  1. I KNEW Victoria, BC sounded familiar!  It's our last stop on our current vacation, JR....Minneapolis, to Seattle, to Juneau, to Skagway to Tracy Arms Fjords, to Victoria, and as I type this, getting ready to depart Victoria to Seattle again, to catch a plane to Minny.

Was all over downtown Victoria today.

Visited your Bay Center, toured the wharf, and made friends with a few locals....and some weren't even trying to sell us anything.... :bigteeth:.

Even walked around some of the residential areas (who knows...maybe I was outside your house...) just to see the typical areas where locals live.

Anyways, thought I'd give you a shout.....should have sent you one sooner...you could have met me at the pier ;).... Explorer of the Seas is the name of our ship....Royal Caribbean is the outfit.

Hope things are well with you and your family.

I hope you guys enjoyed your visit here. The weather was lovely, and (if I do say so myself) it's a really beautiful city. The hockey scene isn't much, but you can't have it all.

      We liked our visit there.

      Our entire trip went well.

Traveling with young children IS difficult (especially my special needs one), but overall, we enjoyed Alaska and north western Canada very much.

Cab drivers in Victoria were giddy because we were tipping in 10 US dollar increments...which I was told by a local is very generous due to the exchange rate...oh well, the drivers were friendly, informative and got us to where we wanted to go, so it was all good.

Some really breathtaking views and 'wow' moments for me during this trip.

Being a native of Florida in the US, seeing that many mountains right in your face was quite the new experience for me.

Oh, and while stopped in Skagway, Alaska (during a salmon bake of course), we had a live, unscheduled appearance by a local brown bear who decided the salmon was too tempting, ran into our camp area, snatched some, and took off.....a local said it was an adolescent bear and was just interested in the fish, and if we let it alone, it would just take its prize and go away.

I've had black cats cross my path and an assortment of other creatures suddenly surprise me, but NEVER a real live bear....I literally dropped my lemonade, grabbed my youngest and hid behind a tree...lol.

Frazier, Canada (yes, in the middle of nowhere) was another rural stop for us (all via the White Pass railroad), and customs really didn't seem to care we were there....wasn't until Victoria where they wanted to make sure we weren't in the "import / export" business...hehe.

Anyways, sorry for the long winded response (like you don't already expect that from me :bigteeth: ), but wanted to let you know we enjoyed everything about both AK and NW Can and Victoria was a very nice final spot before going back to Seattle then home.

My body is still on AK and Pacific time zones though...... :dizzysmiley-1:
