  1. Canucks escape....and THAT is the proper word here...ESCAPE! They better get their chit together when they host the Oilers...
  2. Vancouver just NOT making this easy on themselves! Awful penalty taken by Lindholm... Preds will have a 6 on 4 (with the EN) for the remaining 33 seconds
  3. Wow. Canucks score late...very late....and could eek out the win here! 1-0 'Nucks with just 1:39 left.
  4. One of the TNT analysts said it best I think... "Both teams playing like they are afraid to lose" While terrible, I think this may favor the Predators as the Canucks are being looked at as the team that "should" win. Things stay mucked up as they are, I can see the Preds forcing their way to a Game 7. Neither will be able to stand up to the Oilers if this is the way they are going to handle business
  5. Some playoff stats at the start of this set: CAROLINA HURRICANES GF/G: 3.8, GA/G: 2.4 PP%: 33.3, PK%: 72.7 Won their 1st round against the NY Islanders 4-1 NEW YORK RANGERS GF/G: 3.75, GA/G: 1.75 PP%: 37.5, PK%: 88.2 Won their first round against the Washington Capitals 4-1 Two teams that may have a legit claim on the Cup this year, but only one can move forward. Both did very well against their overmatched first round opponents, although the Islanders gave the Canes more trouble than the Capitals did the Rangers. Both did good damage with their power plays, while the Rangers remained solid on the PK, the Canes faltered just a bit there. On paper (and if you buy in the monumental hype behind them) the Rangers look to have just about every advantage here. But people have written off the Canes before, to their detriment. Disappointment has reared its head for both clubs, with the Rangers' seemingly 'bigger' due the bigger spotlight they play in. Nonetheless, the Hurricanes have been building towards a championship for a while now and whether anyone outside the team wants to acknowledge it or not, it IS playoffs or bust for them as well. Hurricanes, Rangers....they meet in the 2nd round.....Series talk goes right here!
  6. Canucks look like their sputtering out there in Game 6. I know not having Thatcher Demko sucks for them, but their issues on the ice don't seem to have so much to do with goaltending as it is overall team temperature. The Canucks squad just looks all kinds of....lost, for lack of a better term out there. Taking ill advised penalties, not pressuring when they should, falling back a bit too quickly, then when they do decide to attack, leave holes that Nashville can exploit. Granted, I don't believe the Predators are world beaters....just a team that is "good", and having had a good run this season and into the playoffs. But even if the Canucks finally finish off this series, unless they changed their mindsets and on ice performance, the Oilers are gonna murder them...
  7. Sounds to me like it's time for some Marchand shenanigans in Game 7, no? "Mr. Owl...how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Maple Leaf?"
  8. Boy...this team really DOES like to stick it to their fans, eh? They make this big come back...and it all sets up for a Game 7, where the Bruins likely obliterate them after legions of Leafs fans took PTO days from work to travel to Sunrise, Florida!
  9. Matthews who? It's the Willie Nillie Nylander show! Willies 2, Bruins 0 Looks like the Leafs will see a Game 7!
  10. I thought the Jets' heavy game would do better than they did as well. Heck, I even had them winning in 7, though the fact that Colorado was the favorite was not lost on me. But losing in 5? Probably shouldn't have been that way, but it is what it is. As for the comparison as to the problems the Jets caused for the Wild that they couldn't duplicate against the Avalanche... That should NOT surprise you at all as the Wild don't pack nearly the equal amount of gear as a team like the Avalanche, so Winnipeg's results will definitely not be the same!
  11. Hey, hey, now... I was forced to give up my Leaves patent a year ago when Toronto beat Tampa Bay. I need a new thing to poketh funneth at the Leafless.... Will is my guy now.
  12. Oh my.... Bruins with all kinds of chances....even had Wull down and out, gaping net....could NOT get it to go!
  13. Because you are relatively new here, you probably don't quite get it yet, but, see that black ninja face at the end of my post? That is our universal sign of being facetious. Means I DIDN'T quote Jack Edwards, but I "kinda did"....ya get the drift? You'll see that black ninja symbol used ALOT on this site when someone is posting in a non serious and/or sarcastic way.
  14. Edwards: " No call on that? Just how much money is being paid to the official to NOT call that? COWARDS!"
  15. Leafs finally break on through. The irony? Both the Game 5 win and this one so far, well played by the Leafs WITHOUT Auston Matthews...
  16. LOL...there's something you don't hear everyday... "...and now Boston, quick transition led by MAROON..."
  17. And now the Boston pressure looks like it paid off. They draw a Leaf penalty, and that can only mean that Woe should see more shots during this PK than he had seen previously. We will see if Woo is sharp...he was the one called for the penalty too.
  18. I called for the Bruins to start peppering Wolf....and they sure have! However, the Toronto netminder is up to the task. Not bad for a guy who had been mostly asleep in net waiting for a shot on goal. Bruins are just gonna have to keep at it, and hopefully catch Wove dozing off...
  19. McAvoy just crunched David Kampf in the corner. Looks like he got him in the head too, although, Kampf's head got real low just a second before the hit. McAvoy's hit should have gone shoulder to shoulder (he kept his arms tucked in), but Kampf's quick head movement downward caused that thot to blast him in the noggin....and he skated off under duress. No call on the play....and probably should NOT have been one, but will the DOPS see it otherwise? Hmmm..
  20. Wow...I JUST NOW realized that the Bruins only have one freakin shot on goal.....with 13 minutes left in the 2nd. I know credit should be given to the Leafs for playing a good, tough game, but seriously...even by ACCIDENT, the Bruins should have more than one lousy shot! Just WTF are the B's doing anyways!? They better start peppering Wolf, Wove, Woll, or whatever his name is. Guy comes in cold in the series and looks like the answer all along....I don't think so! Tells me the Bruins maybe 'let up a bit' as the Leafs bear down as they should. Even if the Bruins finally win this series, if they play that way against the Panthers, Florida will literally shred them in short order!
  21. Wasn't able to watch the first period start to finish, but based on the recap, some heavy, heavy hitting going on....not sure who that would favor. Traditionally, one would say the Bruins, but a Leafs team playing without Matthews has perhaps adopted a more grind'em style in order to stay alive and force a Game 7
  22. Well...as always, ref calls or non calls will always play a part in the playoff proceedings....sometimes egregiously so, other times not so much. And while I didn't follow this series super closely, I do believe the correct team won in the end. Whether on the ice or on paper, the Oilers simply had more advantages throughout and it has been that way between EDM and LA for quite a while now, evidenced by the fact that the Oilers always seem to KO the Kings when they meet in the post season. Sorta like the Boston Kryptonite to the Toronto Super Duds...
