  1. The only thing questionable about this case is why the police didn’t do their job the first time around and had to be embarrassed into doing it the second time.
  2. Yeah, this would be great if it were 5 or 6 years.
  3. Also, according to most research, the number of people falsely accused of rape/sexual assault are absolutely dwarfed by the number of actual victims who don't bother to report it or press charges.
  4. You're neglecting the fact that Hart and the other players were "cleared" by what apparently was a sham police investigation nearly intended to clear them.
  5. Why do I think you won't be even after the trial ends?
  6. Not presuming Hart was involved or not involved - I wouldn't know - I am and have been presuming for some time that he wouldn't be the starting goalie for this team when it was finally a contender. You have to know when to cash in assets and I didn't think the Hart asset was going to be worth more in the future.
  7. We should have traded him when we had the chance. Another asset wasted.
  8. Thank god for Torts. This is a very easy team to root for that is starting to get me over my hatred of the organization. I think they should trade Walker and Seeler at the deadline and hope it doesn't tank the playoffs. It would be great to see them playing with house money. Absent any no-brainer deals, everything else can wait for the offseason.
  9. 40 years and not one player they lost over money. Doesn't that say something to you other than "open the checkbook."
  10. I knew you were going to say Patrick Sharp. They didn't trade Patrick Sharp over money. Try again. I am waiting, but you won't come up with one, because there are none.
  11. Like, I'm actually enraged that a supposed Flyer fan would think that this team's problem has been they've been stingy paying players over the years. I'm just going to assume that @GratefulFlyersjust woke up in 2022 from 40 years in hibernation. You're like a kid who just mowed his first lawn and is going to blow it all on candy.
  12. This is absolutely a delusional thing to say. Name a single Flyer since 1990 who was "due" for a big contract where the team failed to pay them the money and they went on to make the Flyers regret it. Go ahead. I am going to wait. The truth is exactly the opposite: I can name dozens of players the Flyers paid, because they thought they needed a player, then regretted it later.
  13. It’s also absolutely not sustainable from year to year. If the team isn’t selling on UFAs (and maybe some others) at the deadline, it is a huge mistake.
  14. All of those guys should be gone with the possible exception of Laughton.
  15. Yes, I prefer they find their own instead of hollowing out the farm for a player who has already given their best years to another team.
  16. Agree the window doesn’t open up for at least two years, so retention doesn’t matter during that period.
  17. Lol, asking the players to do their jobs and not to mope even though the organization traded away their bff is not the same as trying to keep the players from making a political statement.
  18. I think it is unreasonable to wonder this. It's simply not their job to receive messages. If these guys decide they are fine with losing, they should be the next ones shown the door. The Giroux teams didn't lose because they had accepted losing. They lost because they didn't have enough talent and the bosses kept thinking that they did.
  19. Is Fletcher still working on fixing the D or should we stop waiting for that @tucson83
  20. I agree that there may be some pieces on the roster now who could be important players on a possible serious contender say in 5 years. Farabee could be a really good player if surrounded by really good talent. But they feel like mostly complementary players (the Browns) than the stars who will strike fear into opposing teams (Kopitar). (I say 5 years because I don't think its realistic that they can contend until Gautier and Michkov are both on the team and that feels like it will be 2-3 years. I also don't think it's realistic to expect those two in their first year to be the Flyers' best players on a contending team.) It just feels like they are 1-2 All-Stars short of a Cup winning team at this point, especially on D. Those guys could be on the roster or in the system now (Bonk), but given what we know about the chances of even first round picks not developing into that kind of player (due to injury or otherwise), I would feel a lot more comfortable if the Flyers cashed in some current assets for some picks or prospects who will be coming into their own on the Michkov timeline, which is when the Flyers' window will open (if it ever does). I think how the current regime handles some limited success this year will tell us a lot about whether they have learned any patience from previous regimes' terrible impatience.
  21. It’s going to suck if that catches up to them not this year but in 1-3 years and the team then realizes they don’t have enough talent. Now is the time to get that talent.
