  1. @radoran I wonder why Charlie keeps saying what he is then? He wrote an article about the situation on his discord and recorded a second pod saying the exact thing again. odd.
  2. @OccamsRazor It's not outrageous to think Stolarz will be better for the same money. He could. Who knows what the Flyers player will do. He could totally **** the bed or he could become Russian Tim Thomas, or something in the middle. With 2 first round draft picks in 2025 the 2024/25 season seems like a logical time to try the great unknown out. If it goes poorly the team gets a higher draft pick with their native pick. The contract is for two years, if Fedotov stinks It's over before cap space is an issue. I don't think this signing signals buffoonery on the part of the GM.
  3. I posted the podcast in this thread. Charlie O'Connor has reported this repeatedly.
  4. Fedotov was going to make the equivalent of 3 million a year playing in Russia. He wasn't going to leave for less than that. It's pretty simple actually. He wasn't promised anything. He wasn't coming over for less than 3m a year.
  5. @flyercanuck If a person looks for the worst in everything, they'll find it. I follow this team for fun. I'd like to see them win and be relevant again also, but I'm also going to enjoy the small "victories" along the way. I'm not delusional, but life is hard enough and if I hate a team I follow for fun?...that's some sick-o ****. and I'm not down for that.
  6. That wasn't directed solely at you. It was more for the group at large. It's so easy to dehumanize these players i do it too. The young man has been through a lot. He is not young, now is the time for him to make the jump and make some hay. The scouts, Jonesy and Danny are giving him his chance. I like that the team stood by him. The momentum he had after the strong Olympics and his lights out playoff performance is lost. I'm sure that's what the scouts liked and partially why he's getting this chance.
  7. @radoran Calvinball was awesome. Don't expect me to sing the I'm Sorry Song even if the score is 4 to Z
  8. Their contracts are done at the end of next season, yes? I think they buy out Atkinson but just let Johnasen whither away not playing for Lehigh Valley or on LTIR. I don't think Johansen can be bought out while he is "injured". Maybe he's the guy they play hardball with and force him to get a physical for that purpose.
  9. I think there is more at stake than just Fedotov. I think Michkov is watching how the Flyers act, if they screw Fedotov over by low balling him, why would he want to come to the team? If they treat him fairly or in this case well... that serves to make the jump the NHL that much more enticing. I don't think this signing was made in a vacuum. I think the Flyers will need to continue recruiting the kid. I would not be surprised if this contract is part of that.
  10. Here's where I got my information. Nothing says, they made an effort to overpay. That's just silly. everything else you wrote i can't really disagree with. I don't like it though. The terms of the deal being terrible or decent really depend on the player. We won't know until we know, the team is terrible now and it may be the best time to make this kind of evaluation.
  11. It's not as fun as rooting for a hockey player. Go salary cap! doesn't have a ring to it.
  12. they could have gotten a different "other goalie" for the next few seasons, no question. And maybe that would be a better way to go. I don't know. But, If they wanted to see what Fedotov could do, that was the price, it's what he was making in Russia, or the equivalent and he wasn't going to uproot his life for a pay cut. They wanted to see what they had so, here we are. The idea that every negotiation needs to be a win and hardball all the time is fine until humans become involved.
