  1. Hmm, don't know that one...anyway, sounds much more exciting than Pong! Anything would be LOL! (btw- sorry, i realized I hijacked this thread! )
  2. @flyercanuck @JR Ewing --AGREED/LIKE!-- Sorry guys, the 'agree' button wasn't working for me on this page & hf101 couldn't figure why....well, onwards & upwards to a software upgrade here next week! yahoo!
  3. @Commander Clueless Commander Keen? Haven't heard of that one...was it an Atari game by chance? I still like Street Fighter (chuckle...I think I got the 25th Anniversary edition for Nintendo) & one of my all time faves is Galaga! Used to go to 7-11 & plunk my quarters down & play for hours...haha! How times have changed: I downloaded it on my iPod & play now...lol Would anyone believe out there (ahem, dating myself a bit) that as kids we had I think one of the very first 'video games'...PONG!! Woo hoo! 2 stick paddles & a bouncy square ball....all in vivid black & white & 2-D !!! Man, were we ever excited to get that! The 'new' technology....LOL!! I guess when you compared it to playing board games back then, it was really innovative & state of the art! )
  4. Exactly on the single parents or low income families. It's such a pity it has become such an expensive sport now. I'm glad too they're taking the hitting out, so dangerous for these kids & unnecessary...I did hear something about this happening.
  5. @JR Ewing Wow, JR...that is just truly extraordinary...you picked 1 of the best ones there I must say....(so 'inbreeding' is alive & well, hey?)
  6. A report/survey was done by Hockey Canada & Bauer that showed 90% of the families studied opted out of enrolling their kids in organized hockey...90%!! Reasons stated were: safety issues, affordability & the simple reason that with the trend towards pro coaches & parental pressures toward elite status, the kids were just not having 'fun' anymore. I can see concerns esp. with all the talk of concussions these days, not to mention horrid accidents like Taylor Hall had last year (in practise!), but to keep them from playing because it's no longer considered a fun sport is pretty sad, to me. Many coaches are more concerned with gaining the status/trophies from their elite players & well, some parents flourish on the 'ego' of it all....'Hey did you know my kid is a contender for....?" Playing hockey just for the sake of playing hockey needs to return...achievements, awards & status aside. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/tennis-canada-targets-youth-hockey-ad-campaign-161703751.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  7. @JR Ewing Wow, that's not even a photo-shopped pic? Fairly scary.... How about an avatar of Schneid's jersey on the clearance rack? (Like the Oils haven't been laughing about that!)....hey, I was in the sports shop recently...it's going for bargoon prices...
  8. @yave1964 You're just a trooper Yave! Cudos! Me?...heh I couldn't even touch your knowledge of the game! But, oh yah, that reminds me, I do have a sorta interesting topic on my mind...stay tuned... Would love to see Pitts & Hawks duke it out though...
  9. Yah, I agree, & myself, I wouldn't touch Eberle either...just too much power-train & potential going on with these top guys. They should be a match-set. Yah, certain teams, like..um, oh I dunno...say....
  10. @yave1964 Yave, I think you have to start more topics..you just haven't been pulling your weight lately, my friend! LOL (Great work all around, btw!)...Do you think the past few seasons have declined outside division due to mainly Ovi declining/aging? An interesting thought... Yah, what a HUGE change of division rivalries, huh? Just NO comparison ('guppy teams'..haha).....It should be a fun division to watch though this season....oh yah, GO BLUE JACKETS!! (hey, someone's gotta represent!)
  11. @JR Ewing Thanx for the stats on Dubnyk...I've always liked watching him & thought he was a pretty good G for a make-shift team in front...
  12. @JR Ewing HAHAHA....btw WHAT is that avatar anyhow?? Many have wondered, but few/none have dared ask ...(reminds me of 'Deliverance'...LOL!)
  13. You're an upstanding guy, JR...you bring a lot of class to this forum/site..(not that it was classless, but just sayin'... )
  14. @Commander Clueless I've also been meaning to tell CC that his name/avatar captures pretty much how I feel on this forum...that shoulda been mine...LOL!!
  15. @jammer2 Wow, I'm quite surprised that Schneids surpassed Brodeur in the stats last season! But then I never saw the games Brodeur played, but still...I wasn't expecting his %'s to be that good!
  16. @jammer2 Well hey your posts are fine anyway! Would never have guessed! Have you tried re-booting your computer? (however I've never come across that prob on mine yet)
  17. @jammer2 And all along I thought you were just trying to be 'mysterious'....LOL!!
  18. WHO is setting these odds?? 12-1 on 'Nucks?? Are you kiddin' me right now? There's a better chance that Schneids will be back in our net this season than us winning the cup! I'd rank us around 100-200 odds...we just don't got it, guys.
  19. ROTFL...and...ROTFL... !! Right on @jammer2 buddy!!
  20. @Polaris922 Props to MAF & King Henrik! I'm still not crazy about the shoot-out as the tie-breaker as I don't think it's really fair, but then again, our goalies have never been exactly 'solid' in this capacity...LOL! Remember when Lu was called the 'whale' for always ending up flopping on his belly (as the puck sailed by)?
  21. Wow, I thought this thread was long dead....haha. This horse has 'done been beat', I'd say! So I guess I won't have to follow up this thread with this poll, then?: Hahaha....
  22. This is what everyone's up in arms about. Comparable salary of 77 mill earned in NHL over 12 yrs vs. over 4 yr period in KHL (& more $ in fact). On top of that, there was talk that he plans to return to the NHL in 3 yrs time....
  23. @Hockey Junkie I don't care, I root for the underdogs too. And I'll always have a 'soft spot' for the Sabres after I heard about Malarchuk's gruesome injury. (It hit me hard so I wrote a topic about that, as goalies are my thing).
  24. ...as goalnut sheepishly slides CBJ into the Favourite Team spot....out with the old, in with the Blue...
  25. Yes, or worse. I may switch to Columbus yet. No representation here. An underdog also but at least they have a fighting chance! (Just gotta get over that Horton trade though...an ex-Bostonite...yeesh!)
