  1. one of the luckiest sumbitches in the league... no way breakdancing in the crease can lead to such a stellar career but alas!!! we have Hasek
  2. First fight was okay and was gonna write that I was sorta impressed, then I pulled up the next fight you linked and MUCH better representation. The kid can throw. One thing that is jarring is that he's taking on guys that are relatively close to his size so it's interesting how 6'7" didn't look all that imposing. oh, and on the second fight... nothing more annoying than watching guys who wear visors drop the gloves off a faceoff and not take off the buckets. If you're in a scrum along the boards in the heat of the moment, fine, I get that you don't have the where with all to think, okay, we're scrappin, let's take off the visors. Both of those fights however were right off the face off, both guys wear visors... don't either of them wonder what the point of punching plastic is? I used to like how the goon code was if you're gonna be rough and have the occasional fight, no visor. Now with the way sticks and pucks come up, ya gotta put the tough guy code to the side and at least take care of your face in that regard but if you are going to negotiate a fight before play even starts, you have time to remember to take the pansy face shield off.
  3. no need for a trade at this point. There's plenty of time left in the season to figure out where those that are injured will play into the overall equation. The young guys filling in have been doing very well. The team is finally developing it's youth and it's working so why rock the boat. And like everyone else has said, there really isn't much worth going after on that lineup, especially if you factor in age and or cap hit.
  4. as well as an elevated heart rate... at one point I was wondering if we were going to see him regularly. Great to see him performing as well as he has this season!
  5. What suspension? the one from the pre-season? You can't serve that suspension in the A? I guess not. I was thinking of Shelley but he was never sent down.
  6. I agree. I think the kid is paying attention SOO much to being responsible defensively. I'll take him playing fantastic 2 way hockey then worry about trying to step into G's shoes and score a bunch at the expense of his solid 2 way play. He can play offense, we've seen it. His goals will come.
  7. thanks for the vid. I was out watching the game and had to leave before the game was over so I missed this play. Dirty is right. Between this and the other 2 vids above, how does he not get called on this by the officials? Once again an example of inconsistent officiating that cheapens the league. How do you explain this to new viewers and get them to take the sport seriously.
  8. I wonder why the Flyers are having a hard time calling it a concussion. The one report I read said he had "concussion-like" symptoms and Pronger himself said he passed baseline tests. A bunch of us here were predicting concussion back when it was just a virus. What's the big deal, call it a concussion, put him on the IR, hope he's healthy come playoffs and move on. Am I missing something?
  9. I heard he has a mild concussion and is out indefinitely http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/Pronger-out-with-concussion-like-symptoms.html (bottom of the article)
  10. I'll assume this is a serious question and I can only point to that stick he took to the eye early on in the season. That was almost a baseball like swing that rode up the stick and into his face. I'd be willing to bet that was it.
  11. thanks for the link. I never really looked into the rules that detailed before and haven't watched any of Shanny's explanations before. Why should injury be taken into account? So if Read had his block knocked completely off Leino would've gotten more but since he's okay Leino get's less? That's about as stupid as the blood/no blood on a high stick. A high stick can cause serious injury. You wnat players to keep control of their stick. Why the F should blood factor into whether it's 2 or 4. If you think it's a problem, make them all 4. If it'snot that big of a deal, make it just 2. The result of the penalty should not dictate the punishment, the penalty itself should. As should the case with these suspensions. either the player committed the crime or he didn't. If you want to factor in the fact that this is his first offense, then I'm fine with that, but the resulting injury or lack there of should have no bearing on the punishment of the crime. Determine the punishment regardless of the result and go from there. Read can only consider himself lucky he didn't get a concussion from that and now Leino only gets a slap on the wrist. Not quite the way to send and effective message if you ask me.
  12. fair question to me. I'd say yes but sort of. On his assists, maybe. But a lot of goals G has scored this season are mostly on his merits. He's also the type of player that makes the guys playing on his line better. Having a caliber player like Jagr will certainly help but I think he'd still be enjoying success to almost the degree he is enjoying now.
  13. this is precisely how I saw it. Unfortunate that he got hurt but a suspension should NOT be handed out because this is a perfect example of what the players shouldn't be doing according to the league. You knowingly put yourself into a vulnerable position and still expect the league to protect you. Protect yourself at all times. To me, seeing the hit coming and then positioning yourself to get boarded is ALMOST the same thing as diving and the league should consistently look at it like that as well. You want to protect these guys from injury but not when they try to exploit the system.
  14. very well put, perfect example. The NHL could learn a thing or two from that league in terms of officiating. Again, no one's perfect but there seems to be a lot less controversy with that sport.
  15. wow, we had a bunch of guys IN Miller's way. Lots of bodies in the crease disrupting things and no calls. I may have missed it if any were called cause I was trying to get sh!t done around the house during the game but the times I saw bodies in the net there weren't any calls... though before the game I'd have tended to agree with you
  16. agreed, way to early to determine the overall winner of the deal. For me though, I really want to start to see something out of this kid. I unfortunately missed the games he played since returning from injury so I wasn't able to see if he was beginning to show some of what has been advertised. I will be able to see tonight's game and once again he is injured. Back to the winners and losers of the deal is concerned. I think at this point I'm willing to say both the Flyers and the Kings have won. A culture change was sorely needed here. Addition by subtraction? Possibly. If you could take the personality out of these guys it'd be much easier to compare each other's production and numbers but unfortunately personalities can do a lot to a team and their chemistry, regardless of how good or bad a player is on the ice.
  17. Just kidding, but they should tease it, get in the Sabres heads a bit. Maybe have Rinadlo and his rep for highspeed highimpact hits make a bee line for Miller then veer off at the last second every now and again. Also, Simmonds and Hartnell need to get their butts in front of him as well, They've both proven to be very annoying for the goalie when they park in front so take advantage of Miller's current situation and get in his head.
  18. while that's true, it is frustrating to think that we can't get a good sense of what this kid can bring to the Flyers because this kid IS always injured. if you can call it prone or not doesn't change the fact that since he's been here he's been hurt. Didn't he get injured in the preseason as well? From a personnel standpoint this hasn't been a tremendous return on investment and you can't ignore that. Potential can only mean so much. High hopes still remain for the guy though.
