  1. Totally agree with that WingNut....no way will the Isles part with Okposo.....I can see Parenteau going if the right deal comes along....but Kyle...no way, no how.
  2. Just an FYI, but I read earlier this month that Selanne and Koivu are the only untouchables on the Ducks....simply because they are the only 2 with no trade clauses.
  3. @AlaskaFlyerFan Thanks AFF, grew up reading Spidey, never got sick of the ol' web slinger!
  4. @blocker Yeah block, there is just something really special about playing outdoors. You get the feeling the orginal players got, before all the lights and infrastructures.....just nature and God's great fresh air.
  5. As the article says, very early in the development stages, but the OHL could have a few outdoor games during the Winter Classic weekend.....possibley a different venue, perhaps Comerica Park...home of the Detroit Tigers....could be interesting, will keep you posted! http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/01/25/spitfires-could-be-part-of-nhl-winter-classic/
  6. @flyerrod ha ha....still pay'in for that one huh rod? LOL, I still deserve it. Little different though, Harts is actually on pace for a really nice season. Even a bit of slump should still pot him 40.
  7. Should be interesting to see just how many goals Harts can score this year. Ya know, sounds really weird, but if he goes on a bit of a hot streak....50 is looming large. If you told me at the start of the year that 50 was even a *remote* possibility for Harts, I'd tell you to lay off the drugs. Even 40 (which is certainly within reach) sounds downright strange. Congrats Scotty, you deserved this trip to the All Star game!!!!
  8. Bryz will feel the heat until he stops giving up back breaking soft goals. He was brought in to stop that....and he has compounded the problem. As I see it, it's as simple as that.
  9. Giroux, Henrique, Hall....little Spitfire bias never hurt anybody!! LOL!

    Top Prospects game Feb 1

@Podein25 Only saw London once this year, not sure if he was playing, didn't notice him. I'm going to see the Spits and Knights Mar.15, so I'll give you a full report after that game. They also play on Feb.9th but the Flyers play the Leafs that night, so I'm outta that one.
  11. This is going to be a huge decison for Zach. From a Flyers perspective, it would be nice to see him go UFA....perferably to the Western Conference...lol. A lot of questions surrounding the long term viability of the Devils. Henrique is obviously a fine young talent....and Kovy is locked up long term, but the depth is just not there at forward. The questions in goal are my biggest concern. Looks like we might have a Brett Farve situation brewing in Jersey. Brodeur looks like he is recanting on his pending retirement. Then you have Hedberg who is late 30's (pretty sure anyways). The long term answer in goal might just be Wedgewood, but that would be a few years away. If I was Zach and wanted a ring, I'd be looking elsewhere also.
  12. @phlfly Kaberle was playing around 5-6 minutes a night during the finals.....Julien didn't trust him to put him out there more....a telling stat if there ever was one. You can describe his overall body of work for the playoffs as "downright horrible". One of the most undeserving names *EVER* engraved on Lord Stanley's cup.
  13. @CoffeehousePorcupine a post *that* obtouse can only mean one thing.....welcome gummy!!! LOL!
  14. @AlaskaFlyerFan.....ha ha....it's all good bro.
  15. I dunno, Miller....seems like a nice guy and all.....but "overrated" is the first word that pops into my head when thinking about Ryan. Sure, the Sabres suck....they sucked before the spending spree, suck worse now and have been hit by a heavy bout of injuries.....*still*.....let's look at some bare stats....Miller is making 6.25 mill a year...his GGA is 3.17 right now, his save percentage....a startling .897....yes a 6 mill+ goalie with a save% under .900....WOW. Ok, this season is an anomoly.....right??? Ryan's lifetime GGA 2.61 his SV% .913.....very pedestrian numbers, and most certainly not elite. Let's make a comparision....Martin Biron, (admittedly not a starter and different body of work....but..).....GGA 2.59 with a save percentage .911....almost identical numbers to Miller. Big differene here is Martin makes under a mill. Not saying Biron is outright better than Miller cause he's not, just saying the Sabres can get a better bang for their buck....Miller is not the star some make him out to be. Just a middle of the pack goalie who got on a hot streak....won the Vezina and parlayed that into a trip to the Olympics with team USA.@Pegulaville26
  16. @Vanflyer Exactly Van.....and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Flyers and Chris discussed this scenario before signing.....that's assuming they knew the 35 rule and how it applied to Prongs.....which is certainly up for debate....lol.
  17. @AlaskaFlyerFan Just calling them like I see them, could just smell a loss coming.
  18. Yes, Alex and Shattenkirk are rounding into fine d-men. Gotta figure they will be cornerstones for the Blues. Alex is showing the tip of the iceberg thus far, what great vision for a youngster!
  19. @hf101 Yeah, I don't know Cout's from a whole in the wall, but could not help get the feeling he's a quality human being, and very well rounded for his age.
  20. @Digityman Ironically enough, he teammate "Potter" did the damage.....LOL!
  21. http://www.windsorstar.com/sports/Oilers+star+Taylor+Hall+injury/6020159/story.html Guess he'll be out for a few more games, don't think he has very good vision in the one eye. Would be willing to bet he has absolutely no perphial vision out of that eye, which leaves you pretty vulnerable in todays NHL. He also said he could not put on a helmet without splitting open the stitches......wow, is that nasty or what? Geez, bad hair style young Taylor picked huh, there will be no covering up that scar....but guess skin grafting (or whatever they call it) is possible.
  22. @rickmac19 Agreed, for the good of his health and future well being, Sid should hang them up. I just don't see it happening though. Sid is just to compititive, the thrill of winning to engrained in him. Who knows what the next concussion will hold for him.....I don't know about anyone else, but if I have my choice of being a multi-millionaire and being able to actually enjoy my money or drooling in a bucket...I'm not taking the latter.
  23. Ha ha Pods, I'll just go ahead and admit I had to google that phrase...."an unwelcome person"....LMAO.
  24. Yep, just an FYI, Bob is 7-0 lifetime against the Islanders with a 1.86 GGA in those games. I can see why Lavi went with Bob, some goalies just have a certain teams number. Strangely enough, I dropped Bob last night in fantasy hockey before this start, despite knowing about his awesome stats against the Isles....why you ask?? Just gut instinct....these streaks all have to come to an end *and* the top line of the Isles is killing teams right now....Tavares is on a career best 10 game point streak, Moulson is on fire and Okposo has filled he net also. I hope it does not happen, but this line (and maybe Grabner....who is suppling much needed secondary scoring btw) might break out for 3 or 4 goals tonight. Plus, Nabakov is coming off back to back solid starts, including a shut-out. To me, all these points add up to a Islanders win....let's hope my gut is wrong!
  25. @Digityman There is an obvious lack of scoring power on the Blues. Some very good players like Oshie, Stewart (what a dissapointing season from him), Backes (probably the best of the lot), Alex Steen, the oldtimers Langenbruner and Arnott....decent players but certainly not elite. That's why their power play is bottom five in the league. The only way you win without elite firepower in this league is a very tight defensive system which relies heavily on outworking the opponents, forwards backchecking like demons, quick efficient exit from the defensive zone and holding down the shots on goal to a bare minimum. Hitch brought all 4 of these componets to the Blues. His system fit the team personnel perfectly and the Blues are close to the top of the Western Conference because of it. Hands down....Coach of the Year. I also like the way he is rotating the goalies in and out, keeping them both fresh. Not a lot of teams have two very good goalies that they can rotate like this, but come playoff time, they will both be fresh if nothing else.
