  1. Regardless what Dillabaugh does or does not do for Carter Hart, I feel Fedotov will be a help to Hart's game with him in the mix as another young goalie to add pressure to Hart. Competition seems to bring out the best in players and goalies it does quite a bit in my opinion. With Martin Jones, I didn't feel Carter Hart felt like there was much of a competition because Martin Jones was more or less a short term bandaid back up goalie and I think Hart knew that. With Fedotov that is not the case.
  2. As hard as it is, I will trust the process. As inept as I feel the GM is and the moves he has made and how he has starpped this team, I will trust the process. This sort of sounds like some sort of 12 step program.
  3. I think we can agree that there was a lot that was a mess with this team not only last season but also before that as well. Hart however and I believe many to view him as a future bright spot of the team along with some of the other younger talent that is on this team. There are many issues from what goes on in the front office, to laziness on the ice and just poor play that led to the dismal play of last season. I do not believe you have to worry about Martin Jones being in a Flyers jersey next season or at least I hope the hell not. I think that is a no brainer that even Fletcher can not screw up, but I better not say that too quickly.
  4. If you look at the play of Konecny he is not only a very streaky player, but the past two seasons he is going in the wrong direction towards 30. I don't know if he will ever reach his 61 point total of a few years back. Farabee on the other hand has less to go with. The last two seasons have been practically the same. I could see him improving to that next level if he is utilized correctly and if he can stay healthy.
  5. I do feel and understand what both of you are saying. I also feel however with two very young goalies that will be on the roster next season, I don't think it is the time to be changing it up at this time with the goalies. One of these young goalies in Hart has been working with Dillabaugh for sometime now and Fedotov will be new to the whole process and it is just my belief having someone in the system would be better. That is just my opinion.
  6. Regardless, I really feel it comes down to those 3 players for the Flyers to choose and unless they trade down to acquire a 2nd round selection one of those 3 players are most likely going to be in the organization in my opinion.
  7. You cannot sit and say that the defence of the Flyers have been a major issue recently and probably the biggest issue of the team? Much more then Carter Hart. Just looking at last season the defence was a complete mess and far worse than Carter Hart and Martin Jones. Both Hart and Jones had a Save Percentage over .900 and I am not saying that is spectatular, but the woes I think if you ask the majority of the Flyers fans they would say it would go with the play of the defence not from Hart and Jones. I also don't think a goalie coach can be just a friend and in my opinion Dillabaugh is not just that. You have a difference in opinion of him and that is perfectly okay. If he goes, I just hope it doesn't complete screw up the head of Hart and the other new young goalies.
  8. I agree that some head coaches do recommend an entire staff to bring on board. I would think however keeping Dillabaugh already the Flyers have in the back of their minds that is not going to be the route they go towards in hiring a new coach. We all know the front office does thing @ss backwards. So we really should never be surprised what comes next. However, I think you are wrong with a goalie coach being a sort of a friend and mentor as well as someone who teaches them as well. Goalies are most definitely a different breed among the hockey players and I believe they need to be handled differently. This is why most head coaches leave them the hell alone and leave it up to the goalie coaches to deal with them one on one.
  9. One of the main reasons he missed out on the Juniors Worlds was he suffered a knee injury. Jiricek if the Flyers was a big very good skater who has abover average offensive skills he is definitely worth a look. I think the Flyers first choice should be Savoie, but do not overlook Jiricek at all.
  10. Whatever it is that Chuck Fletcher has for Rasmus Ristolainen it is f-ing up the entire defencive unit. I believe that Fletcher thinks that Risto can add that offense to the defence and I just don't know where he is getting that from. Sanheim is the player that is used correctly can provide that from the back end. He can do it more productively if used correctly than that of Risto. The problem is Risto brings down everything else when he is on the ice. He is god awful on defence and will never produce a + at the end of the season. We all know the Flyers are stuck with him because of the ridiculous salary he makes, so we pretty much have to live with that pairing or maybe hope someone steps up and can push him down to the 3rd pairing.
  11. With your username I can see you are not a fan of Kim Dillabaugh. You might as well face it he is not going anywhere because they probably would have cleaned him out when they got rid of Mike Yeo. You might be correct that John Tortorella may not be the perfect fit for this team and I do understand your reasoning that he wears out his welcome pretty quickly most of the time. The thing with Torts is he can get the most of of teams that don't have much to give and right now that is the Flyers. Maybe in those 2 years he would be here he can get them in the right direction at least for the next coach up. Like I stated in another post this is not a quick fix. This is going to be a long process, especially with the moron that is running the show.
