It's all inappropriate content for a hockey forum.
Yes, there were things in the past that got through.
That's why it's much stricter these days.
There are many places to talk about AOC or FJB or any other non hockey related topic. This is not one of them.
And - theoretically - getting a pick.
They don't need cap space for the relatively young roster they will have for the next few years, they will need it when it is time to be making next steps.
Tragically for Hextall that "next step" with cap space was JVR.
That was the fallacy of Scott's "spend to the cap" mantra. It's not THAT you spent to the cap, it's WHAT you spent it on
They're likely planning to stash Peterson and eat that cap hit.
They will be fine eating half of Hayes' contract.
They won a playoff round?
They needed a 2C for the next season, they looked at the best available candidates, and signed Hayes for seven years.
In fairness, they won a playoff round as the most memorable achievement of the past decade of Flyers hockey.
So there's that.
Then the proof is in the results.
We've seen nothing to indicate that they have operated to the detriment of the organization*.
Hell, keep it up and I'll drop the *.
Sharp is an ex-Blackhawk. Were he to go into the HHOF it would be as a Blackhawk.
I'll see what happens, but at least this is a senior.hockey advisor who has played the game in this century.
I'd be thrilled to trade a 30 year old Laughton for a 19 year old Laughton.
The Rubustov draft was a terrible draft all around.
This year's draft is supposed to be stacked.
The fact he has an A and no one else on the ice did last year should represent something.
I see no indication that Laughton is a problem or a cancer or that he's anything but a likeable hard working guy.
Who should return a valuable asset for the rebuild in a trade.

A month after being introduced as a key member of the new era of orange leadership group, Valerie Camillo is pursuing other interests.
If they got an offer of three for him and didn't take it then they're mad.
I don't believe every bad thing about Chuck because the proven stuff is bad enough
Earlier in the thread there was talk of them turning down a late first for him.
I have come a long way on Laughton and used to be in CoachX's camp but he has show to be a competent NHL player and you've got to give him that.
I do question guys' drive that are signing long term with teams going nowhere.
Just smacks of not caring about losing.
I respect other opinions and can be proven wrong long term and I totally get "wanting to be part of the solution" and all, but he'll be entering his mid 30s and has the very real potential of blocking more talented players by the time the Flyers are looking to "compete."
I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest a trade might benefit all involved.
Of course I totally expect him to be in the Flyers Hall of Fame right next to Giroux.
Kevin Hayes to Alain Vigneault.
Coaches may have that guy, but that doesn't mean it works.
Laughton obviously has value. I'm just saying his value is "a late first in this draft."
And I get that he's here to represent "Flyers hockey" I just don't particularly like the "Flyers hockey" he's represented.
