  1. Thanks, thought so, but it's hard to watch Juniors in the South.
  2. @jammer2 @flyercanuck @Podein25 Didn't one of you say Konecny played on the PK regularly in Juniors? I thought I saw that, but now I can't find it.
  3. Yeah, this is basically a slightly richer version of the Couturier deal (6.75% of the cap vs. 6.07% at the time of signing for Couturier). Even if Konecny doesn't improve at all, it's a fair deal. If he gets into the 30/60 range due to full time first line play or an improved PP2, it'll be a bargain.
  4. Not much. They have 8 defensemen and 11 forwards with just under 1.9 million left (I'm not counting Gabriel). So they need two forwards with that, which is a minimum of about 1.4 million. It'll be tight, but they can basically keep whomever they want.
  5. I was close. 5.5 for 6 years. https://twitter.com/charlieo_conn/status/1173674454414712832 @charlieo_conn: Konecny gets his long-term deal. $5.5 mil AAV over six years. https://t.co/Lf2frWkDuA
  6. https://twitter.com/NHLFlyers/status/1173670519247450113
  7. Tweaked groin for Frost. Being held out as a precautionary measure, might be back tomorrow.
  8. Yeah, the 35% rule is for frontloaded contracts. Backloaded contracts can't have an increase greater than the lowest value of the first few years. I don't remember the exact rule, but that's basically it.
  9. Yes, but it's just $10 million, as he makes over 660 thousand, which is the 110% threshold. So if he doesn't like where negotiations are going, he just signs the QO and walks to UFA. I'm mostly hoping for Fletcher to get a bit of value somewhere. Getting Konecny for 6 years between 5 and 5.5 would be a great deal while not being a significant underpayment, either.
  10. Honestly, the Patrick injury might be a good thing. It opens up that 3C spot for someone like Frost to get time to start the season. If he can make it impossible to send him down when Patrick is healthy, then maybe he forces one of the Raffls or Pitlicks down to LHV and AV balances the line times out like I suggested earlier.
  11. Meier actually got a 5 year, $34 million dollar contract that walks him to UFA once you account for the $10 million salary in the last year. Meier is a good comp, but so are Kapanen and Johnsson in Toronto. You should end up splitting the difference between those deals on a short term AAV, which would be about 4.7 million. If the Flyers are going to use up almost all of their remaining available cap space, I'd like to lock him down at a reasonably long term.
  12. If you're going to 5.3, I'd want at least another year. Incentives are only allowed on ELCs and over 35 contracts.
  13. I'm all for playing Farabee or Frost up in the lineup and spreading the talent around the middle six. Giroux - Couturier - Frost/Farabee JVR - Hayes - Konecny Lindblom - Patrick - Voracek
  14. Morissey being older actually supports my position - the contract buys six UFA years as opposed to two. In addition, as term goes down, so (generally) does cap hit. Even if you believe that Provorov is better, as I do, that 6.75 is comparable to a 7.25, 7.5 on an eight year deal. Is he that much better than Morrissey,, who might be the #1 on the Jets going forward? The flip side is on a long term deal, you expect a higher AAV than Werenski's deal. If you subscribe to the idea that they are roughly comparable, that values those two UFA years bought at around 9 million. I'm not really quibbling about the contract, I was worried he'd come in over 7, I'm just surprised looking at the recent comparables.
  15. Word is it's a surprise, because he's been out on the ice leading up to camp.
  16. It's a good question. He's a 25/50 player without PP1 time. Actually quite similar to JVR in that respect. Flyers can't really afford to go over 5.75 million. Less is better.
  17. I'm a bit surprised, based on the Morrissey and Werenski deals, I'd have thought it would come in a bit lower. Good deal, though.
  18. Well, the other option is to pay through the nose as he enters his prime, like Columbus will be facing with Werenski. And then you run the risk of him just signing his QO and walking to UFA in 4 years instead.
  19. He's a UFA at the end of this deal. Takes him to 28, buys two UFA years.
  20. I have no doubt it won't happen. But it's what I would do. I'm tired of plugs who are there solely to fill a role. Fill your roles with your best players. Get ahead of the curve. Eliminate the "energy" 4th line that plays 7 minutes a night. Put guys with skill there and let them play the same game as the top lines. Don't worry if you don't get them away from top line competition all the time. Vary ice time based on which lines are doing well, while still trying to keep it relatively even depending on score. Special teams is where you can get your absolute best guys the extra minutes.
  21. So the Flyers have a bit better than 8 million to get TK under contract and fill two-three additional forward slots.
