  1. Is Rolston pairing Grigorenko with Z because they seemed to mesh in the preseason? Maybe he's hoping Z will give Grigorenko the space he needs. I'm not familiar with the players in Buffalo. Does my reason make any sense?
  2. I see you promoted Z up a line. I always said you were smart.
  3. That's another reason to hate shootouts, and 4 on 4 fiascos. That third line worker is probably the main reason that a team has held on for a tie. And he won't see overtime ice while the 1st and second line guys who failed to do their jobs and produce goals are given the unfair chance at being heros.
  4. That seems to me a pretty good description of the new rule. I'm not usually for rule changes. But, in this case, it looks like a sensible change.
  5. Any chance he will make the cut tomorrow? He's just nineteen so I think he'd be better off back in the AHL for awhile. I'm not supported in that view by family members. Anyhow it flips, we're very proud of him. He'll eventually become a quality NHLer.
  6. I'm dumb. But, I'm not dumb enough to run my mouth to someone who's a hell of a lot bigger than me. If I did, I'd expect a fight. And, if that fight happened, I hope I would have enough balls to not use my stick.
  7. Tim Kerr is one of the good guys. Thankfully, that's still the norm among hockey players.
  8. Tim Kerr and John LeClair had their careers shortened by repeated cross checks to the back. Players who weren't able to defend against their strengths within the rules, were allowed mugging rights against these two. John LeClair played in a Stanley cup playoff series at a time in which he had to be helped in and out of a car because of his injured back. I watched Timmy Kerr trying to land a gig with Hartford in preseason, when it was obvious that he couldn't stand erect due to spinal harm. It was a courageous try. And sad.
  9. Hazel used to work at NESN. There were people around here who used to spread nasty rumors about her. Guess that's a price paid by someone as good looking as her. Too many people with small minds.
  10. "Defamation of Burke's character". Gotta be worth at least a dollar and a half.
  11. I don't know enough about each team to make a guess. But, yours looks pretty good. Be fun to revisit it again in a few weeks.
  12. Ummm---My boy Z is Latvian. He wouldn't care to called a "Russian".
  13. I know a guy who was always mad. You never knew what had set him off. Everyone avoided him because he was just a pain the ass. You know what? He's a dead ringer for John Tortorella. They could be twins.
  14. Lots of good young players who are 2-3 years away. If Buffalo doesn't trade them for a "quick fix", they'll be OK down the road. PS.......Just thought I'd mention that my boy Z got two goals last night, one short-handed. My son and grandson went up to Montreal for the game.
  15. Hey Jammer.............. Any idea about how I can watch the Montreal-Buffalo game? I can get a summary on a RDS site, but I'd really like to see the action.
  16. I root for certain individuals on other teams. UVM alums, especially. And, a few others, because I like their character or style of play. Guy Carbonneau was kind enough to trade letters with one of my kids, and that made him a favorite.
  17. Geez--Hal Gill in an orange and white Flyer jersey. I guess you can always use another pylon.
  18. yave--- I'm interested in anything you hear about "Z". He billeted with my son and grandchildren and remains close. He's an awesome kid.
  19. "Screw that, I'd go back to grade 10 and get Debbie Morrow around back in the bushes" I'd like to play doctor with Ethel LaChapelle again. But, back to hockey. One of my favorite times was the Montreal-Islanders in 1993. Islanders had no answer for the line of Mike Keane, Kirk Muller and John LeClair. I don't remember goals scored by that line, but they dominated. Whole shifts would be played in the New York end.
  20. IMHO, you don't have to make pads bigger to protect a goalie's body. A padded coating of something similar to hard plastic for his arms, legs and chest would provide all the armor needed. That could be done with an addition of only a couple inches to his frame. There's no rationale for outsized pads other than to reduce the size of scoring pockets.
  21. Me too. I'd love to have either on my team, but if I had to choose one, It'd be Subban. Maybe he'd bring his brother and then Canada would have a goalie.
