  1. While the Richards and Carter trades were beneficial to the team. I think any player that has a decent agent and any leverage is going to get a NTC/NMC in their contract effective the moment it takes effect(lol @ Carter).
  2. Another 6 years for Harts? At this point he really needs to consistently put up the numbers he did last year. He was way overpaid for what he brought to the table for the bulk of his previous contract but obviously shined when paired with Giroux. Hopefully he can keep it up with his point production and smack some bodies around on top of it.
  3. Come on man, I had a pretty bad day at work and come hom to this? Now I need to go out for some drinks thanks!
  4. Not really seeing how that is high for what he brings? Only 23 years old and scored 28G, 21A, -1 in 82GP. He hits, drops the gloves when needed, healthy (only missed 6 games in 4 NHL season) and a genuinely good guy (not that has any effect on his on ice skillset). Yes it was a career year but he never really was given any scoring opportunity while in LA, he got it in Philly and produced when given the chance. Of course each player brings their own skillset but... Jeff Skinner, 20 years old, 20G, 24A, -8 in 64GP signed a 5.72 cap hit 6 year extenstion. Ryan Kessler, 27 years old, 22G, 27A, +11 in 77GP. $5 mil cap hit for next 3 years And I wanted to do some more research here bt just got real sleepy but my point is the cap hit is right at or possibly below market value for what he brings. Good night all!
  5. Not seeing this anywhere (probably on Twitter or something) but my friend is telling me Simmonds is working on a 6 year extension with a $4 mil cap hit. Not a bad cap hit especially if he continues to develop some more, I'm a big fan of Simmonds and what he brings to the table every night. We'll see if this actually happens though.
  6. Timonen will be another year older? Oh wait, you said positive.
  7. Completely agree, Lilja obviously isn't a main part of the defense but he does provide depth and is a veteran in the league. While I don't think you will find too many(if any) fans of Lilja it's still another blow to an already paper thin defense. I don't mind giving the young guys a shot but everyone will be unfairly calling for their heads while they go through the growing pains.
  8. Exactly Jammer, his handshake didn't have anything in it. Hopefully in time it heals all the way but makes you appreciate how much those kind of guys give (even if not successfull) .
  9. I didn't win the Giroux jersey, doh! Glad to donate to a good cause though. Shook Riley's hand at the end and thanked him for being there, he doesn't have much a shake anymore (think all that fighting had anything to do with it?).
  10. Little late on this but Riley Cote is at the Willow Grove Mall at Dynasty Sports from until 3 today. $20 gets you an 8"x10" autographed by him and a raffle ticket to win an autographed Giroux jersey. All proceeds go to his charity to fight MS. I live right around the corner so hit it up and it was pretty dead there. Riley was real friendly and willing to talk to anyone, he seems like a good guy. Thanked every single person for coming out and supporting the cause and was geniunely appreciative.
  11. I think Coots will one day regularly put up 30-35 goals and looking in the 70 point area. He is so solid and smart defensively I think it's going to prevent him from getting that offensive role. That's not necesarily a bad thing if you have a shutdown center putting up those kinds of numbers. The kid just has hockey smarts, he's only going to get better and is going to be exciting to see him develop and grow as a player.
  12. Please delete this thread as it is not a bout Weber.
  13. Good read indeed, I don't always check out hockey's future as everytime I do it seems to be old stuff. Thanks for sharing and getting some nice info on the draft picks.
  14. Very good point. Considering how young the team is offensively and his ability to connect (or even invite them to live with him and his kids) with them I think he would be a good choice. He has 3 years left on his contract and can help groom some of the younger guys into the role or allow Weber (again granted if this goes through) to become seasoned with the Philly scene. I love Pronger in the O&B as captain but the offer sheet to Weber is an indicator that his playing days are done. Not sure what it means to the player but I feel it would be beneficial to have a captain on the ice. Just be thankful we have so many options of veteran leadership with such a young group of players.
  15. Somebody was angry that their coach wanted them to play hockey instead of being a dumbass... Was never really much of a carbomb fan, just lost what very little respect I had for him.
  16. Not so sure if Timo gets it. He is obviously more than capable but on the last year of his contract and other guys who also have leadership experience signed beyond the next year I think one of them will get it. Giroux obviously is the face of the franchise and will hopefully be a force for the foreseable future but that doesn't necessary warrant a C IF the Weber offer goes through; he has leadership but will be the "New guy" and may warrant Timo getting the C for the year and then Weber next year. So to answer you question, nobody will know jack until the roster is finalized
  17. Shelley and a 3rd (nahhh make that a 2nd) for future consideration to (insert team that needs to hit the cap floor here) is the only way you will trade him away.
  18. Rusty can play either wing. I don't think he was brought in to be a 1st line winger (at least I hope to god not). I think bringing him in will allow Voracek or somebody else to move up to that spot barring any acquisitions.
  19. Rangers just re-signed Biron to 2 years $2.6 million so he's off the market. I'd rather see them address this sooner rather than later before the "good" backups are off the market.
  20. Still much less shocked than last season lol
  21. Not really going to be able to low ball the Ducks. Ryan doesn't have a NTC so whoever wants to pay the price for him will get him. A 1st round pick offer with nothing else will not cut it, probably looking at a 1st, a younger dman (Mesz/Coburn), and probably a forward (Vorachek/Read) for them to even consider it. Regardless of where the player wants to go, he has no say in the matter without that NTC/NMC. Would love to see Ryan in the O&B but be prepared to give up more than just a 1st round pick.
  22. Not sure where this whole "loads of cap space" thing came from? As you mentioned several players need to be resigned that are due bumps in salary. Pronger DOES count against the cap right now and until the season begins he can't be put on to LTIR for the year so we do not get the cushion in the offseason. Granted the CBA allows going over 10% (I believe?) over the cap in the offseason. At this stage in the game we are pretty much out the running for any Parise, Suter, Weeber tpe FA. We will get outbid by other teams.
  23. I think the only injury he had was the concussion after taking a puck to the head? I could be mistaken. Even if they were turned off by Maata you would think defense still no? Defensive center was the last thing I would put on my wish list for this team righ tnow.
  24. Good trade for the Pens getting 8th overall and Sutter. They got 2 solid future dmen in the 1st round and freed up some cap space. If they manage to grab Parise in Free Agency it's gonna get ugly for the rest of the Atlantic/East
  25. I was screaming at the TV after this pick and immediately turned the draft off... You have a guy ranked 10th overall at the 20th pick in a position of need and you draft a guy ranked 28th overall at a position of strength? On top of that the Flames want to continue to be a joke and pick a guy who they could have gotten in the 2nd round with the 21st overall and let the Pens get Maata. Unreal! That being said the Flyers have been successful with their 1st round picks so I'm TRYING not to get pissed off and pass judgement. The Jack Daniels isn't helping this whole anger thing after that giant question mark.
