger and/or faster. Still though, a LOT of jam, grit, experience, no nonsense attitude, and playoff performance has been lost and not easily replaced on the team. Probably why the Lightning are amongst the leaders in scoring as a team (no surprise given who still is responsible for such things), but ALSO, is one of the worst, at least for now, at PREVENTING goals as a team. For Minnesota, they DID get older and slower by trading out Addison and moving in Bogo, but, since they weren't really high on Addison anymore, and his defensive deficiencies are too much for them to want to deal with right now, they opted for the reliable Bogo who will add some more nastiness at the blueline to go along with Jake Middleton's. Raska, barring some unforeseen major turnaround, is a non factor here for the Wild (except as an AHL hand as mentioned), as is the 7th rounder that went to the Lightning. San Jose? If they can somehow, some way get Addison to play even a bit of solid defense, and pair him with a responsible defensive minded partner, they could have something there. Sharks have so many holes on the team though, it certainly is going to take much more than Addison to get them going. Maybe if they can get Addison to playing really well offensively, and with some defense, his best value to the team would be as a trade piece elsewhere for a pair of solid prospects or picks.

His defense has been better this year, but I doubt it could have gotten worse. His pp game was nothing more than a safety valve for the forwards to pass back to for a reset when they got in trouble. That’s why he has so little goals and assists from the pp. Hopefully a change in scenery will work for him.
