  1. Ahh thanks for that context! That makes sense what you are saying and explains why as soon as I choose to begin my journey back they are struggling. In some ways missing the PO could be a blessing so we see what we could be but don’t get too comfortable that we are there and then also get a better draft pick along the way.
  2. Ok so what I am getting a few games in is they are who we thought they were talent wise, but attitude wise they have an edge and can win some scrappy games. Soooo we need more talent to win is basically the conclusion here and when they arrive we will have the scrappy attitude and swagger to back it up. These absolute drubbing games at home were just murder to your soul as a STH. You paid good money fought horrible traffic, found free parking (well I did anyway), walked far, bought overpriced food and drink, and then watched your team get destroyed and sullenly skulked back to your car, potentially fought more traffic on the way home and wondered why you didn’t just stay home with your family. Nahhh I don’t miss it but if they get better and Hilferty keeps reviving the team back to what they were intended as founded, I could see a game plan in my future. I have it with the Phillies and it has been AWESOME.
  3. Bump! Hmmmm some clairvoyance from trevluk?
  4. What I remember most besides him being old and slow was him taking out Mr. Ed Crosby’s teeth.
  5. What a pair they were! On the old Philly.com board we used to “affectionately” refer to them as “Hathje”
  6. Wow thanks for reminding me again of some of the MANY reasons I dropped my season tickets!
  7. Sorry guys it’s my fault…as soon as I come back they implode again. I’m the mush
  8. This was 1 of many steps that needed for me to consider coming back to the team. Now that we are a year in what grade would you and the message board give Danny B so far? I would give a rating if I had better knowledge as to his full body of work but honestly, I’ve been so unplugged from the team I am not qualified at the moment to give a proper evaluation.
  9. Hmmm looks like I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue. What a return for me to watching the team again .
  10. Thanks also for the kind words, it’s good to see that I’m not alone in my feelings about what happened with the team last decade or more. I was 9 when I started liking the Flyers and now, I’m a couple years away from 50. I guess you could say I grew up a bit too and lost some of my undying devotion for the team and focused on stuff that matters more.
  11. Thanks for the kind words it’s nice to be back and glad to hear I’m not the only one who became a bit jaded.
  12. I met him too at a “Meet the team” event and he was my favorite player at the time. While I wasn’t expecting him to become my best friend, he could have uttered at least a word or 2. I was trying to tell him how much we appreciated his hard work and was thanking him for signing my stuff and he didn’t say a thing and barely looked at me. It was a bit disappointing as most players I’ve met at least treated me like a fellow human being .
  13. Many thanks, it’s good to be back.
  14. Poulin20 back to hockeyforums.net, We Welcome You!
  15. “Comments I’ve made on hockeyforums.net since 2021” by Poulin20 Hi everyone, long time no see. Sorry it’s been a while. I honestly needed a break from the Flyers. The grind of going to almost every game with season tickets, the constant losing / mediocrity and the destruction of the team by Scott, Fletcher, and Camillo was too much to bear. COVID actually showed me how much life I was missing out on following this team and soon after we all came back from that and I was harassed by guards for my mask slipping a centimeter off my nose when I was cheering a goal helped drive me away. I haven’t had season tickets the past couple years and I really enjoyed the extra time with family and money. The Flyers have repeatedly tried to get me back. I told them I was so done as the losing and loss of traditions and the family feeling that used to be there did me in. I even tried to explain this at a meeting for disgruntled STH and I was soooo turned off by this loser Mike Shane (aka boy Blunder) who was a Camillo flunky from the Washington Nationals. He was so fake and disingenuous that I wanted to puke the champagne they were trying to ply us with all over him. Then something happened, Scott left, Camillo left (and Boy Blunder Shane with her), and Fletcher was canned. I didn’t know much about Hilferty and I didn’t think that Jones and Danny B would amount to much but I paid attention with 1/2 an ear. Then I slowly saw the traditions returning and the effort to restore Flyers family which was destroyed by Camillo and the Nationals group. I also saw the improved play and the shrewd moves by Danny B and my intrigue set in. Then I heard a recording of Hilferty at the STH town hall (that I used to document on here) and I realized the Flyers as they were founded are potentially coming back to life. I’m not saying I’m 100% back yet as a fan, but I’ve gone from totally disowning this team to being cautiously optimistic and if they continue to bring back traditions and Flyers family atmosphere and sprinkle in some winning hockey they may just win back my viewership and later some ticket money. I may not ever go back to full season tix but a game plan could be in my future if Hilferty and company continue to breathe life back into this team I once adored. Who knows maybe I will even tread the boards again at hockeyforums it’s been a while and I have missed you guys, believe it or not. I just really needed a clean break at the time. laters, Poulin20
  16. That's true but whenever the 7 minute penalty would be called the refereee would feel compelled to serve the penalty himself and thank Jon Sim for putting him in the box.
  17. Multiple times and then he bench pressed the 900lbs while serving the 5 minute major for it.
  18. Correct on all counts but you are missing one message board favorite: JonSimJonSimJonSimJonSim also don’t forget these other Treasures to wear 11, Daigle, Jody Hull, Jiri Latal, Steve Kaspar, Blair Betts, and that guy again named Pat Sharp also donned the 11. There was also a journeyman named Len Hachborn who wore it in 1984-1985 and played in the first Flyers Game I ever saw.
  19. The early 80s Flyers are my biggest gap in knowledge about the team as I have studied the cup teams history inside and out and I know every detail about the team like the back of my hand from November 1984 on.
  20. I was going to say underwhelming but that covers it adequately as well.
  21. 10 is Super Easy - Bill Clemment, Brad McCrimmon , John Leclair for the headliners Honorable mention to Brayden Schenn (Stanley Cup Champion ) Then from the "remember me?" Category: Dan Quinn, Kris Versteeg, and Mike Bullard.
  22. Flyers first playoff series win since 2012, WE WELCOME YOU!! To the Royal Montreal golf Club, Canadiens, WE WELCOME YOU!!
