JackStraw
Anyone interested in watching some prospects can see them here:http://stats.hockeycanada.ca/schedule/league_instance/20720?subseason=165586The games are being streamed. Travis Sanheim is playing for Canada against Russia right now. Connor MacDavid is also playing, and is pretty awesome.
Podein25
Thanks @JackStrawThis Russian goalie Sorokin is an interesting specimen....No Goldobin on the Russian squad?I have to pay more attention to these summer prospect tournaments... What's the age cut off for them? Seems to range wildly...
JackStraw
@Podein25 - I didn't hear what the age range was but it does seem to be all over the place. I don't think they dress the same players for every game, I'm pretty sure Morin has played for Canada but he wasn't dressed tonight. He's 19 so U20 players must be there. I think they mentioned that one of the Russian players was 16.
flyercanuck
Canada has 2 teams one played the Czechs, the other played Russia. It's an under 20 tournament...if you're good enough at 16 you're in. Pretty rare though.
Podein25
@flyercanuck Thanks for that clarification. I thought it was supposed to be <20 too but thought I saw guys on there that were >20 (e.g. Bigras). But I was wrong. Again.
JackStraw
Morin is playing tonight against Russia. Canada's lineup:
jammer2
@JackStraw WOW, what a *wicked* split squad!! That defense looks awesome. Love seeing Tristan Jerry in the mix, he is the true heir apparent in the Pens nets. Only kid I don't recognize is Nick Paul.
JackStraw
@jammer2 - Canada has some real talent on D. I think Morin might have a tough time making the U20 team. Same goes for Sanheim.
jammer2
@JackStraw Sanheim can skate circles around Morin, so even though Morin has a lot more experience, I give Sanheim the edge. One thing for sure, you don't make a team like this based on rep....you have to actually be one of the top 6 d-men in the country. Don't count out McKeown, his smarts and wheels will be hard to pass up!
JackStraw
@jammer2 - I haven't noticed McKeown but I would think Ekblad, Nurse, and Morrisey are pretty much automatic. Theodore and Fleury have also looked good in the games I've watched. That doesn't leave much in the way of open spots.
jammer2
@JackStraw I'm not 100% sold on Theodore making it, but he does have an excellent chance. I consider Fleury a lock.
Podein25
@JackStraw@jammer2 I like Theodore's chances quite a bit. The kid oozes poise IMO. He's almost too poised, looks almost casual at times. Remarkable really.

JackStraw
You don't think Ekblad will be a Panther? I wasn't taking that into account. Yeah, I guess there could be that one more open spot.
