It appears that the coaches' Lombardi-esque motivation techniques are lost on the current roster. Back to the drawing board for the fonz. I actually watched the first 2 periods of the game tonight, waiting for the curling to start. Yep, curling. Way more exciting than Flyer hockey. It was infuriatingly disgusting watching a once proud hockey team play with zero passion.

The dysfunction that is the Flyers has made them so completely irrelevant and insignificant I don't think the rest of the league even pays attention, except to call the chucktard when they have a broken down 30 year old they want to unload.

This whole Sanheim issue is the poster for the dysfunction that the Flyers are. Brain dead GM extends player 8 years, Napoleanic coach benches him. Small communication issue up and down the system. Benching #6 was a C U Next Tuesday move by the coach. The guy bought 16 tickets for his junior billets. He could have sat him the game prior or the next night. On a team going nowhere fast it was a dick move. This is why Torts and his dogs move every 3 years. The guy is a dick. Having said that, #6 needs to put on his big boy socks and play through all the periphery ********. He is being paid to be way better than he is playing right now. If he wants to be traded out of this hot mess he needs to show better.

There should be a lottery for who gets to tie the noose. That will put some excitement into the Philadelphia Irrelevants.

IMHO, I have no issue or fan attachment to anyone on this roster. Most of the young guys I pity them coming into the dysfunctional environment that the Flyers are. Sadly, the contract and cap hell that the current idiot of hockey ops has created takes away any and all anticipation about trade deadline day. And my final thought for now, trading players for future assets is even a fools errand right now with the way the Flyers seem to diminish young talent. It is really sad for me to see how irrelevant the Flyers are in hockeyville right now. I don't want this GM to even show up for work, let alone make any more hockey deals. If they are hiring a new GM between now and deadline day, the entire roster is up for grabs for the right return.

I'll tell you how much I miss #28 after the chucktard trades the pick from Florida for a 32 year old with a core injury, because anything can happen if you finish 12 points out of a playoff spot.

Couldn't agree with you more. What else would anyone be in this organization but mediocre down, except Fletcher, who couldn't be worse . If you play here and you see the pathetic lack of effort to improve the on ice product, regardless of salary and professionalism they are still human, and its hard to play above your weight when all around you are punching marshmallows. Its just being human.

Not sure how many times this has to be explained to you, but here goes. EVERY cup winner since the 2010 finals appearance by the Flyers had multiple top 5 draft picks at the top of their lineup. You cannot compete for a cup drafting 15th every year. You also can't win a cup if your nucleus is a bunch of 30 year olds with injury issues. The game is so fast now and the playoffs are such a grind, you need to be young, you need to be fast, and you need to be physical. You cannot achieve these benchmarks by pursuing mediocrity, which is what the current Flyer management is doing. So if they carry on like this, which it seems like you endorse, so be it, but in MHO, this is the recipe for ten years of no measurable success, which is actually at the 13 year mark. I do admire the wins they are gutting out this season, and Torts is a breath of fresh air, and some of the kids are contributing, but they are not making the playoffs, and they are not going to draft a stud at 11 or 12, which means more of the same to come.

What is nice about this? the coach of a professional sports team saying we're trying, but we suck right now, please keep spending your money so we can pay all the assinine contracts that our brain damaged GM has given out, and we will continue to flounder in mediocrity as far as the eye can see. The little turd reminds me of Frank Burns. A greedy little ferret faced dick who got power wedgied and stuffed in a gym locker daily. His accomplishment in hockey is that he has made a small handful of already wealthy old fat white guys wealthier. Thats it. He has deprived fans over and over the chance to see best on best tournaments. He has deprived elite players the opportunity to earn what their true value is, and he has deprived traditional hockey markets franchise opportunities in order for his rich old fat white guy governors to receive expansion fees. So if the measuring stick is making a small group of rich guys richer, hurray for betturd. Otherwise, he hasn't done a damn thing to improve the game and its fanbase.

Hockey lost another giant today. The great Bobby Hull has gone to hockey heaven. I can't explain it if you didn't see Bobby live in the Hawk uniform, he played with a passion and joy few have ever matched. He pissed off every zamboni driver in every rink he played in. He would stay on the ice after warm ups and sign every autograph that was asked for. Gone but never forgotten, and irreplaceable.

Trading Provorov for the right package back, including Jesse P doesn't concern me, nor does the 6 year extension with a NMC that the chucktard is sure to give him the week after he arrives. What does concern me is the announcement the following week that Jesse has a career ending core injury that he has been playing through for 3 years. The chucktard loves those guys!

I don't have to justify my total and utter disdain and amazement at how bad the chucktard is at his current job, we have all seen the results. Having said that, I think it's safe to say that every GM has passed on an 18 year old prospect who developed better than the choice they made. My disbelief with the dysfunction that is the Flyers is how they seem to fail repeatedly at developing young players. It becomes even more amazing to me at this failure when you think how they relate to and nurture each other after retiring, and how they appear to not put any such man love and nurturing into their young prospects. It appears to me they draft these kids and then virtually leave them to be, as we saw with Richards and Carter and Lupul, through to the handling of Patrick and the obviously misguided training and medical staff, all the while having the lovefest in the executive suite. I'm sure there's a netflix or HBO miniseries to be had here, in the dark comedy genre.

Sadly, this board and its eclectic group of contributors is far more entertaining than the dysfunction that is the Flyers. Arrogant, ignorant, irrelevant. Team Chucktard.

OR flip it around another way. Who in the salary cap bett turd era has won a cup without multiple top 5 picks? It isn't just getting the first pick in a BITFU. it usually includes getting rid of multiple albatross contracts and getting free from aging once great players who were signed to much earned contracts, or in the Flyers case, giving away contracts to broken bodies and just REALLY BAD asset management. Boston this season may prove us wrong, but it is really hard to build a cup winner having not bottomed out.