  12. I suppose we all wait till training camp starts and see if Ellis is ready to go or not. If he is not in need of surgery then there and he is still not able to play then what is all this waiting around for. He either needs surgery and he rehabs from that or he tries to give it a go. No more in the middle just waiting around.
  13. Hey, and thanks for the welcome. I wouldn't say ALL players on the Flyers are not give it all players, but there are some on this team. Whether it is attempting to kick their @ss into shape or weed them out Torts can do that because he has done that before. It is no denying that what will make this team a better team is getting better players. That is easier said than done. With an inept front office and being strapped with the salary cap because of signing players to incredibly crazy salaries it is not a quick and easy fix. So when that is not able to happen what do teams usually do when teams fail miserably? They fire the head coach and re-hire someone else who they think will miraculously change it around. Will that happen with any of the coaches available in the quick fix of this team, Hell No because the team sucks. So get someone who can analyze who is lazy and weed them out. This turn around is going to be a process.
  14. Yes he did score 24 goals, but what else did he do that was productive for the team? Not a damn thing. With the strong possibility of his goals spiraling downward he will be a worse pain in the arse to a team next season then he was this season. I'd loved to see him gone and your way is probably the only way it will occur so I suppose that is better than nothing.
  15. I agree with you 100%. I am just going by what the report stated that I saw.
  16. Thanks, that sounds fantastic. So I would start out in the Conn Smythe and go from there? Sounds great to me. Let me know when you all draft?
  17. Ginning is fine to sign, but he is really hit or miss in my opinion. There are other players that seem to me more of a priority that seem to be slipping away. Some of them have been mentioned above. From the big club to the development of this team this front office has no clue what they are doing.
  18. It isn't that I don't think putting ourselves in the GM's shoes is a great thing as I attempt to do that sort of thing in a very minor way in the Fantasy League I participate in with players. I guess I just wouldn't really know what to ask in that situation because I don't really have that business sense of mind. As you stated it is quite the exercise in critical thinking. I am more once the decisions have been made by those business people the type of person to either support the decision enthusiatically or bitch to no end. I guess that is why I am a pretty strong fan. Thank You for the welcome. I actually have been lurking 3 hockey sites throughout the playoffs and today being off of work due to the holiday I decided to join here because it really seemed like this forum had a lot of Flyers content and the format seemed set up really well. It also seems like there are quite a few great threads to discuss hockey under which I have already responded to.
  19. Good news as of the beginning of May is that Ryan Ellis will not require surgery for his pelvic injury. Unless there are setbacks in any way he should be ready to return for training camp next season. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  20. I am not a GM and I have never coached a sports team at any level in my life. I am not saying this isn't a nice idea, but really if these fans submit these questions are they actually using them in this process? I think not. These executives in the front office already know exactly what they want to ask and that is what they are going to ask. I am a fan and I am here to bitch and cheer about all things the team does. I am not here to be a part in the decision making of hiring, draft selection, trades, free agent signings. After they are done by the GM I as a fan am fully entitled to either bitch or cheer about it all I want though.
  21. The playoffs do suck in some ways when the Flyers sucked so bad this past season I realize they will most likely not sniff the playoff for several years to come. What also sucks is I live in the Kansas City, Missouri area and they show hockey news coverage of both the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues. They follow the Calgary Flames here because of the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL and the Flames are affiliated with them. The Blues are 4 hours away from here. So I heard about both of those teams until recently they were both eliminated. I have still been watching the playoffs because I enjoy watching hockey, but I'd much rather be cheering the Flyers on. I was born in 1995 and have never seen the team win the Stanley Cup and would love to see that happen.
  22. There are 3 players that the Flyers should concentrate on at the #5 position or they should trade down to receive a 2nd round selection. One is Matthew Savoie and it is obvious what he is capable of adding to the team, but he has slipped a bit in the draft because of his size. He is only 5'9", but many smaller players have become terrific players at the NHL level and he has a fantastic hockey IQ and plays the game well with his teammates. Then there are the two top defencemen in Nemac and Jiricek. Both RHD , but Jiricek is bigger . Both these players could help in the long run.
