I dont see this is a "country" issue. It's a league issue. Crosby went to the Penguins. You know, Canadian Mario Lemieuxs, Penguins? The same Penguins that somehow had Mario, Jagar, Cindy, Frankenmalken, Fluery, etc. The league darlings franchise has been the recipient of over the top coverage, non stop nauseating praise, marketing. Edmonton does not receive that same league coverage, and I say it's more because of Mario Lemieux than it is what country the team resides in I'm pretty sure Wayne Gretzky had no problem being recognized as the greatest player the game has ever had, and he was in Edmonton

If the Flyers fund themselves outside looking in, come playoff time, I'd look to trade him, hopefully for a high pick in next year's draft. Bring in an asset while shedding salary. I doubt the Flyers just took the first offer that came along. It can be argued that JV was worth more, but that's a fan perspective. Just like most, myself included, thought ghost was worth more. Apparently, he wasn't. I don't think a contender made an offer and Fletcher turned it down just to annoy us
