The focus is on the old defense. Gagne situation. Vincent L. Who makes the 4th line who doesnt. No body talks about our goalis. Is the situation so bad that we flyers fans is used with having bad golies so we doesnt even talk about it anymore? Mason? what a joke. Came here and played good some games. Are you for real? is this the guy to have in the net as the nr1? Well, if that doesnt work we have the super Emery? even worse of a joke. Just cant freakin believe Homer is walking in Clarkes footprints and ignoring the goaltending. I just cant understand why in the hell we went for Vinnie instead of a promising young good goaltender. The last years desperate moves for veteran past date superstars like Jagr and Lecavalier is unbelivble dumb. What I think flyers need is a manager who is die hard hockey entusiast who is philosofic about the game of hockey, Who knows hockey, who eat, sleep and eats hockey. Flyers is just business these days... we have become the Rangers... there is no idea anymore no great plan no real teambuilding.

Interesting discussion. Well I agree about the blue collar times. Its the same in sweden. When ordinary people lika working class and low middle class people could afford to go to hockey there was great atmosphere in the arenas.

Anyway. The issue about giving the most talented player the C doesnt need to be a good thing. I really think Girouxe is too young. I want him to focus on ONE thing. Adding points. Goals and assists. Maybe he can do it even when having the C but I prefer when a older player, a natural born leader, wears the C. Like Timonen or Gagne on the current roster. But I have faith in G. No moaning here.

I dont live in USA, nor watching the games live. But when I hear swedish players talk about NHL almost everyone says flyers fans are noisy at arena and dedicated and know the game. I was checking this forum and the other teams threads... Very many hade like 30-40 threads, and then there was Detroit with 136 and then there was flyers with stunning 2,600 threads! OMG.

Take a look at his stats. He is not really worth more. Yes, we see talent, we see future, we all have expectations but I think he is not worth more at this day, I think he knows that too. He needs to prove things next season but most of all he needs to improve things first.

If only Bob Clarke wouldnt been such a jackass- He should have upgraded the defense instead of start a long silly fight with Lindros and his family. It still pisses me off thinking about that we had one of the best lines ever in the legion of doom. There is only ONE thing that kept us from the cup - BAD GM! adding a couple of better defensmen I think we would have take the cup following year,

If only Clarke could have been smarter handling Eric Lindros. If only... Lindros was called a baby, but Clarke was an even worse baby. As a GM he shouldnt have started that silly personal fight with Lindros. As a GMhe should have seen how important the legion of doom was and shut the mouth and upgrade the defense instead.

@jammer2 Modo is a great club for juniors and young promising players. But I think it goes for all clubs more or less that when they have a shot at making playoff or maybe winning you dont want mistakes and you wont gamble with young players. Often the veterans steal all the icetime and juniors hits the bench. There have been alot of critism form media and fans and its better these days. I think Hagg will develop good in Modo, but next year I want him over. I remember Gustafsson saying that he was chocked over the fast tempo in NHL, you dont have time to think, just act. In the swedish elite league you have often alot of more time to think what you wanna do with the puck, the passing game is great in sweden but it is slower than NHL, Peter forsberg was able to take the fine passing game he had and bring it over to NHL. He could addept to the fast play and still making good passes. Some players cant. I dont want Hagg to stay too long in sweden, he must adept to the faster game of NHL.

Yes but it depends. If Modo is making a rush for the playoffs it might not be the best team for Hagg becouse swedish elite teams have a tradition to relie to veterans when it comes to playoffs. So we can hope for a bad season for Modo and Hagg will get alot of developing icetime

Hate to say i told you so. I never understod why some folks here was happy flyers signed Bryz with a HUGE contract. The guy hadnt proved anything to earn that contract. It was a huge risk and its a shame an organisation like the flyers did it. The years with Bryz have been sad. Mason and Emery is better but it wont last long and we wont win with them. Next year there will be another golie and the golie-curse will continue until this organisation finally LEARN that. 1. Develope a young promising golie 2. Draft a promising golie as nr1 pick. 3. Trade for a proven top 5 golie.

