If Anderson gets hit by a moped driver on the way to the Circle K and is out for the season, I may have to hate you.  😎

I have to do something in goal, though, just to make sure I get starts.  I'm burning through moves just to get Albertson's cashiers to pretend to be a goalie for a night just to make starts--no worries about winning anything or a sub-5.xx GAA.  I've just needed to force a start count.    I really like Tage.  I've burned through Tage and Ovechkin (who I do NOT like and never will) just to have average goalies to float with.   I hope the Yahoo coding monkey who picked Koch and fricken Fleury in the autodraft is sold to a mascara company in Bangladesh.

I probably shouldn't have made this trade. I love kochetkov and we all know it. I'm willing to gamble on him in the keeper league even if it means this season is a wash. But in a 1 year league this move was pretty bad for me lol

But I'm hoping I can float on Dallas and half of the Oilers net.

  2. I watched the entire game. Mostly to see how Lafreniere did on Panarin's wing(amazing)

The rangers played a solid system and nobody could figure out how to get through it on the Sabres. Laviolette so far has done some good things

I knew someone would catch that, really only three forwards, not necessarily on the same line. Jarvis still hasn't stepped up but let's say he has a 60 point year. Is it enough to move the needle? Terravainen was beat up last year and was miserable for long stretches when he could play, clearly in decline. I simply think the forward group is very pedestrian, middle of the pack as a whole.

I think Aho and Svechnikov are excellent, Necas is very good and Jarvis is up and coming. Teravainen healthy can also be very good.

Bunting adds some depth and Kotkaniemi is a decent middle 6 C. Staal can still work as a defensive faceoff winning C.

The defense and goaltending depth on that team is among league best.

Will any of the forwards win the art Ross anytime soon? No,but they win and keeping competitive. If Aho went down the team would suffer,  but they have the depth to go down anyone else and still be tough

Agree Yotes could surprise, if they get enough goaltending.

Montreal will be bad and in easily the deepest division, you may get your wish and they may crater

Dj smith. Hmmm, I am more bullish on Ottawa, but cracks already. Norris may be done already and watching korpisalo up close here in Ohio, let's just say he does not inspire confidence.

I do not believe in Carolina. At all. Love the coach, hate the gm, mostly though I don't think past the first line that there is any offense. Svech, Aho and Necas are brilliant but nobody else scares anyone. And really they had nobody in top 40 in scoring or goals for. Love the defense, all three goalies, top three forwards but IMHO I don't believe they make it out of first round without two key middle six adds. Just not enough there there if you know what I mean.

Heiskanen. Agreed, Norris has become an offensive award but every now and then the voters get one right. I think Dallas is phenomenal right now, he is the games best defensive dman and I hope the writers for once stop being lazy and get one right.

That's not really their first line. They tend to spread the offense around 3 lines. But Seth jarvis is only 21 and had a 40 and 39 point season. He might yet grow into that 13th overall pedigree. A healthy Teravainen isn't a usual thing, but when he is healthy he can put up 65-70 points.

STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS -- I'm going with the Hurricanes. They will finally make it after years being in the discussion.

DIVISION WINNERS -- Toronto, Edmonton, Rangers, Colorado.

FIRST COACH FIRED -- I'm going with DJ Smith if Ottawa doesn't show the high hopes in this team. Otherwise, Rick Bowness for the reasons mentioned by @yave1964

NORRIS WINNER -- Makar. This thophy is offense-first minded and Heiskanen will never be spectacular at the point of grabbing this award.

HART WINNER -- McDavid, no brainer

IF NOT MCDAVID, WHO WINS THE HART? Matthews, who will propel the Leafs to the western Conference final

VEZINA WINNER -- Sorokin will create the surprise

CALDER TROPHY -- Bedard, no brainer

IF NOT BEDARD? I put a coin on Levi, or Cooley whose Coyotes will qualify for the playoffs

SELKE TROPHY -- If the Devils maintain their progression, Hischier is a legit choice.

LADY BING TROPHY -- Yeah, no one gives a sh** about it.

    OVECHKIN TOTAL GOALS -- 33

DOES THE OVER THE HILL GANG IN THE IGLOO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS? -- Yup, they missed them by one point, this year they will make it by one point with the help of a rejuvinated Jarry.

DO EITHER OF LAST YEARS CUP FINALISTS MAKE THE FINAL FOUR? -- Nope. I have Stars vs. Vegas and Toronto vs. Carolina

WORST RECORD IN THE GAME THIS YEAR -- I deeply want Montréal but it will be between San Jose and Chicago.

Depends. Guys who can play solid defense And put up big numbers tend to get in on Norris action.

Heiskanen is very good, but i found him not as good as Klingberg offensively while being much better all around. Honestly, i'd be excited to see them try Nils Lundqvist on that PP. That kid has some high octane offensive chops

Well...decided to go back to my old ways of stressing goaltending and try to fill in the rest with peripherals....also, trying my hand a bit at seeing if I picked out some break out candidates.
I think raw scoring wise, I am average, but if things fall right, I should do well in other departments...especially if some of the still very young men I drafted take their next steps with their respective teams!

Here are my guys at a glance with their numbers from  the previous year.

