jammer2
The Spitfires today admitted their guilt in recruiting vilolations and in the process promised not to appeal the decison. In return for this, the fine was reduced from 400,000 to 250,000 and the Spits were given their 2014 first round pick back....so the only first rounder now gone are 2013 and 2016. Also, no mention of taking back the 2 back to back OHL and Memorial Cup Championships in 09 and 10.....so a collective WHEW was heard throughout Windsor today, I'm pleased with the decison, although I could care less about the fine. http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/09/21/ohl-reduces-spitfires-punishment-after-team-admits-guilt-in-recruiting-violations/
sarsippius
" Both the OHL and the Spitfires continue to decline to discuss the details of the violations that led to the penalties against the team."Interesting, usually an admission of guilt means a full confession. I'll bet the other league GMs want the details
jammer2
@sarsippius I betcha the other GM's have full knowledge of what infractions transpired....just a hunch. Another blog by Spits writer Bob Duff titled "Spits drop the innocent act"....ha ha.. http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/09/21/duff-column-on-spitfires-fines/

" Thanks rad, it's a very popular name and logo, this site has it ranked 4th in the CHL http://www.thehockeyfanatic.com/hockey-lists/top-canadian-hockey-league-chl-logos/ The Spitfire was produced in Britian, and sold to Canada in mass quanity for World War 2. From what I hear, it was a magnificant plane that handled like a dream and was very useful during the big war. Lot's of local Windsorites flew the Spitfire, thus the team name. It was teamed with it's sister plane, the Lancaster which was also flown by many Windsorites. We have a Lancaster and Spitfire on display in a Windsor park, it's a really nice display. http://www.google.ca/imgres?start=126&um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1257&bih=755&tbm=isch&tbnid=B2hRtwZ6Lm9_yM:&imgrefurl=http://www.ronerwin.com/web/largeN/no/080809C4606.html&docid=M7QtxhhALu0p3M&imgurl=http://www.ronerwin.com/images/080809C4606.jpg&w=450&h=300&ei=CyFdUPWKHIbBygGUk4C4Cw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=474&sig=116803749423011489250&page=6&tbnh=137&tbnw=180&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:21,s:126,i:169&tx=103&ty=41 It's a big improvement on the logo we used before moving to the new arena in 09, a very boring generic type of logo... http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/3/381/full/1653.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?id%3D1653&h=545&w=480&sz=12&tbnid=A2cKzRnahUuUOM:&tbnh=85&tbnw=75&zoom=1&usg=__V3ty2pMbYdcvNqtrXu-xiZNM0_o=&docid=jSreGDAyrCbOJM&sa=X&ei=YCFdUP64EcTryAHv1IH4Cw&ved=0CCwQ9QEwAw&dur=
radoran
The Spitfire is a legend among aircraft. The so few that defended so many against such odds.As for the rankings, I like the Phoenix, but wouldn't put 2 or 3 above Windsor.Quite like Gatineau, too. jammer2
@Podein25 I LOVE the Bombers logo, one of my favourites EVER. Colour scheme looks a bit to much like the Pete's, but other than that....very, very, cool. Ahhhh, just looked it up, like I thought, the Pete's look a bit like the Bombers...1927 start for Flin Flon and a 1956 entry into the OHL (League's oldest current team...wow, did not know that) for the Petes.
