  1. You got that right! I do hope MG does better this year in Nashville--I think him getting traded really bothered him and affected his game.
  2. I hadn't looked up all of Fiala's stats until now for some reason, but at no point in his minor or professional career has he been a particularly high goal scorer or assist man. I'm convinced with Fiala it's what you see is what you'll get. I guess if we don't expect more out of him than that, and can sign him pretty cheap, he's a seviceable NHL player as a 3rd or 4th liner.
  3. Disagree about one thing--Boudreau and Molitor, both of the older generation, were not the issue with the Wild or the Twins. Nothing wrong with coaches/managers preferring veteran players, most of them do it--and for good reason.
  4. And to your point I assume all of these prospects have been playing for most of their lives, so you'd think they would have had any issues worked out by now. Seems like there is somewhat of a disconnect between what players think vs what scouts think.
  5. After reading dozens of scouting reports on a variety of players, in my estimation there are over half reported to have some type of skating issue. Seems like a lot to me. I'm not sure if the standard of a "good/strong skater" is very well defined or what.
  6. Fenton is getting better(green). At least they weren't dashed after the first pick.
  7. Krebs does look good. He definitely would have been picked higher had it not been for his sliced achilles.
  8. Agree 100%. I think they probably should have drafted a center here as well, but in no way does that influence my opinion of Boldy as a prospect.
  9. I've read a ton about this guy and some scouts say skating is not his strong suit. But never to the point that it will hold him back, so to speak. I've also read some scouts saying he is a strong skater, and some not bringing up his skating at all. He's not slow. For me, he passes they eye test.
  10. I only mentioned Bergeron because he's such a good 2-way player. Consensus by scouts is that Boldy has made major improvements in this regard to the point where he may even be a Selke type player as a winger.
  11. The only way he is more than 2 years away is if he goes to BC as he is planning to do. Looking at his development up to this point, considering the group of players he's been competing with and against while on the national team, some of whom are expected to make at least some impact on the NHL immediately, seems like the only benefit he will gain by going to college, relating to his NHL career, is physical maturity. As much as I like Boldy though, the Wild probably should have taken a guy like either Newhook or Krebs at #12.
  12. I love his style of play. He's very aggressive offensively and prefers to attack rather than dump and chase--he'll force the play much like a center but can do it from the wing. He has a well developed defensive game as well. Marian Hossa or Patrice Bergeron, anyone?
  13. I've heard more than one scout say that he may be the best goal scorer in this draft--his game translates very well to the NHL. He is one of those guys who hadn't been on the radar much until he turned 16, when he grew from 5'10 to 6'2. His game grew with him and he is currently on a pretty steep upward development curve. This guy IMO is more than just a "safe" pick--he's currently got alot of game and his upside his very high..
  14. Patience allowed you guys to be in the position you're currently in--and a good position it is. GMCF just has to make the right moves. Oh, hey, did we Wild fans mention CF is a very generous man? Seriously, I hope things work out for you all--your passion for this team is admirable.
  15. I think you nailed it. Either way the outlook for this team, at least for the near future, is pretty grim.
  16. I'm afraid the only way to right this ship is new ownership. At this point it doesn't look like that will happen for the foreseeable future, as CL sees NHL ownership as a viable business(or at least he did a year ago) and wants to keep it in the family. Let's all stop going to the games and buying merchandise and try to make it happen. It may be the only way.
  17. IMO there's no doubt the shift in culture began while under Leipold's ownership--but it became much more apparent after the Parise/Suter signings.
  18. If y'all get a chance check out Russo's latest interview with Fenton(about what his plans for the Wild may be in the near future) on The Athletic's website earlier this week. He pretty much blows Russo's questions off, giving no real answers. Fenton's a real piece of work....
  19. And for the most part saw Getzlaff eating Hanzal's lunch. BB didn't think all that highly of Hanzal.
  20. Actually BB was coach when that happened. But IMO that was not BB's decision--that came from GMCF.
  21. I don't care what anybody said about the Zucker for Frolik and a pick trade, no way this was ever going to happen(unless the pick was a first rounder), and it didn't. Not a GM in the league would be dumb enough to make this deal, not even GMPF. Wait a minute, he is the smartest guy in the room...
  22. You are correct IMO. More of the same around here if CL owns the club. Do you recall what kind of condition he left Nashville in?
  23. No problem. Great post. I remember Frankie, wore #6 if memory serves. Not very many Czech's in the NHL then...
  24. "Winning playoff hockey" Bruce Boudreau/ forward by Cliff Fletcher
  25. LMAO. The guy in the suit actually wasn't too bad...