Ye the swedish elite league is good and skilled and i think Hagg should play there one more but at the same time AHL and NHL is faster and smaller ice. Its not wrong if he is playing the AHL already to adjust to the tempo.

Why didnt we try to trade Williams back here? Years went by and i thought he would get back... its a shame. But the worst trade ever was Sharp for Nobody (Ellis something)

I was really mad at Renberg and the swedish tv broadcast he was working for at the time. Renberg should have tried harder being avaible for the game and the broadcast company should have let him play.

Im glad to announce after watching every swedish game that Gustafsson did play the A game every game every shift. Man was I glad to see this!!! I couldnt see one single mistake or give a way in the semi final against the finns and in the final. He also scored a goal in the gold winning game against the new comer Swiss. Gus also played ALOT of minutes. I think Gus will be a huge add to our team next season. Im glad for that. Isnt it funny thou. Gus maybe grows to be one of our best defensemen but wasnt expected. Parent was expected but just disapeared. I mean, look at devils. They have had a strong team every year without going for the high drafted. Good scouting pays off! I think flyers really scouted good in Gustafsson.

I agree that our defense need improvement. Well, it would have been interesting to see our whole defense corp but we didnt becouse of major injuries. But still, hatin' Bryz or not, is that flyers PAID WAY TOO MUCH. We were signing a wildcard, not proven as a solid nr 1 on any team. Yes he did some good seasons back then but we paid Brodour/Lundquist money on Bryz. I dont hate Bryz. I think he is decent... and thats what I expected of him. A decent top 15-5 golie. But we paid for a 5-1 top golie.

Thank you very much for the answere. I havent been able to see so many games this season becouse of the tv company but i have streams sometimes. Will get new tv licens for nhl next season. Sounds great about "gus" and lauridsen too. Even thou this is a crappy season its nice to follow the young guys and nice to here Gus doing good.

Is it time to give him a permanent roster spot or will he get sent down when injuries heals? I think he is really good at his skates and he's playmaking. What I was missing from last year was muscle and defense, but on the other hand he wasnt bad at our own end but he seemed alittle bit small in some situations. I guess, he wont get bigger so are we satisfied with him the way he is (offensive/allround defenseman) is he to stay as our 6th defenseman? what do you think?

Hmm maybe the flyers organisation should try something new instead... called: CONSISTENCY! Please add a talent golie and let him grow in the organisation. Add young defensmen. Add young forwards (as we did with gagne/williams/Richards/Carter/Girouxe to name a few) BUT keep them. Stop the panic moves and trades. Stop the madness!!! We had a great rebuiled team the Vengeance year, we had something good going. Today its RUIN.. there is nothing left. We have nothing to trade for, no picks, no value veterans,,, It looks dark, very dark. I think we have to take soma seasons in the doghouse and going step by step. But we for sure have a rebuild ahead.

When I saw our roster I was glad when the lockout took place becouse I understod that we wouldnt win anything this year with that roster. If Homer is smart and want the best for flyers he takes the blame for the poor silly season and KEEP LAVY this summer. But There is ALOT to do this summer. We have 5-6 players who were Key players 1-2 years ago. Those are not anymore. I think you can figure out for yourself wich players Im talking about. They just dont fill their old spot anymore.

Lavy has to go"" means "I dont know anything about hockey" Sorry but have you missed the fact that we didnt strenged our roster this summer??? its was a disaster of a silly season. And we still have our crappy goaltender wich I thought would be gone this summer. Ironicly he seems to be alittle bit better than last year. Believe me! Lavy is NOT the problem. He knows hockey and he knows how to win the cup. Our defense is not as good as it was. Nothing new is added, just guys getting older, and losing carle and pronger. The biggest problem is the lack of Carter, Richards and JVR upfront. Schenn/simmonds/voracek are another type of players and doesnt bring what they did. I like simmonds as a player and I like the goalproducing and speed of voracek! But I want more from Schenn.

Firing Lavy would be stupid. He is a coach who knows how to win the cup, period. I cant see anyone better at the market. Hell, I cant see anyone in NHL who would be better, maybe a few. But when our ROSTER is the REAL PROBLEM, firing Lavy wouldnt solve anything.
