I am not ready to quit on Simmonds either. He already hits like a 4th line player and putting him on the 4th instead of Schenn when he comes back will make more sense. IMO , Harry Z. will be the next Shelley victim when Schenn returns......

1) The polar bear remark was in reference to the temperature there. I moved to Florida because I did not care for Pennsylvania winters much less the frigid temps they experience in Winnipeg. 2) I can't argue that the money was not a factor but I don't think it was the only factor. I was taking his remarks for the basis of my post.

I don't dislike the guy, I just don't see his fit with the Flyers (not at 1.1 mil per anyhow). Jody Shelley at this point in his career is an enforcer/goon. You saw what that got him in the Jets game. He was trying to get someone, anyone to engage and got no takers. The Refs responded by giving him a 10 minute misconduct. I think that is what you are going to see Jody get anytime he is on the ice. If he is so good in the locker room, send him down to Adirondack and steer him towards the coaching aspect of the game. He has got to bring more to the table there than he does as a Flyer. All he truly is doing now is keeping the young guys down in the AHL because of his salary.

Winnipeg may be a great place...if you are a polar bear. The guy merely spoke his true feelings on the subject. I would not go there (to live) if I had the option. Very few friends, only your own family, non existent Russian community. It probably seemed to him like he was being sent to Siberia. If you have not noticed by now, Bryz is a straight shooter when it comes to the media. That is why the Flyers tried to put a gag on him.

At 37 he logged 26:41 of ice time.....ANYBODY would look tired after that...especially with a large chunk of it on PK and PP where the shifts tend to stretch..

Really? What about Simmonds? Hartnell? Pronger? The Flyers have more than enough players on this team to keep people honest. Shelley brings nothing but a reputation that he is punished for by the refs.

As of 11/19 this year, Jody Shelley has played in 7 games as a Flyer and 4 of those 7 games are losses for the Flyers. In those 7 games, he has played a whopping 27 minutes and 43 seconds which averages out to just under 4 minutes a game. He completely changes the aspect of the 4th line when he is on the ice. They go from a legitimate scoring threat with Couturier/Rinaldo/Zolnierczyk to a target. The only thing Shelley does at this point is take penalties. Did he deserve the 10 minute misconduct he got for shoving a few people yesterday, absolutely not, but his reputation and presence on the ice do nothing more than shorten the Flyers bench and hose up the lines that seem to be coming together. How long will it take before the Flyers brass start to see that?

1)I would start by thanking them for the invite and then politely decline it. 2) I would attempt to rescue my dad from the movie by asking him if he would prefer joining you to watch the games. 3)Offer to do a take out meal from somewhere decent and enjoy time with family at your home while watching the Boise State game. Everybody gets to watch what they want, you still get to spend the time together, and best of all, you do not have to sit through a Twilight movie....... That would be my choice.

If you watch Miller, he fully expected Lucic to at least veer away from him..you can tell by the way he(Miller) sets his shoulder to actually clip Lucic and then flop on the ice for the call. Problem was Lucic figured it out and said "well if that is how he wants to play it....."

I am a John Leclair fan also. I don't know if you caught Mark Howe's induction speech but, the humble guy that Mark seems to be said he would have never made it to where he is today without his partner "the Beast". At the very least, I would like to see the #2 Jersey hanging in the rafters with a decent size #10 in black patch on it. I think that would allow the Flyers to pay tribute to Brad and family and still allow them to hang Johnny Leclair's #10 in the rafters too. This might be the ramblings of a drunk guy at this hour but it seems like a good idea to me.

I think Kaberle is overpaid for what he contributes. He definitely leans towards the offensive defenseman side and would be in Lavi's dog house in less than a week. You know a team like Carolina might be able to use a guy like........damn....never mind..... The point is he is not fitting in a system where he should excel, There would be no way on earth that he would survive in philly.....

Carcillo on a line with Kane and Sharp? No wonder he is singing about how he likes it there. Carcillo rarely saw playing time on the top 2 lines at philly, for obvious reasons.

Not sure which glasses you have on swede, but Jagr certainly has not been lazy. Hell, he is even getting production out of Hartnell. Jagr is averaging 1 point a game and is second on the team behind Giroux. I would wager to say that Jagr is a much better bargain than Shelley for the price......

If Avery is still with the Rags, that should provide the proverbial gasoline for the fire.....

The way JVR has been playing (possibly injury related), this could be a good time to sit him. Since he has come back from his game being a "healthy" scratch, he has been mostly invisible. This could be a good opportunity to rest him and give Schenn a shot without disrupting the rest of the lines.....

With the teams current play, it would make more sense to put him playing top line minutes for the Phantoms as opposed to spot time on the 4th line with the Flyers. Also,roster-wise, someone will have to be sent down to make room for him, won't they?

Who have you been watching phlfly? Comparing Simmonds to Carter? Simmonds hits people every time he is on the ice, he plays in the crease, and actually drops the gloves when the need arises. Carter, well he skates in on the right, shoots high and wide, and then coasts around the rink until his next opportunity to repeat comes along.
