hate to say it but every since pronger left this roster, this team went downhill of trying to figure how to play consistent. they are lacking that pronger type of leadership on this roster, like every move this organization is making is small moves and not big time impact type of players that will make this players feel excited to play for that guy, like for instance a patrick kane and drew doughty types. we need a major impact type of move.

i mean if they make the playoffs, that's fine, i just hope the front office acknowledges that we need more talent on this roster.

yes that's what i was suggesting the flyers should do instead of going a complete tear down and relying on just draft picks to make us better because it's not going to work, we have to acquire assets and trade them to fix this roster like the 07 flyers did. they tore it down by acquiring assets and used them to acquire players that can help us now.

that's the thing the rangers never tore the whole thing down and rebuilt the team with just draft picks like the sens, they traded for players that are nhl prime, draft a goalie and signed panarin, that's why the rebuild was fast, if they did a complete tear down and rebuild with just draft picks that would take a long time. that's the way the flyers should approach this rebuild like 2007 get rid of high salary cap players and trade for elite players that are on the block in the offseason and either play your youth that's ready or sign some scrap heap players to save your cap space so you can pay your elite players. the only reason why this team is in such big hole is because we are paying the wrong players and not the elite ones.

i think that's key word that this team that has been missing for years, pronger aka big time proven star. if you look at the rangers, lightning, hurricanes they have all have in common a big time proven star. i mean let's say we get a kane and drew doughty, i think they would make this team a contender.

yeah, i really think the most of these players that have been for more than 5 years here, they need a fresh start not just for us but for their sake as well. we need new blood on this team.

and get every elite player that's on the market, i dont care how much they pay for them and play the youth to save salary cap. it's time to to go big or go home.

about the richards and carter days, this is what made homer a complete rebuild genus, he didnt think about just richards and carter carrying them and become stars, he thought about bringing in more talent because richards and carter werent enough to get us over the hump. if he pulled a hextall and hope that richards and carter would carry the team, we would the Edmonton oilers of tanking because it's not enough, you need more stars/talent to speed the rebuild.

fletch has to get talent in the offseason i dont care how he does it, cant ice this same team next year, it will be a major disaster. about hextall's plan, it's the same problem that ottawa and buffalo are having, they keep thinking about we can just be competitive with our own picks without talented players on the roster, it's never going to work even if you had a crosby and malkin type, it's not enough. every team that has rebuild and been successful is building a team with more stars from other teams and not relying on your own picks to become stars, it's a recipe for disaster and it's happening to us. it's fine to have young players save cap space that's the point of it so you can get stars and even if a young player is star that's great but you still need proven stars from other teams to speed the rebuild and be competitive.

yeah i think relying on just draft picks on the whole roster alone isnt going to fix anything, i think the way to do it is sell and buy at the deadline sort of like the 2007 trade deadline. trade either vets for young prospects/picks or trade them for proven players that are on contracts and then in the offseason, keep your 2021 first round pick but trade the rest of the picks from the trade deadline for proven players on contracts and use free agency to fill the rest of the roster.

then you have to choose either hart or tank because keeping hart while tanking will ruin him, it's bad enough last year he had no defense around him and getting lit up, you really think keeping him with no defense for next 5 years of tanking is going to help him?

then you trade hart then, he's not going to want to be part of a tanking roster and it will probably make him a mediocre player because it will destroy his confidence.

then i guess we have to go short term moves like bringing in older stars and hopefully that works out.

here's what i would do, tank for a few years hopefully we draft two star centers and get a star defenseman then go for it in 2024 or 2025 by adding cheap vets and hopefully a star player from fa will come here and this team will be back in the winning column. it just sucks we are wasting hart though, not unless you send him back to the phantoms for a few years let him get confidence and not let the losing get to him. i really dont know what to do in this situation right now. the team is just bad right now and we need talent, not unless you retool by getting rid of cap vet players somehow and use the picks and some players on here to bring in older talent. i think that's best thing you can do for hart. tanking with hart on this roster isnt a good idea not unless they trade him too and just get a star goalie from another team when this team is ready to compete.

that's why im saying they have to rebuild, we dont have the right system and we dont have the right players, it's been the problem for 10 years, when we dont have both, it's buffalo sabres 2.0, that's why homer was a great gm in 2007 because he nuked the whole roster besides richards and carter that was part of steven's system and brought in players that fit his system that's why we made the playoffs the next year.

they have to do a complete rebuild, overhaul the coaching staff/gm. let the coach and gm work together and pick his own players from the free agency aka kraken/vegas to fit his system with hart as the goalie. it's working for the kraken and vegas, maybe we should do it, get George McPhee if he's interested in becoming the gm again or go after darche director of tampa bay's hockey operations and bring one either one of the assistant coaches from tampa or his ahl team benoit groulx from the syracuse crunch. we need a complete different approach, no more former flyers.

av shouldnt been hired in 2019, they should have just went to a complete rebuild/tear down that year. there's no talent on this roster to build from. av was hired to a tanking roster.

could happen especially after the money they are losing, this is worse than 07 i might add.

hate to say it but i hope they tank this year and maybe dave will get his out of his butt and actually accept this team needs a rebuild because that's where it's heading right now. probably the only chance of us winning a cup in 18 after blowing that, it's pretty much over after that.

i mean like seriously what is going to take for av haters to understand that it's the players? like does this team have to go to buffalo territory for anyone to wake up?
