  1. Let us not forget that it was G on the lazy back check that led to a goal earlier in the game. I hope this is a sign that G realizes he needs to step up and take over games at times. The fact that he has that ability needs to be realized and more often utilized.
  2. FWIW... i was playing NHL13 last night and managed to pretty much make the exact same hit on a player. I purposely charged and was totally looking to annihilate my opponent. Interestingly, the result of the hit put the player into the boards in a very similar manner to Schenn. NOT EVEN A CALL on the play. There you have it folks... it's settled.
  3. maata deserves his stay with the pens D injuries or not. the kid is playing at a very high confidence level. I watched the Pens/Rags game the other night(fantastic game btw) and the kid showed poise way beyond his years. He has the confidence and hockey sense of knowing when to jump into the play and his offensive skills are quite good.
  4. wow.. gotta say.. i'm pretty surprised by this one. I mean... that would seem to be a hit the league would want out of the game. I guess now they're saying it's quite alright to take a few strides into a player who's a few feet from the boards. I mean.. suppose he broke his neck? just because it didn't happen... doesn't mean it can't and won't next time. but, ok.. i guess that's fine.
  5. nice recall HF... and very interesting. that was an egregious attempt to murder.
  6. Pretty much 5 min into the 3rd period, you could literally sense the team sagging and pretty much counting the 2 points in the standings. They let the Caps come at them and they let their foot off the gas, which allowed the Caps to come back. Some here may see those goals as 'flukes' or what have you, but those were opportunities they never should have had to begin with. Those 'fluke' goals happened because of a team that collectively let up, believing they already had the win. Winning teams DO NOT display this characteristic. The coaches were complicit in this failing because they didn't recognize it and did nothing to correct it. There was also a chance for Berube to call a time out which seemed to be much needed after the Flyers had iced the puck for the 2nd or 3rd time within a few minutes. Berube chose not to take the timeout with gassed defenders. They were scored upon on the immediate faceoff and control. That's ok boys... we've still got a lead... NO .... NO .... NO. This is not how you build a winning atmosphere and lead a team. Accepting that these were 'flukes' is quite frankly... bullsh1t. Those goals were caused by a collective sag and this is what you have right here fellas.... a losing team.
  7. I can't disagree more. I say it's inexcusable for any nhl team to lose a game they were up 4-1 late in the 3rd and you offer up excuses. We see the game fundementally different. If you accept the excuses, then I guess you accept a barely mediocre team. Again... We see things differently.
  8. This team is not even mediocre. Today's loss is completely inexcusable from the top down. Lazy players, lazy coaches. 4-1 over halfway through the 3rd period and the LOSE they game. it's time to FIRE ALL THE THINGS!!!
  9. well.. he did come from Pitt soo....
  10. downie was a terrible skater early in his career too. he seems to be doing just fine now. he's not the smoothest, but he's effective.
  11. as sad as the east is now... it's hard to believe, but this could actually be a playoff team. if we're in the west... we're already rebuilding.
  12. F the philly media. I'm sick and tired of them even being a factor! They played a part if the Richards drama.. they feasted on Bryz.. just F them. I can think of no other town where the media is as vindictive as these clowns. They overplay their importance and inject their BS into the team with it. Just F the philly media hard. If i was a player, I'd never want to talk to those idiots.
  13. any trade the Flyers make this season better be about dumping salary and/or acquiring picks or young talent. I can't see any reason otherwise.
  14. They can't pass... They can't receive passes. They can't enter the zone on-sides. They are losing nearly every single board battle... Even on the PP. They can't hit the net.. Their legs aren't moving. Let's see... What am I forgetting!? In short.. This team simply sucks.
  15. "Their goaltending has been pretty good, and if that's not a sign that everything is all screwed up in Philadelphia then I don't know what is." That line made the entire read worth it. LOL.
  16. exactly. the other night it was like the won Lord Stanley cause Hartnell finally scored one stinkin goal. They figured... ok, that's enough and took their foot completely off the pedal. A lot of that blame falls squarely on G. Pretty directly, since he let off his man who scored the tying goal. edit: I think it's a famous Shakespeare quote(TLTG (too lazy to google)) 'if the gold rusts, what will the iron do?' If G is constantly putting in a 2nd rate effort, what makes anyone think that culture doesn't get ingrained all the way down? this is the problem we've had in philly for some years now. G is a huge concern for the team right now.
  17. i'll take a stab... 'Should i get the Lambo Aventador or just stick with the classic Ferrari... I just don't know.'
  18. sounds about right. i'm tellin ya.. i've said this before. But, they bring in Mark Streit for his booming, 'accurate', point shot. I swear I have NOT seen him hit the net once. I mean... sure I might have missed once or twice, but the majority of his shots have been like frickin musket ball shots.
  19. makes sense... team that has trouble scoring sends down their 2nd top scorer.
  20. G needs to stop talking and get on the ice and make some sh i t happen.
  21. no offense pill, but this just sounds like another 'we need a real captain' thread. i think that by now we all realize that the entire fortunes of a team does not rely solely on the captain. and... it's arguable what/if any effect a captain can have on the team. that is to say... in regards to speaking up or getting into players faces. G needs to lead on the ice with his play. that's what 'great captains' do. he's not doing that.... clearly.. he's not. so from that angle... yeah.. 'we need a real captain'
  22. the team doesn't seem to have any idea how they're going to enter the offensive zone with or without the puck, so i can only see this as a plus. it seems they are kinda trying to play a new system and when that doesn't work... revert to the old one. in other words... it's a cluster phuck. maybe a mini camp gets them all on the same page again.
  23. THIS. I'm actually more concerned that he made this bold prediction and then came out flat as pancakes. What does THIS say? It says that there is absolutely NO hope for a turnaround from this group, with this leadership... this year. It's time to 'Fire ALL THE THINGS!' Let's start with Homer and Berube and go with Hextall and Murray.