I like your team. Tkachuk is such a unicorn with these categories

Hence the reason part of me did niot want to draft Andesen in NAHANA.  Even more perplexing is RoP slotting him as a Keeper.  I know we all know this kids potential but with the Canes resigning BOTH Andersen and Raanta, the writing on the wall to me is Kochetkov will be in the AHL to start the season.  Why waste a Keeper spot on him?

The NAHANA draft could have been very different had he kept Grubauer as a Keeper and let Kochetkov go.   I might have drafted Andersen (assuming Lady still goes Swayman) and then MD would have really been up the creek without a paddle.

So intersting on how this all played out ........

I dunno. Antti raanta and andersen seem to be made of glass. I think koochie stays at nhl level, but a 3 way platoon isn't ideal.

I love koochie and think he is the goalie of the future

I haven't figured out yet if Kochetkov is staying up. I've been completely off the reservation. I was actually looking to send you something and paused.

Nobody has figured it out yet lol

Andersen + Raanta being resigned was perplexing. One I can see, but why resign both when they just gave kochetkov a 4 year contract and he is no longer waiver exempt

So, tonight is the first I've been on a computer since we drafted.

On the phone, when I moved people to IR+ and tried to pick up an FA, it told me I needed to drop someone.

Not the case on the computer (still cannot on the phone).     The same is happening to me in NAHANA.

Phil cannot in NAHANA--it keeps requiring a drop for an IR+ replacement

    Kochetkov + for Husso?

  10. I'm OK with my draft.

Got 1 slam dunk starter in Ott, a decent chance at a better year starter in Husso and half of Edmonton in Campbell. I expect him to bounce back because he can't be worse than last year lol.

Having 3 goalies never hurts in this league.

Crosby at C is guaranteed faceoffs and solid point production. I expect Hayton to take another step this season as #1 C. Hertl will be leaned on with a bad sharks team, and Wyatt Johnston I expect to also step up to 2nd line C, eventually replacing Hintz as #1 C. Hintz is made of glass so maybe sooner than later.

On wing Meier and EKane represent a lot of shots and hits and good goalscoring. Lawson crouse stepped up last year and so did Blais after being traded, both hit a ton.

Not sure why Patrick Kane isn't  IR worthy. I assumed he was but he is listed NA instead. Might turn into a dead pick

On D, Karlsson on the pens should do ok. Sanderson I think takes the #1 D spot in Ottawa, and Larsson and cernak are pure peripheral guys. Drysdale missed a year but looked brilliant his first year, so why not

PREVIOUS SEASON 42-32-8 92 points 8th n conference made playoffs on seasons last day. Plus 17 goal differential. Upset the mighty Bruins in 7, defeated the Leafs, beat Carolina to get to Stanley Cup final, lost in finals to Vegas.

ADDITIONS Oliver Ekman Larsson came aboard after being paid millions and millions to go away by Vancouver. Evan Rodrigues comes aboard to help the middle six. Veteran Stolarz comes on to provide stability to a goalie room which is often a mess. Lorentz comes on as a 4th liner. Nikko Mikkola and Mike Reilly are veterans to stabilize the back end.

SUBTRACTIONS Eric Staal likely to retire. Hornqvist already did. Duclair traded for cap space. Gudas tok the money from anaheim and ran. Marc Staal left for the Flyers. Alex Lyon had the best month of his life and turned it into a deal with Detroit.

TOP PROSPECTS It is make or break for Denisenko and Heponiemi two prospects that much has been expected and little if any has been delivered.  Mackie Samoskevich is a real prospect but likely a year away with this being his first season in the AHL but he is one to watch. Not a ton here, very little help in the immediate future.

SO ARE THEY REAL CUP CONTENDERS? My feeling is they are better than they appeared for much of the regular season, not as good or as deep as they were in the playoffs. Tkachuk was a one man wrecking crew, leading the team in goals, assists and penalty minutes with an insane 74 in the postseason.

My heart and my head are in the same place, a better regular season, approaching 100 points is probable and even likely, followed by a disappointing first round bow out. Keep an eye on Brandon Montour who had a monster breakout season and is an UFA at years end. This team is aggressive when it comes to moving potential free agents, signing him to an eight year deal might be difficult especially after Sandersons obscene deal  in Ottawa. If they cannt sign him they may move him during the season for a veteran top six scoring forward.

I believe that last seasons run was a bit fluky but they are built well and should be a regular playoff team provided Bob does not completely flake out.

Montour had the fortune and misfortune of playing for Paul Maurice. Fortunate because he flip flopped off Ekblad on the PP to give Montour the opportunity,  unfortunate because of Maurice's track record for flip flopping between 3 dmen for PP time.

It wouldn't even surprise me to see him say "let's Try OEL on the pp"

Remember when we had two lockouts to stop owners from signing stupid contracts?

Sanderson better turn into a consistent 50-60 point producer.

    Oh, wait, Ottawa. Right.

    🤪

I honestly think its possible. 50 point player, rock solid defense.

But he isn't there yet, and paying him this much this early....

I see quite a bit of similarity to the path the Flyers are taking.  The only difference I can see is after so many decades (not even years, but decades), essentially going back to the Flyers' winning the Cup in the mid-1970's, they are finally committed to a full rebuild. At least Jones, Hilferty, and Dannyboy saying all the right things.  I am not sure the Sharks are fully committed to rebuilding, but I don't follow them closely enough to know....

We sure aren't trying to win lol.

We just traded our top 2 players for picks and prospects and the goal is to finish dead last.
